About The Game

"Think Super Mario Bros meets Super Mario Galaxy."

Super Mario 3D Land is the newest Super Mario game to hit the shelves. Combining the linear style of the orginial Bros games with the 3D freedom of Galaxy and Galaxy 2, 3D Land pushes the boundaries of the 3DS's capabilities with its incredible gameplay and graphics. They've spent less effort on creating the storyline, starting the game with a simple "Oh no! Peach has been kidnapped again!" and then you're straight into it. Personally, I think this was a good move because it let them focus more on the level design, which really is the best of any Mario game thus far. More contraptions, enemies and items that have never been seen before debut in this game and trust me, you're gonna spend a long time enjoying everything this game has to offer.

About The Guide

Well, this guide is here to take you through each individual level so you can 100% the game. Every Star Coin and nearly every Secret Exit have been found and are in the walkthrough below. I've only written a couple of guides before this one so it may not be up to the quality of other guides, but all the info you need is there.

Walkthrough Introduction

So here I'll explain how I've set out the walkthrough.

At the start of each world I've got a pretty cruddy map with the layout of the world, then each of the levels follow. For Mushroom Houses and stuff, hit up Other Levels.

Because of the 3D nature of the levels, I will use north and south as directions for moving away from the screen and towards the screen respectively. I've also split the levels into parts using the Checkpoint Flags and indicated which Star Coins are found in each Part to make it easier to find them.

Now, without any further ado...

Part One

Star Coins: 1

Start by running to the right and jumping up to the higher ground. Head north to the ? Block before the bridge and hit it for a Coin. Cross the bridge or jump the river and take out the Goomba, then step on to the bridge. When Coins appear at the head of the river and leap into the air, jump to collect them all. On the other side of the river where the Goomba was are two Brick Blocks and a ? Block. In the ? Block is a Tanooki Leaf. Grab it and then head south. You will come across a red and a yellow block with a rope tied above them. Jump on to the rope and walk across it to collect two Coins and Star Coin #1. If you jump where the Star Coin is, you can collect Coins that flow down the river.

Past the second river and to the south is a fence, encouraging you to move back to the higher ground. Instead, jump the fence and continue to the right. Smash the block at the end by swinging your Tanooki Tail to reveal a cave. Head north through it to get an extra life. At the end, jump and move left to exit the cave. Hit the jumbo ? Block for three coins and then climb the tree next to you. Jump from the top on to the yellow block and run south. A bird will be sitting further down and will fly away when you get close, leaving behind a 1-Up Mushroom. Run back north and jump from here to the higher ground. Run through the lone bush here for a Mushroom, then run left and activate the Checkpoint Flag.

Part Two

Star Coins: 2 + 3

Head left from the Flag and take out the Goomba before climbing the tree. From this tree, you can get to a set of Note Blocks in the sky. Bounce from these up to a pipe. Enter it with the L Button. Inside is a room with a different perspective. You have to navigate your way up to the yellow mat to change the camera angle. Turns out the Star Coin block is higher up than it looked. Jump to Star Coin #2 and exit back through the pipe.

Drop back down to the Checkpoint Flag and continue right to the fence and jump it, but stay close to the ledge. On a lower platform is an extra life. Collect it and then jump back up. Take out the remaining Goomba and head to the trees to the north. Climb the right-hand one to the top to release a Tanooki Tail. Grab it and then head into the building. Inside is a Goomba with a Tail. Defeat it while watching for its spin attack. After, spin your own tail to destroy the Brick Blocks and to get all the Coins from the Coin Block. Jump to the next ledge and smash the Brick Block here to reveal a Turnstile. Continuously whack it with your tail to make the platform ascend to the roof. Break the Crates here for some coins, then grab the Stopwatch to add extra time to the game clock. Once you've finished up here, glide off to the right to pick up some more Coins.

Down on the ground is a set of Binoculars. Step on the pressure pad to use them. Off in the distance is a Toad, annoyingly yelling at you. Zoom in on him and watch him climb the stairs and jump to the Finish Flag. He's pretty much demonstrating what to do when you get there. Use the Binoculars as long as you want; the clock stops while you use them. Anyway, head to the left and climb the ramp. Follow the path to the Note Block (take out the Goombas on the way if you want) and then bounce off it to the blue platform. Climb these platforms and walk across the next tightrope. Halfway across, jump up to Star Coin #3 before moving off to the right-hand side. The ? Block here has a Tanooki Tail if you want it. To the north is some red grating. Run across it and jump off at the end to land on the Mega Goomba and squish it. Defeat the other Goombas here, too. Head north over the bridge and jump here for more Coins that fly overhead. Climb the blocks to the right, just like you saw Toad do. At the top, launch yourself on to the Finish Flag. The higher up you land, the more Coins you get. Land on the top for an extra life.

Tip: Any time you need some extra lives or some items, replay this level.

Part One

Star Coins: 1

Run to the right and past the SWINGING SPIKE BALL OF DOOM, then jump up the step. Grab the Coins and take out the Goombas. Hit the ? Blocks to get some Coins and a Fire Flower. Use your new firepower to break the Crates for more Coins and defeat the Inky Piranha plant before it spits out ink. If it does, it covers the screen and you'll have to wait for it to fade away before you can see again. Smash the Brick Blocks ahead and take a look to the right. In the middle of a revolving platform is another Inky Piranha. Shoot a fireball across at it when the platform reaches your ledge and then stand where the Coin is and collect the others as it rotates. You'll pick up Star Coin #1 on your way around. Once you've got it, jump off and take out the Goomba down below, then enter the pipe to the right.

Grab the Stopwatch to add some time to the clock, then collect the Coins and smash the Brick Blocks in this nostalgic room. Exit through the pipe and you'll end up back before the spinning platform. Run all the way across this time. Hit the two elongated ? Blocks for some Coins and take out the Goomba. Next to the Goomba is a tower of Goombas. Burn them or bounce on them and ground pound the Brick Blocks to break them. On the first step to the right, hold the L Button to crouch and then waddle underneath the other Blocks. Jump to break the first and get Coins from the rest. There will be a higher stack of Goombas after this; either defeat them or waddle past behind them. Here you will find the Checkpoint Flag.

Part Two

Star Coins: 2 + 3

Keep running right to the lone Coin. Grab it to make a trail of other Coins appear. Collect them all as they pop up to get a round of applause. Yep, clapping. Anyway, run right and jump to grab the Coins just south of you to reveal some hidden ? Blocks. There are two directly above the Coins and one more just south. The last one contains a Star. Grab it and run down the Koopas as well as the Goombas, the giant spike ball and the Inky Piranha. Work your way back left and hit/ground pound the ? Blocks for Coins and a Fire Flower. The right-hand ? Block is a Coin Block that gives triple so hit it fast. Continue right and jump on to the moving platforms, then up to Star Coin #2. Move north on to the higher floor with the Stopwatch and long jump to the right to the back ledge. Fireball the Inky Piranhas here and grab Star Coin #3 while you're here. You can go back across the bridge to grab a couple of Coins if you want. Once you're at the end, use a fireball to light the torch in the corner to make a bunch of Coins appear. Grab them all and then head on through the pipe.

Secret Exit!

BEFORE entering the pipe, go back to where the north ledge with the third Star Coin merges with the lower ground. Look at the roof. You should be able to see a gap. To get through, wall jump off the back wall to the left side. Run all the way back left if you want an extra life, then run to the right to find a secret orange pipe. Jump in to get straight to World 2.

Jump on to the moving platform and grab the Coins at its peak, then jump on to the Finish Flag.

Part One

Star Coins: 1

Start by using the Binoculars. Look up and to your right to see a Toad high up on the cliffs. Zoom right in and he'll throw a Star Coin down into the level. Leave the Binoculars and head north. Drop down the steps and take out the two Piranha Plants here. Hit the Item Block and try and snag yourself a Fire Flower or Tanooki Tail. Keep moving north and defeat the Koopa; kick its shell at the enemies ahead if you want. Bounce on the Note Block a little further down to reach Star Coin #1. Jump on the Biddybuds here to defeat them and continue north. There are more further down, next to two Coins and a Mini Mystery Box. Take out the Biddybuds and jump into the Mystery Box.

Inside are three ? Blocks. The left contains one Coin and so does the middle one. The right, however, is a Coin Block, but it has limitless Coins. Stand under it and rapid fire on the Jump Button until time runs out. When the ten seconds are up, you'll automatically return to the level.

Drop down to the stone platforms and the Flying Biddybuds. There is a tower of five of them, but because they're flying, hitting the bottom ones won't make the others fall. You need to jump from the stone ledges to get the highest ones. Keep heading north to a green arrow platform. Obviously, stepping on one of the arrows will move the platform in that direction. Take it north, collecting Coins on the way. You'll find Checkpoint Flag on the other side.

Part Two

Star Coins: 2 + 3

Ahead are Venus Fire Traps. As you can probably guess, they spit fire. Dodge their fireballs and take them out with your own, or with a spin of your Tail if you have one. Ground pound the logs beside them for a Tanooki Leaf and some Coins. To the south of the lone log is a lower platform with a tiny cave on the left side. Crouch walk into it and at the end is an extra life. Waddle back out and jump up to the Coins on the right. Keep moving right to a Piranha Plant and a Rainbow Note Block. This special Block shoots you high into the clouds to a bonus section.

The ? Block at the start has a Star, so grab it and tear through the cloud path, collecting Coins and running down enemies. Jump to grab a Stopwatch on the way through and right near the end is Star Coin #2. Get it and then fall back down to the level.

Kick the rock to get a Coin from it, then jump across the clouds to the left to a Red Ring. Touch it to activate the Red Coins. Collecting all the Red Coins earns you a bonus item, so grab them all quickly. Get them all and then jump back up to the left to where the Venus Fire Traps were. The second Plant (that dropped a Fire Flower) blocked the next path you need to take. North of this point is blue grating. By stepping on it, the camera will shift above you so you can see your way down further. Drop down to the lower clouds (float if you have a Tail) and collect Coins as you go. On the way down is Star Coin #3, so don't miss it. At the bottom is a Red Biddybuds, so stomp it before continuing north across the chasm. Ride the Green Arrow Platform to its farthest point and hit the ? Blocks as you go. Drop to the wooden platform below, then to the next one, then finally on to the top of the Finish Flag. You get bonus Coins for the Biddybuds walking around at the bottom.

3 Star Coins are needed to open the level.

Part One

Star Coins: 1

Oh the nostalgia! That music... But anyway, start by jumping on to the Green Arrow Platform. Move forward and collect a few Coins along the first stretch. You'll need to attack/bypass a Paragoomba to get to the first ? Block of the level. Inside it is a Tanooki Leaf which will come in handy in case you need to do some precarious jumping to stay on board. Round the first corner to find more Coins and three Paragoombas. Swing your Tail to take out the Paragoombas without stopping. Around the next corner is a fountain that will launch the platform to a higher set of rails. Make sure you hit it while moving forward to get up to Star Coin #1. The fountain changes height periodically so don't miss it.

Once the platform drops down, you'll get to a downhill slope. The platform speeds up as you make your way down so don't accidentally run into the Paragoomba at the bottom. Once there, you'll come across towers of Coins and Brick Blocks. Break the blocks, collect the Coins and reach the end of the first track to find the Checkpoint Flag on solid ground.

Part Two

Star Coins: 2 + 3

Jump on to the second Green Arrow Platform and proceed forward. You'll notice a Star Coin below, next to a Paragoomba. Keep moving right and grab the Coins, then move back left once you drop down. Tail swipe the Paragoomba, pick up Star Coin #2 and then swing back right so you don't fall off the edge. Avoid the Venus Fire Trap at the end and jump to the next Arrow Platform. After continuing right you'll reach a plateau with two ? Blocks, each containing a single Coin, and a Mini Mystery Box. Jump in.

Inside are three long ? Blocks. The left has a Tanooki Leaf, the middle a single Coin and the right is a Coin Block, but not endless this time. Collect all the Coins and then pick up the Leaf before time runs out.

Get back on the platform and move further right. Defeat the Paragoomba and wait above the first fountain so it shoots you up to the higher rails. Ride the rails left to Star Coin #3 and then glide back right. Don't hit the second fountain just yet; on the other side is a Stopwatch. Get it before moving on up. Grab the Coins that hover above the higher rails and then prepare yourself. There's a big jump ahead and the 3D somehow makes it more exciting. Stand in the middle to reel in the Coins on the way down and watch the fountains throw the platform to the final plateau. When you hit the bottom, enter the pipe you find here. On the other side, climb the stairs and use the Arrow Platform here to get as much air as you can to land on the Finish Flag.

Part One

Star Coins: 1

Begin the first castle by dropping through the stream of Coins while avoiding fireballs spat out by the Draglet below. Tail whip it or jump on it to take it out. Drop down again and defeat the next one as well. Continue north to the first rotating fire bars and follow one around to get to three Coins, then jump your way to the rotating cogs. Work your way around on top of it to pick up a few Coins, then jump over the gap in the middle to Star Coin #1. Make sure you dodge the Podoboo when it leaps into the air though. Hop over to the next cog and run around it while avoiding the fire bars. Jump to the purple carpet on the other side.

Here you will find a Dry Bones. These guys don't die. Jumping on them or tail slapping them breaks them to pieces, but they eventually pull themselves together. Literally. Bounce off it and hit the ? Block for a Tanooki Leaf. From here, jump to the wooden platform as the lava pushes it up to the grating above. Stand on the edge and wait for a fountain of lava to shoot up in front of you. Once it drops, run forward and jump to the stairs when the Podoboos aren't in your way.

Climb the stairs and at the top is a Hammer Bro. The easiest way to take out this guy is to run at him, swerve when he's about to throw a hammer and then wallop him with your Tail, or jump on him if you don't have one. Once he's gone, long jump across the gap to the right of the green grating to bypass the lava geyser. It's here you'll find the Checkpoint Flag.

Part Two

Star Coins: 2 + 3

Move right and grab the Coins before dropping down to the fire bars here. Jump over the middle and just to the north in the air is Star Coin #2. Pick it up and find your way over to the right-hand side. Jump up to the higher ledge to two Brick Blocks. The right one is a Coin Block, so rapidly jump under it for a bunch of Coins. Next to your position is a Thwomp, which will crush you. Kablamo, you're gone. So instead of running under it, wait for it to drop and then wall jump on top of the Brick Blocks. Jump from here on top of the Thwomp and ride it up. At the top, hop off and grab the three... I mean, one extra life. Damn cardboard. Run right and use the Binoculars. Off in the distance is the castle. You can see the goal at the top and Toad is behind bars at the bottom. That's where you're headed.

Finish up with the Binoculars and then drop down to Star Coin #3 to end up behind the second Thwomp. After it drops and moves back up, run underneath and climb the steps. Run along the path and bounce off the Dry Bones. At the end... bum bum BAHHHH!!!

BOSS

TANOOKI BOWSER

Here he is and he's fired up. Start running and jumping along the purple carpet while dodging the fireballs all the way to the end, then hook left. Keep up the acrobatics as your work your way across the next path, grabbing some Coins and bonking the Dry Bones on the way. Get up to the wooden bridge and Bowser will come crashing down next to you. Dodge his fire and sprint under him when he jumps. Get around him and - the nostalgia continues - on the other side of the bridge is a switch, so stomp it. The bridge will break under him, dropping him into the lava.

The door to your right will open, giving you access to Toad, who seems pretty happy now. Inside with him is a ! Block. What does it do? Jump in and find out. Afterward, grab the Stopwatch and climb the giant wooden crates before jumping on to the Finish Flag.

World 2-1

No Checkpoint Flag for this level...

Run up the first hill and get on the Binoculars. High up on the castle roof is the goal; you'll notice Toad nearby. Zoom in on him and he'll toss out a Star Coin up ahead. Now that that's out of the way, leave the 'Noculars and bounce off the Goombas to the north. Past the Goombas is a Piranha Plant; whomp it with your Tail or take it out another way, it's up to you. Bop the ? Blocks to the left for a couple of Coins and a Tanooki Leaf. Use the Leaf to help you beat up the Goombas and the Venus Fire Trap to the right, and crouch walk under the wooden arch to pick up the Coins underneath.

Once you pass them you'll come across an Item Block. Grab yourself whatever you can get and tear up the cardboard cutouts of Goombas to the left, just be careful of the real one at the end. Take out the Piranha Plant and then bounce off the orange blocks to the left to reach Star Coin #1. Jump off the right side and kill the Piranha Plant in the pipe so you can enter it.

Inside is another of those "weird perspective" rooms. Looks like the Star Coin is sitting comfortably on the second step. Walk on to the yellow mat to see otherwise. Now that you really know where it is, climb the blocks and jump over to Star Coin #2 before exiting back through the pipe. Bak outside, pummel the tower of Goombas to the right and then grab the extra lives to the north. Ha, just kidding. Smash the cardboard for a Coin, then take out the Goomba on the first step to the left. You'll notice on the ground to the left further is a P Switch. Jump on the switch and follow the musical notes that appear to create a tune. Get them all in time to get a bonus item. On the step you finish on is a tiny tunnel underneath the next step. You can waddle through it for an extra life. Jump up to the highest step and take out the Tanooki Goomba, then continue right and defeat the next one. You should see the last Star Coin in the background. Run down the left side of the steps here and then behind them to get to Star Coin #3.

Walk back around and climb the stairs to the moving platforms. Jump on a platform as it rises up and ride it to its peak, then hop to one as it moves out of the wall and down. From here, step off to the other side. Defeat the Tanooki Goomba and then bounce your way up on the orange blocks to a ! Block. Jump in!

You'll end up next to a green ! Switch. Step on it to make a path appear one tile at a time, but hurry across because it folds back up soon after. Collect all the Coins and bop the Goombas on the other side before you hit the green ! Switch to the left. Climb the stairs it creates and jump from them to a bouncy orange block and then to the Finish Flag.

Part One

Star Coins: 1

Leap up to the Coins above you and then hit the ! Switch. Follow the tiles across and rapidly hit the Coin Block halfway across. Once you've emptied it, just chill out for a moment so the path falls from under you. Drop down and enter the pipe to the right after taking out the Tanooki Goombas. Inside is a constellation of Coins that spell out "3D", which is ironic because they're all in a line. Jump around and collect them all, then head out through the other pipe. Run north and hit the second ! Switch for another path to appear; this one will take you straight past Star Coin #1 so pick it up as you follow the tiles.

Drop down the stone steps and hit the next ! Switch. Follow the path, but be careful when the tiles flip sideways. Once you reach the top, you can jump to the right to get a Fire Flower from a ? Block. Get it if you want; you need a Tanooki Leaf towards the end so have one as your backup. You'll need to long jump to get back to the right. Here are two ! Switches. See if you can hit them at the same time. They both create a staircase down to the right and having both there makes things safer. There's a lone Coin at the bottom which creates more when you get it. Pick them all up and then smack that Checkpoint Flag.

Part Two

Star Coins: 2 + 3

Jump up and stay north. Use a fireball to light the torch here if you have fire, then jump up to the left to a secret ledge (you don't need fire to get to the ledge). Up here is Star Coin #2 and a Stopwatch. Grab them both and then hop back down. Hit the ! Switch to start up yet another path. Follow it out of the level and back in again, then jump the gaps it creates above the purple sludge. There's a flying Coin Block on the way; don't waste too much time getting Coins from it. Keep working your way across past the Paragoombas to the final platform. Wipe out the Goomba and get in the pipe.

Out at the top, you'll notice some Brick Blocks to your left. Smash them using your Tanooki Tail and crouch walk under the wall to Star Coin #3 and a few normal Coins. Waddle back past the wall to a ! Switch. Climb the stairs quickly; they disappear fast. Jump from the tiles to the Finish Flag to end this level.

World 2-3

No Checkpoint Flag here...

Start by hitting the two P Switches located closest to you in this first area. Each makes an "M" made from Coins appear, so collect all you can. Next, hit the ? Block to get a Propeller Box. This Block sits on your head and allows you to, essentially, do a mid-air jump. Holding the Jump Button will propel you at the peak of your leap. Hit the third P Switch when you're ready and propel into the air to collect all the Coins from this one. After you're done with the three switches, make your way to Mario's right foot (south and to the right). Break the Brick Block to reveal a turnstile. Spin it with your Tail to raise Mario's feet into the sky. Eventually, you'll end up on a Luigi platform. Grab Star Coin #1 above the P Switch and then hit the switch. Get all the Coins that appear and then move north to find a Stopwatch. After getting it, jump off the north side.

Aim for the block with the P Switch, but don't land on the actual switch unless you're ready to get moving quickly. Activate the switch when you're ready and jump to the right. Falling through the Yellow Rings earns you five coins. Collect the musical notes that appear while you fall to get a bonus item at the bottom. Launch yourself towards the Yellow Ring, past the Paragoombas. Fall through the Ring and bounce off the Paragoomba below it so you can make it to the Mushroom platform.

There is another Propeller Box down here (disguised as a ? Block), so grab it if you need to. Jump up the blocks and bounce off the Paragoomba before stepping on the P Switch. Follow the trail of Coins up and back until you've collected them all, then smash the Brick Block for another turnstile. Spin until you reach the Paragoomba and the Red Ring. Take out the Paragoomba and then propel yourself through the Red Ring to grab all the Red Coins that appear above it. Drop back down and run over to the ? Blocks sticking off the side. Ground pound them to get some Coins, then shoot yourself over to the yellow and blue blocks in the distance. There's a Propeller Box there, too.

From here, launch to the next blue block. Land there and get ready for a tricky part. Jump to the Paragoomba and bounce off it, then drop through the Yellow Ring, grab Star Coin #2 and propel yourself back up to safety. Work your way over to the stack of Goombas and take them out. Grab the Stopwatch here and jump to the Peach platform. Follow the red stripe to a Brick Block and break it. Use this turnstile to raise the stripe, then quickly step left and propel into the air to get Star Coin #3. Land and head north. Defeat the Goomba and then collect the Coins in the shape of a heart surrounding a Star. Then, grab the Star. Run north and bop the green ball frog things to release a heap of Coins from each. Then jump into the ! Block.

In this final area, run over to the ? Block and hit it. And hit the other one as well. Run past the blocks and the Flag and enter the Castle through the door. Grab the extra life inside, then go back and climb the stairs so you can jump to the top of the Finish Flag. Or just propel to the top, either way.

World 2-4

Again, no Checkpoint Flag, which sucks on this level...

You'll notice a red and blue flipping platform ahead. These platforms flip whenever you jump, so be careful. Get on top of the Brick Block and jump to get an extra life. Pick it up and then stand under the red-blue platform. Jump and it'll scoop you up as it swaps. Climb the next stairs until you reach the next red-blue platforms. Get across here and you'll come across some Stingbies. Spin them with your Tail to defeat them. Run and jump across the next red-blue platforms and hit the Birck Blocks here to get a Tanooki Leaf. Keep climbing to find a Bowser Box. It continuously spits out Goombas but you only get a Coin for the first one, so don't spam it.

Move north from here to reach more red-blue platforms. Jump around the spike barrier to get to Star Coin #1, just watch for incoming Goombas. Leap and bound to the other side and get to the ledge with the rotating spike arm. Get a Coin out of the first Brick Block, then rapid fire under the second one to release a heap of Coins. Collect the Coins and then flip the platforms to the blue side. Step on to the platform on the right and jump on to the Rainbow Note Block to shoot into the clouds.

Up here are Coins set out to spell "3D", so grab them all. Climb the clouds to find more higher up, as well as a Stopwatch on a back ledge and Star Coin #2 on the highest cloud. Grab it and then fall back down. The Brick Block to just south of where you land is a Coin Block, so slap it silly with your Tail. Break the Block in the middle for a turnstile, then use it to raise the central block. Hit the ? Block for an extra life. Jump up to the right and defeat the Stingby before jumping down to the red-blue platforms to the north. Jump the spike arms and cautiously make your way to the flying ? Block. Be really careful and get on top of it, then leap from there to get to Star Coin #3. You can make it from the ? Block to the safe platforms to the north. Bust some Goomba and climb the steps. Smack the Stingby here and then jump to the highest block. Float over to the red-blue platform and get on the red side, then launch on to the Finish Flag.

World 2-Airship

No Checkpoint Flag to save you this time...

Run to the right and jump the flame jets. The screen scrolls by itself so keep up. Past the jets is a tightrope which you need to walk across while avoiding Bullet Bills firing from the background. You can spin them by knocking them with your Tail and they'll shoot off in a different direction. Jump off the rope at the other side and leap into the ! Block at the back. You'll end up on a ship in the background with a stack of Coins, two Stopwatches, an Item Block and Star Coin #1. Hit the ! Block here to teleport back. Jump over the Bullet Bill pit and up on to the red roofing. Leap to the next ship and hit the long ? Block, then get on top of it and jump to Star Coin #2 when it's in sight. Dodge/kill the Monty Mole and then get past the next set of Bullet Bills. Be careful; these ones have Tanooki Tails. Cross over to the pipe and keep going past it. Drop down to the bottom ledge on the right to find it's part of a seperate ship. Collect the Coins down here and pick up Star Coin #3 before jumping back up. On the second highest ledge on the right-hand side there are two hidden ? Blocks, one of which has an extra life. Jump right up next to the pipe platform to find them, then enter the pipe.

BOSS

BOOM BOOM

Boom Boom drops from the roof and starts his attack straight away. He stretches his arms out and starts spinning towards you. You can either avoid him and wait for him to get dizzy before jumping on his head, or jump on him while he's spinning. After bouncing off him, he'll be stunned for a moment and then go into his shell. He'll ricochet around the room before popping back out. When he does this, bop him on the head again before he starts spinning to save time. Hit him three times and he'll be finished. Enter the pipe once you've collected the Coins he drops.

You'll pop out and pick up a Stopwatch. Make your way up the stairs and up to the blue ledge. Walk out carefully to the left to get an extra life, then run and jump back to the right and throw yourself on to the Finish Flag.

Part One

Star Coins: 1 + 2

Start by running to your right. A shadow appears on the sand and will chase you. Don't let it get under you because after a few seconds of chasing a Sandmaargh pops up where the shadow was. Flick it with your Tail or fireball it to defeat it. Keep on in that direction to find a pool of water while Coins moving above it. Run through and grab the Coins as you go. On the other side is a P Switch. Activate it to start up a string of musical notes. The notes will lead you past Pokeys and more Sandmaarghss. Tail whip them as you follow the trail and collect the notes. At the end you'll get a bonus item and hopefully you'll see the Brick Block in the background. Run over and smash it with a good slap of the Tail, then crouch walk inside to find Star Coin #2 (yeah, number two is first). Walk back out and head to the right to pick up a Stopwatch. There is a tiny path leading around the structure to the right again. Carefully walk along the path and some Coins will pop up, so grab them and then head back to where you came from. Follow the edge to a ? Block, which turns out to be a Propeller Box. Use it to collect the Coins floating above you. Further along the edge are more Coins and ? Blocks. The ? Block near three cactuses empties out a bunch of Coins, so make sure you get as many as you can. You can smash the cactuses to get Coins as well.

After cleaning up this area, head back to your starting point and search out the other side of the cannon platform. There is a Sandmaargh and three ? Blocks, the furthest of which is a Coin Block. Rack up all the Coins and then use the Note Blocks at the starting point to reach the cannon and enter it.

Aim for just above the 1-Up Mushroom you first see. It's fake, but the tunnel behind it leads to three ? Blocks with Coins, and a hidden ? Block in the gap with a real 1-Up. After collecting it, get back to the cannon. This time, aim a little higher and shoot yourself through the Yellow Ring. You'll land next to a Thwomp, but on the other side of the wall is a Star Coin. Jump around to your right when the platform comes down to get Star Coin #1, then jump back. Down below the next ledge are three Birck Blocks, but be careful of the middle one. It's a Brick Block with a Tanooki Tail. No, really. Smash them all if you want, then propel yourself to the next ledge above (or run under the Thwomp if you can't propel). Up here is a Wallop. These guys copy your movement, but when you jump, they have to pound the ground, which stuns them momentarily. Jump and then run around it to get to a Blokkablok. Breaking all the Blocks defeats it, just be wary of the spikes. Once defeated, enter the door.

Down on the sand are three Pokeys which you can beat for Coins. In the top left corner of the pit is a Note Block so you can bounce back up. Before the Thwomps you can propel up to a ledge with a door on the left. Outside is a cardboard Goomba and a few Blocks. Get a Tanooki Tail out here if you need one, then head back inside. You can propel from here to the next ledge above with the Checkpoint Flag. If you can't propel, run under the Thwomps and break the Blokkablok before jumping into a ! Block that warps you up to the Flag.

Part Two

Star Coins: 3

Exit through the door. Outside, follow the ledge to the end to find a Red Ring. Wait for the first platform to start moving out from the wall and grab the Ring. Jump up the platforms as they pop out and collect all the Red Coins for a bonus item. At the end of the platforms is a door. It's easier to reach if you propel for the last Red Coin. When there, go inside.

This hallway has two groups of Mini-Thwomps and spikes down the side. Jump to stun the MTs and run past them before they start moving again beacuse they'll push you off into the spikes. Make it past the second group and climb the steps. Wall jump between the wall and the Thwomp to get up to the Stopwatch, but keep jumping until you get on top of the Thwomp. At its peak, jump and/or propel to the right to get Star Coin #3. Drop down and enter the door here.

Walk left and drop into the water for a couple of Coins, then jump back out and climb the pole. Leap off to the higher ground and then climb the next pole to get to the final ledge. Get the Wallop out of the way, jump and then sprint and launch yourself on to the Finish Flag.

Part One

Star Coins: 1

Run forward and jump into the water. Sink lower into the lake and swim forward. Defeat the Cheep Cheeps and collect all the Coins here, then enter the pipe. Drop down to the sand and hit the P Switch to start a Coin trail. Follow the Coins through the water to two Brick Blocks, one of which has a Fire Flower. Take it and bust up the Cheep Cheep. Swim to the surface here to get a Stopwatch. Back down in the water are three crates, which you can break to reveal a Mushroom behind them. It's worth ten Coins so it's worth getting.

Swim right and through the Yellow Ring. Get the Coins here and the other Ring as well. Take out the Blooper with a fireball and hit the ? Block and Brick Blocks above, then sink to the Red Ring. Gather all the Red Coins that appear for a bonus item and fry some fish to the right. You can bonk the Cheeps from above but it doesn't kill them. Enter the cave at the end of the pool and sink down, then swim left to get Star Coin #1. Exit the cave and swim to the surface. Hit the ? Block and kick the Checkpoint Flag.

Part Two

Star Coins: 2 + 3

Drop down and move right. Sink down into the water and collect the Coins and the Yellow Ring. There are Bubbas ahead. They eat you for an instant death, but can be wiped out with a single fireball. Hit the P Switch and swim through the Rings that appear. Take out the Bubba and continue further down to another one, so defeat it, too. The four Brick Blocks in a square have a couple of Coins between them. The next set are empty, but the bottom two are Coin Blocks. Watch for the Spike Eel in his little cave because he stretches out a long way. Hitting him with fireballs makes him retreat into his cave. Hit him with fifteen fireballs to defeat him. After he's out of the way, drop into the small crevasse to find a pipe.

Once through the pipe you'll come across a bunch of Coins, empty Brick Blocks and Star Coin #2. Collect all the Coins and then head back through the pipe. Swim back up and then right. Move through the Rings and then past the pipe. Fire up the Spike Eel here so he gets out of the way and swim up to the surface. Jump up to Star Coin #3 and enter the pipe up here. On the other side, run and jump on to the Finish Flag.

Have a Tanooki Tail for this level.

Part One

Star Coins: 1

This level introduces Donut Blocks. Step on a Donut and it will shudder before plummeting down, leaving you with nothing to stand on. Start by running and jumping across the first set to a Stingby on the other side. Hit the ? Block and the Brick Block, then jump off the ? Block to the higher platform. Behind it is a turnstile that takes you up to a pipe, so head inside. Jump on top of the first row of Brick Blocks here and collect all the Coins, then break a Block above you and jump through to the higher row. Up here you'll find Star Coin #1. Grab it and exit through the other pipe.

Hit the two Brick Blocks here and make your way north past the Chain Chomp. You can't kill it, but fireballs or Tail slaps stun it for a moment. Run across the Donut Blocks at high speed and grab the Star when you reach it. Sprint onward and run down the enemies ahead. At the end is a Red Ring. Grab it and gather the Red Coins that appear for a bonus. Keep moving forward past the next Stingby to the Checkpoint Flag.

Part Two

Star Coins: 2 + 3

Smash the Brick Blocks to the north and ascend the blocks. Make your way across the left path of Donut Blocks or climb the right path and jump to the left. There are Stopwatches leading skyward at the end so wall jump your way up to the top, grabbing them as you go. At the top is Star Coin #2; get it as you jump down to the Chomp. The ? Block above the Chomp releases five Coins spread evenly around the Block. Gather them if you want, then jump up to the Binoculars. Look up and right to see Toad. Zoom in and he'll throw a Star Coin down for you to get.

Leave the 'Nocs and climb the steps to the Donut Blocks. Jump from the top Blocks to Star Coin #3 and quickly get into the ! Block. Leg it across the next Donuts and climb the stairs they make to get some height before leaping on to the Finish Flag.

Part One

Star Coins: 1 + 2

Run north and jump up to the higher rope. Bounce on it to grab a few Coins and work you way over to the other side. On the next tightrope is a Fuzzy. You can't hurt them or stun them or whatever, so you have to be careful when navigating the ropes. Spring your way across the rope while avoiding the Fuzzy and pick up a few of the Coins circling around. At the other side, jump to the higher ledge and and ground pound the logs for a Coin. Bounce off the orange springy platform and land on the rope above. Hit the ? Block here for a Tanooki Leaf and then spring even higher to another rope. There are two Purple Arrow Blocks here. You can move them in the direction the arrow is pointing by hitting them from underneath like any other block. Move both the blocks up so that they are slightly higher than the top of the tree beside you. Bounce up to the Stopwatch, then climb the Purple Blocks to Star Coin #1 before dropping down to the ground.

Cross the tightrope and dodge the wrecking ball. Drop south and ground pound the log for three Coins, then bounce up the orange blocks to the ! Block. Run right and walk across the rope to another Purple Arrow Block. Move it closer to the next shadow and use it to reach the Rainbow Note Block high above. Bounce up into the clouds and hit the ? Block for a Star. Grab it before legging it along the path, wiping out enemies and picking up Coins. At the end of the path is Star Coin #2 so make sure to grab it before falling back down to the Checkpoint Flag.

Part Two

Star Coins: 3

Pound the log for a Coin and move north to two tightrope, each with a group of Fuzzies on it. The first high rope you come across has a ? Block (with a Tanooki Leaf) above it. Jump from here to the second high rope, then to the safe ground further north. Defeat the Goombas and kick the rock before jumping into the ! Block. Ground pound the log here for a Coin, then bounce up to the ropes using the orange bouncy block. The flying ? Block on the way up is a Coin Block, so get a few Coins as it flutters from side to side. Dodge the Fuzzy above you and bounce north to the next ropes. You can attempt to get the Mushroom for a Coin bonus if you want, just make sure to bounce straight after you grab it to avoid hitting the Fuzzies. Either way, get over to the other side and drop into the hole. This starts up a musical note trail, so pick 'em all up for a bonus. Just be careful with the last couple; you don't want to get hit by the spiky wrecking ball. Wait where the notes end for a flying ? Block to rock up. Don't hit it. Instead, jump on top of it and ride it out into the open. You'll reach Star Coin #3 and a ! Block to return you to safety. In this last area, get on the tightrope and then jump on to the flying ? Block to get enough height for the Finish Flag.

Part One

Star Coins: 1 + 2

The camera moves by itself for this level so keep up. Bounce off the first flying Biddybuds to get above the moving platform. Do the same again and get up to the Brick Blocks. The first holds a Tanooki Leaf if you need it. Use the next moving platform to Tail whip the Brick Blocks on the ground for some Coinage. Jump from here to a stack of Blocks and Star Coin #1. Whip the Biddybuds and keep moving right. The group of seven Brick Blocks have few Coins between them and the southmost Block is a Coin Block, but don't waste too much time on it. Leap across the Donut Blocks and get to a ? Block on a pink platform. It's a Coin Block and if you're fast enough you can empty it. Get on the Dount Block and ride it down to Star Coin #2. Bounce off the flying Biddybuds to get back up. If you don't quite get back up you can wall jump off the side and then off the pink platform. Jump into the ! Block here to get to the Checkpoint Flag.

Part Two

Star Coins: 3

The screen will start moving north now. Tail whip the Brick Blocks on either side for Coins and jump past the Biddybuds and Bricks further up. You'll eventually reach two ? Blocks. The right-hand Block is a Coin Block so quickly hit it to get all the Coins you can. The next section consists of platforms moving in the opposite direction of the camera that you need to jump across. Avoid or defeat the flying Biddybuds here and work your way up to Star Coin #3, which can be grabbed when a platform moves down the left side. A little further up is a platform with a ! Block so get in it (giggity) as soon as you can. At the other side is a set of stairs that you need to climb before the platforms fly away. Get to the top and jump to the Finish Flag.

Part One

Star Coins: 1

Straight away you'll notice spiked pillars form previous games making their first appearance here. There's also a Star Coin on the left side. Anyway, run forward and break the crates. A Bob-omb here will light its fuse and chase you. When it starts flashing red, it's about to blow. Keep heading north when the first pillar retracts and jump to the right-hand side where another Bob-omb is. Take it out and then wait for the pillar to move once more. When it's clear, run across to the left and jump to the platform with Star Coin #1. Hop back across to the right when it's safe and hit the ? Block and the Brick Block.

Jump up to the next ledge when the coast is clear. You have to make it all the way to the end in one shot. Jump right to the next area as soon as you can and watch for the spiky balls getting shot at you. Get past the cannon to find the next challenge is two of them shooting at you. Wait for an opportunity and then race past them, leaping to the next ledge straight away. Up top is the Checkpoint Flag.

Part Two

Star Coins: 2 + 3

Head north to the Binoculars. If you zoom right in on the pipe at the end of the road, you should be able to see a Star Coin at a lower altitude. Nice little pick up there. Anyhoo, prepare yourself for a good run. Jump the gap to the right and climb the Donut Blocks as the pillar retreats. (If you want a Fire Flower, drop to the south and break the crates here.) Sprint north and get to the platform between the Donuts. Hold still until the pillars to the right fly back and then run to the Coin. Grab it and wait. Let the pillars shoot out again before you continue along. When you reach the path split, go south and drop down to the lower ledge. Jump to the right to get Star Coin #2 and quickly hop back so you don't fall with the Donut Block. Jump back up and then leg it to the right when you get the chance. Cross the Donut bridge and climb to the top for a Mushroom in a crate if you want it. Enter the pipe when you're ready.

BOSS

BOOM BOOM - ROUND TWO

This is the same as the World 2 fight, except now you're on conveyor belts. Be careful when running around; you'll need to time your jumps a bit more to bonk him on the head. Otherwise, adopt the same strategy you used for him the first time around. Shouldn't be too difficult. Enter the pipe after picking up the Coins he drops.

Pick up the Stopwatch and climb the steps. Walk the plank, as it were, to find Star Coin #3 out on the left. After collecting it, climb to the top of the steps and jump to the Finish Flag.

Part One

Star Coins: 1 + 2

Head north and to the right to find two bushes next to each other. Run through them to scare out two Coin Coffers. Jump on their heads and continuously bounce until they pop. They give ten Coins apiece. Back to the left are three bushes together. Running through the northmost bush triggers a trail of musical notes. Collect them for the bonus. From here, jump up the steps and hit the Koopa so it retreats into its shell, then kick it at the Goombas. While the shell is ricocheting around, break the Brick Block just north of your position. Crouch walk through the tunnel it blocked for Star Coin #1. Drop back down to the right and use the Binoculars south of the stream. Zoom in on a Toad right at the very top of the left cliff. He'll chuck down an extra life for you. Run north and pick it up, then climb the tree to the right. At the top is a ? Block that turns into a Propeller Box. Grab it and spin your way on to the higher ledge. Ride the platforms up to two Brick Blocks and hit them for Coins, then jump to the orange bouncy block and land up above.

Defeat the Biddybuds here and gather the Coins, then bounce your way over to the Rainbow Note Block. Up in the clouds, get all the Coins that spell "3D" and then bounce to the next cloud. Jump and propel along the next clouds while collecting all the Coins. Use the orange springy blocks to reach the highest cloud and grab Star Coin #2 before falling back down. When you land, kick the Checkpoint Flag.

Part Two

Star Coins: 3

Run over to the Koopa and jump on it, then kick it along the bridge to knock out the Biddybuds, then run back to the Flag. Long jump to the left to a cannon and enter it. Aim towards the giant tree and right in front of you is Star Coin #3. Shoot out and grab it. You'll land next to two Brick Blocks that each have a Coin. Run to the right and jump over the Chain Chomp to the Red Ring and then bounce around, collecting the Red Coins while dodging the Chomp. Get your bonus and then spring up to the next level. Jump and spin past the Piranha Plants to the left to an orange block, which you can bounce off to a Stopwatch. Drop down and run back to when you jumped up. Head south from here to a set of Binoculars. Look right up high to see a Toad. Zoom in and he'll throw a Star down. Hurry over and pick it up, then bounce off the orange block in front of you to a slide. Leg it up the slide, annihilating all the Biddybuds in your path. Stop for a couple of Stopwatches towards the top, then continue up. If you want, run back down to the Brick Block - which is a Coin Block - and empty it. At the top, hit the ? Block for a Coin, then stand on top of it and jump for an extra life. Grab that and then bounce off the orange platforms and off a Biddybuds to the Finish Flag.
