Why can't I enter combat?

I've been havin an issue since I started my 3rd playthrough. Anytime i try to enter combat, instead, the enemy icon turns blue and my parties health drops, but nothing else. I can't find the cause of it either. Anyone else have this? Google yielded nothing.

Check what titles you have equipped - Tear's "Monster Collector" causes you to not enter any battles as long as it's worn. Likewise, her "Singer of the Verse" title causes you to not enter battles when you are standing still. I believe that health dropping a bit is part of the mechanism of those titles as well...
