No cross gen trading?

So just got this game and when I got home I was looking at the back of the case and noticed it said it can only communicate with either X or Y.

Anybody else curious as to WHY they made it that way?

I think its cause once Dec. Comes the Pokemon Bank will be up and you can Put b/2W/2 pokemon in the bank and take them out on X and Y and Plus Pokemon B/W/2 are DS games and X/Y is 3DS games and their made differently PLus Pokemon in X/Y cant be sended to B/W/2 so they dont match.

B/W probably don't support the location codes for the new region. The change to moves, such as the base power for hydro pump, and movepools (not yet fully disclosed) could also be confusing between generations. With the re categorizing of certain pokemon to include the new type, and the additional abilities would cause more dis-junction between games. Just easier to allow for one way trades up to the new gen.

There is a difference in the way 3DS games, and regular DS games, communicate. This prevents them from talking directly to each other. This affects all DS/3DS games, not just Pokemon. The Pokemon Bank is essentially a work-around. You will be able to upload your Pokemon from B/W/B2/W2 to a central server. You will then be able to access it with X/Y. They will be charging $5 / year to maintain the server farm and provide 24/7 unlimited access.
