Question from roxasblades

Do you need seperate portals for each console?

I plan on buying this for the Xbox 360 and 3DS, and I was wondering if I'll need a portal for each system.

Although all versions of this game come with a portal, the portals are all cross a certain extent.

All portals work with the PC version of the Video Game, as well as the web game, through drivers (I believe they all use the "360" driver when connected USB).

PS3 and X360 both use the same portal, and they both are interchangable.

Wii version comes with a cordless portal, as in the portal has a dongle that connects to the Wii, and the portal itself communicates with the dongle (This is similar to the DJ hero dongles for the 360 and PS3 versions). The Wii game is suposedly compatible with all the other portals as long as the portal you want to use is connected before you start the game (at the Wii menu). I have not confirmed this myself.

The 3DS version of the game requires the 3DS portal for the infrared receiver at the front of the device (the other versions may be able to use IR if the portal is dissasembled and an IR sensor is connected to the PCB, however, I cannot confirm this myself as I only have the 3DS portal).

Yes but both versions come with a portal that function diffrently i.e the 3ds has infared and can link up to the skylanders website but can only hold 1 figure where as the 360 portal can hold 3 figures 2 characters and an item/location

Im pretty shure its diffrent for each system but you cant buy the game without the figures and portal because you need them to play the game. 3ds is the smallest one it can only hold one at a time
BUT i have found out that stealth elf and initor fit at one but i will prbobly crash the game but im not shure
so i posted a question about the 2 at once thing.
so yes, they are diffrent but each come with the game
ps sorry this is is a little long.

Skylanders answered:

My friend said that his PS3 portal worked on his brothers Xbox. They are both USB and a similar size, so i dont see why not.

Yes. The 3DS and Wii Portals are unique, and although the 360 and PS3 Portals look and connect similarly, officially Activision say you may have trouble loading/saving stats to figures if not using the correct Portal.
