BOSS: Braev the Templar

Key Stats: 47250 HP (3 times), Human, weak to Dark.

Strategy: All attacks he uses are physical, but deal fairly high damage. He tends to build up BP a lot. The first and second time you defeat him, he will recover all HP. Heart Strike is an elementless physical attack that is always a critical hit, while Radiant Strike does light damage. Giant Strike also does high amounts of damage. These attacks are all single target and can be mitigated by a Knight with high defense and Protect Ally.

Reward: 2000 EXP, 200 JP, Elixir

After the battle, you'll unlock the templar job.

Go up and follow the path to Everlast Tower.

Sidequest ~ Vampire Castle ~ Go to Vampire Castle.

Everlast Tower

Enter Everlast Tower. Go right and exit to unlock airship travel to Everlast Tower. Go back in and go up the stairs to 2F. Go to the lower right to find a chest with a Turbo Ether. Go down the stairs to the right to 1F to find a room with a chest containing an Ancient Bow. Go left, then up to find a chest with an X-Potion. Go to the upper right corner of 2F and go down the stairs to 1F. Go down to find a chest with an Earth Drum. Go left and follow the path. Along the way, go up into the left window to find a hidden passage to a chest with a Rune Blade. At the stairs, go down and take the left branch to find a chest with a Turbo Ether. Now take the right branch down. Go up the stairs to 2F and go right to obtain the Deus Ex summon if you want. Go back to the central room in 2F. Go to the lower right corner and take the stairs up to 3F.

Follow the path to find a chest with a Kiku-Ichimonji. Go to the upper right corner on 2F and take the stairs up to 3F. Follow the path left until you reach the locked blue chest, then go down, then right, and follow the path to a chest with an Elixir. Go back to the locked chesy, go right, then down. Go up the stairs to 4F.

Go up, then all the way left, then go down and follow the path to a chest with a Dark Shield. Go back up, go all the way right, then go down to find a chest with a Gold Hourglass. From here,  go left, then down, then left past another set of stairs, go down the passage at the end to find a chest with a Dragon Fang, then go down the stairs you just passed to 3F. Follow the path to the lower right to the stairs to 4F. Go left all the way to take the stairs to the Temple of Earth.

Go right, skip the narrow passage down, and inspect the area in the next room. Go right, then down to find a chest with an Earth Charm. Go up, then right into the next room and inspect the area. Go up, right, then up to find a chest with an Earth Mallet. Go left, then up and inspect the next room. Go left, then down the narrow passage to find a chest with a Light Curtain. Go to the save point, then enter the next area, the Altar of Earth.

BOSS: Gigas Lich

Key Stats: 108000 HP, Undead, weak to Light.

Strategy: Negative Power boosts its attack power and magic power. Slam hits all party members, Quaga does high amounts of earth damage, Fear causes dread and Death causes instant death. Healing spells are highly effective for healing and damage, especially with the ability Holy One from the spiritmaster, as Curada does 6000+ damage to the Lich, while also being able to heal the party. BP increasing skills cause a decrease in BP when used on undead enemies, so One More For You or BP Drink can work.

Reward: 6000 EXP, 999 JP, Giant Axe

After this, awaken the earth crystal by pressing X repeatedly. You'll gain an extra point for support abilities.

The Holy Pillar

Exit the Temple of Earth. Go to an area where you can use the airship. Fly to the light at the bottom right corner of the world map and enter the portal to face the final boss (?).

BOSS: Alternis

Key Stats: 135000 HP, Human.

Strategy: Black Bane does dark damage to all party members, but can be evaded. Minus Strike does more damage at lower HP and disregards defense. Since all the attacks are physical, using Utsusemi makes this fight easy. Alternatively, raising P. Def can help survive the attacks, although Minus Strike is still a problem. However, Alternis never uses Minus Strike if he has one or more BP at the start of the turn and will just use Black Bane followed by Dark Bane, meaning if you have dark immunity or sufficient defense, it makes the battle easy as well.

Reward: 6000 EXP, 999 JP, Dark Matter, Megalixir

Beating Alternis gives you the Dark Knight job.

There are some hidden items in the Eternia Region. In Eternia, go to the entrance of the Central Healing Tower, go left behing the house and look down, then inspect the area to find an Elixir. Go to the far right of Eternia and inspect the area to find an Arctic Wind. In Gravemark Village, inspect the third pillar from the left in the bottom row to find an Ice Charm. In the Central Healing Tower, inspect the upper right corner of Mahzer's room to find a Rebuff Locket.

Chapter 5

This isn't over yet. You'll be back in Caldisla again, though this time it has changed. Tiz will be the only person in the party for the meantime. Enter Norende Ravine. Go all the way to the Giant Chasm. Agnes will rejoin your party. Go back to Caldisla. Go up and speak to Ringabel. Go to the graveyard and talk to Edea. Go to the inn.

You'll need to awaken all four crystals again. All areas on the World Map will have more difficult enemies.

You'll also be able to battle against the bosses you've beaten. (Note that to rematch some bosses, you need to repeat a task that you did earlier to get to that boss.) The Pirate rematch will not be available until the water crystal is awakened, and the Swordmaster and Ninja rematches will not be available until the fire crystal is awakened.

IMPORTANT NOTE

From this point on, you can decide to break the crystals by repeatedly pressing X, even after Airy tells you to stop. You'll get several warnings, but ignore them and keep going. Doing this will immediately bring you to the endgame.

Go to the Temple of Fire. Enter the altar.

BOSS: Othros

Key Stats: 67500 HP for each head, Beast, blue head weak to fire and immune to water, red head weak to water and immune to fire.

New Strategy: The Iceflame Shield nullifies fire and water damage, but will not protect against Blazzard. However, Blazzard can be disabled by hitting each head with the element it's weak to. Evasion moves do work, but because it's possible for the enemy to attack the entire party twice in a single turn, it's not practical here.

For this boss, it's best if you use jobs with high defense and a Spiritmaster/White Mage. Default Guard (Templar Lvl 6) is very useful. If using this, use Default to get to 3-4 BP, then attack. Equip your healer with the Iceflame Shield. Get rid of one head first to stop them from using Blazzard. You can steal extra Iceflame Shields from Kobold Slashers found in the overworld in Caldisla if you desire.

Reward: 12000 EXP, 999 JP, Bomb Arm, Arctic Wind

Go to the Temple of Water and enter the altar.

BOSS: Rusalka

Key Stats: 81000 HP, Aquatic, weak to Lightning

New Strategy: The water clones now have 13500 HP. If you can, use the Salve-Maker's compounding ability to get rid of the clones. (Compounding 2 Fulmen Shards with Attack Item Amp 4 times deals exactly 13500 damage). Every attack except Bewitching Voice can be evaded with Utsusemi. Iceflame Shields or water immunity/resistance can also be used to reduce or nullify the damage from Dark Flow.

Reward: 12000 EXP, 999 JP, Turbo Ether

You'll need to travel to the Yulyana Woods again to get the vestal garb repaired. After stopping at Yulyana Woods, go to the Vestment Cave. When you enter Vestment Cave, only Tiz and Agnes will be in the party. Go to the bottom of Vestment Cave and talk to the sage. Exit the cave.

Go to the Temple of Fire and enter the altar.

BOSS: Chaugmar

Key Stats: 94500 HP, Demon, weak to Lightning.

New Strategy: Utsusemi can be used to avoid Energy Burst. Your main source of damage will be from items. Otherwise, this is similar to the first time, except harder. Alternatively, Rampart from the Templar works well to block Energy Burst, and Pierce M. Defense from the Black Mage (level 12) also helps to deal damage using Thundaga. Pressure Point and Godspeed Strike can also deal damage during the phase where he is using his shield.

Reward: 12000 EXP, 999 JP, Reflect Ring

Go to the Temple of Earth and enter the altar.

BOSS: Gigas Lich

Key Stats: 135000 HP, Undead, weak to Light.

New Strategy: Gigas Lich now has higher stats and tends to use the Death spell more often, making it somewhat harder. Otherwise, it's similar to the previous battle.

Reward: 12000 EXP, 999 JP, Giant Axe

Go to the light again.

BOSS: Alternis

Key Stats: 135000 HP, Human.

Strategy: Alternis has higher stats than last time, so Dark resistance can help a little. Alternately, steal Dark Shields from Skull Knights in the Eisen Region before going to this battle. Otherwise it's similar to last time.

Reward: 999 JP, Dark Shield

In the Grandship on the sea, you can find hidden items. Go down from the exit to the sea to find an Antarctic Wind. In the Sea Slug Tavern, inspect the lamp in the top area to find a Flame Charm. Go to the far left and inspect the area to find a Bacchus's Wine. On the Upper Deck, go to the upper right and inspect the box to find 1000 pg. In the markets, go to the far left and inspect the area to find an X-Potion. In the Bridge area, go up to the telescope and inspect the area nearby to find a Turbo Ether.

Chapter 6

So, you thought this was over right? No, not yet...

First, find the chest key by inspecting the small black spot on Grandship. This will allow you to unlock blue chests.

Also, you get to battle all the old bosses again...

Go to the Temple of Wind and enter the altar.

BOSS: Othros

Key Stats: 87750 HP for each head, Beast, blue head weak to fire and immune to water, red head weak to water and immune to fire.

Reward: 24000 EXP, 999 JP, Bomb Arm, Arctic Wind

Go to the Temple of Water and enter the altar,

BOSS: Rusalka

Key Stats: 87750 HP, Aquatic, weak to Lightning. Summoned clones have 14850 HP.

New Strategy: Getting rid of the clones as soon as possible is advised unless your party has high defense (350+).

Reward: 24000 EXP, 999 JP, Turbo Ether

Go to the Temple of Fire and enter the altar.

BOSS: Chaugmar

Key Stats: 101250 HP, Demon, weak to Lightning.

Reward: 24000 EXP, 999 JP, Reflect Ring

Go back to Yulyana Woods. Go to Vestment Cave and get to the bottom floor. Talk to the sage, then return back to the entrance and go up.

Sidequest ~ Sage Yulyana ~ Go to Yulyana Woods

Next, go to the Temple of Earth and enter the altar.

BOSS: Gigas Lich

Key Stats: 148500 HP, Undead, weak to Light.

Reward: 24000 EXP, 999 JP, Giant Axe

Go back to the Holy Pillar.

SPOILER! Highlight to View

AIRY LIES! It's even on the title screen sometime...

How many times can this go wrong...

Optional: You can rebattle old bosses, but now they come in groups.

Anyway, go back to the Temple of Wind.

BOSS: Othros

Key Stats: 94500 HP for each head, Beast, blue head weak to fire and immune to water, red head weak to water and immune to fire.

Next, go to the Temple of Water.

BOSS: Rusalka

Key Stats: 94500 HP, Aquatic, weak to Lightning. Summoned clones have 16200 HP.

Next, go to the Temple of Fire.

BOSS: Chaugmar

Key Stats: 108000 HP, Demon, weak to Lightning.

Go to the Temple of Earth.

BOSS: Gigas Lich

Key Stats: 162000 HP, Undead, weak to Light.

Go to the Holy Pillar (again).

SPOILER! Highlight to View

AIRY LIES AGAIN!

Optional: Chapter 8 Boss Rematches ~ The battles get harder again...

Go to the Temple of Wind.

BOSS: Othros

Key Stats: 101250 HP for each head, Beast, blue head weak to fire and immune to water, red head weak to water and immune to fire.

Go to the Temple of Water.

BOSS: Rusalka

Key Stats: 101250 HP, Aquatic, weak to Lightning. Summoned clones have 17550 HP.

Go to the Temple of Fire.

BOSS: Chaugmar

Key Stats: 114750 HP, Demon, weak to Lightning.

Go to the Temple of Earth.

BOSS: Gigas Lich

Key Stats: 175500 HP, Undead, weak to Light.

When you are done with everything you want, go to the Holy Pillar.

Endgame

The ending you get depends on whether you listened to Airy or not.

  • If you didn't listen and you decided to break a crystal, go straight to the Dark Aurora section. You'll fight Airy without Agnes after you break the crystal, but you won't be able to win. You can access the bonus dungeon, Dimension's Hasp, by talking to Lord DeRosso (only up to floor 9).
  • Otherwise, continue on.
SPOILER! Highlight to View

This time Airy doesn't lie...at least regarding the Giant Chasm...

Go to the main deck of the Grandship.

BOSS: Airy

Key Stats: 202500 HP, Bug, weak to Fire

Strategy: All attacks are physical. Slaughter does damage to all party members, Tight Bind causes Stop and attacks do have a chance to cause Poison. Spike Guard causes a counter when hit by a physical attack. Use highly defensive characters and bring Stop and Poison Immunity. The boss has 525 attack, so getting your P. Def over 525 will reduce damage to a minimum. The battle will end just before Airy reaches low HP.

BOSS: Airy (2nd time)

Key Stats: 134998 HP, Bug, weak to Fire

Strategy: This time, Airy uses magic based attacks. Acedia makes you weak to all elements. Use Enigma to reverse the effect of this. Dark Nebula can be very effective with Enigma. Just make sure to cast Adaptation on whoever uses it so they recover health from it. Sometime in the battle, Airy will also recover back to full HP. A good thing to note is that BP Recovery triggers upon Acedia, meaning that a Spiritmaster can cast Enigma next turn without losing too much BP overall.

Reward: 60000 EXP, 999 JP

After both battles, Tiz will be the only person in the party. go to the main deck and talk to Edea. Next, go to the tavern and talk to Agnes. Go back to the bridge. Now go to Yulyana Woods.

Optional Dungeon ~ Dimension's Hasp ~ Go to the centre of the crescent island with Grandship and enter.

Go to Norende Ravine and go to the Giant Chasm.

Dark Aurora

Welcome to the last dungeon in the game!

Go left to find the first chest with a Safety Ring. Go down and follow the path. Go all the way to the left to find a chest with a Megalixir, Go up and enter the portal to 2F. Go down, then left to find a chest with a Lamia's Tiara. Go right to find a chest with a Life Ring. Take the left path down to find a chest with a Black Belt. Continue down to reach the portal to 3F.

Go down. There are two chests with a Heart Ring and a Megalixir. Next, go right and follow the path all the way to the left to go to 6F. There is a chest with a Blood Blade. Go back to the portal. Go down to reach the portal to 6F. Follow the path and go down to find a chest with Lordly Robes. Take the portal to the left down to 4F.

Go right to find a chest with a Gold Hairpin. Go left and follow the path. Go all the way right to find a chest with a Ribbon. Go up to take the portal to 6F. Take the left branch up and take the portal to 5F. Go right, then down to find a chest with an Aegis Shield. Go up, right, then down to find a chest with a Lilith's Rod. Go right, then down to find a chest with a Brave Suit. Go right and take the portal to 6F.

At this point, if you've opened every chest and done every sidequest and bought all the equipment available in the shops (except Bonus Items from Norende), you should have a complete encyclopedia of items. If you've been doing battles as you've gone along, it is also likely that you've completed the Bestiary except for the Boss section.

When you are ready, go up the middle path and enter the portal. Follow the path and enter the portal.

Normal Ending

If you broke a crystal, you'll face this version of Airy, otherwise, you'll face the other, more difficult version.

BOSS: Airy

Key Stats: 202500 HP, Bug, weak to Fire

Strategy: All attacks are physical. Slaughter does damage to all party members, Tight Bind causes Stop. Spike Guard causes a counter when hit by a physical attack. The battle ends when Airy reaches low HP.

Reward: 60000 EXP, 999 JP

Once you've beaten Airy, the game ends here. You'll get the vestal garb as a constume. You can go back and get the other ending later if you want.

True Ending

If you didn't break a crystal, you'll face this version instead.

BOSS: Airy (3rd time)

Key Stats: 134998 HP (three times), Bug, weak to Fire

Strategy: Bring Fairy Ward to combat the status effects here. Also bring BP Recovery to gain 2 BP every time Airy uses Acedia. Slaughter is a strong physical attack which causes Poison, Plague causes death to foes with status conditions. Dark Abyss causes fear to foes. Dark Knights work well due to Absorb Magic, and the Ninja's Utsusemi also works. If she defaults, she uses Acedia followed by magic, so it's hard to protect against it, although Absorb Magic works. Alternatively, status effects such as Sleep and Fear can help to reduce damage, though you'll need to inflict sleep weakness through Withering Ripple to have a decent chance. Alternatively, this setup works and can be done without taking a single point of damage: 3rd Airy Build

Reward: 20000 EXP, 999 JP

If you need to go back to the save point, you can go back now. Otherwise continue forward.

Boss: Ouroboros (phase 1)

Key Stats: 202500 HP, Dragon

Strategy: This boss will use abilties that you have learned over the course of the game, primarily the abilities your current characters have. When he gets to low HP, you'll move to phase 2.

BOSS: Ouroboros (phase 2)

Key Stats: 135000 HP, Dragon, weak to Water.

Strategy: You can't do any lasting damage. Wait until the battle is over.

BOSS: Ouroboros (phase 3)

Key Stats: 202500 HP, Dragon, weak to Water.

Strategy: Demonic Touch causes everyone to lose 1 BP. But it can be evaded. Zero Dimension causes instant death. The battle is very easy with a Ninja using Utusemi, then Kairai against temselves, if they have protection against death. The battle finishes at 50% HP

BOSS: Ouroboros (phase 4)

Key Stats: 270000 HP, Dragon, weak to Water.

Strategy: Demonic Touch causes everyone to lose 1 BP. But it can be evaded. Zero Dimension causes instant death. The battle is very easy with a Ninja using Utusemi, then Kairai against temselves, if they have protection against death. Armegeddon occurs when Ouroboros has lost a certain amount of HP, has a character with high defense to protect against this. After a certain amount of time, the battle will end.

I hope you've made many friends and summons, because you're going to need them!

BOSS: Ouroboros (Final)

Key Stats: 270000 HP, Dragon, weak to Water.

Strategy: This is this final battle. Keep your friends around, since Ouroboros can use an attack (Divergence) that locks out your other commands. Disaster will do a lot of damage as well, so be wary. A strategy for all 5 phases that works can be found here: Final Boss Battle

Reward: 99999 EXP, 999 JP

After this, enjoy the credits! You've gotten to the end of the game!

If you restart the game, you will be back in Chapter 8. This way you can get the other ending if your desire.

Sidequests

These sidequests allow you to get new jobs, expanding the range of possibilities. Most sidequests will remain available until the end of the chapter (with a few exceptions). You do not have to do them straight away.

Profiteur Merchantry

Enter the house to the far right of Ancheim and talk to the Profiteur at the desk. Go out and interact with the well to the left of the house. Then exit Ancheim and go to the oasis. After this, go to the cave in the northwest to Harena Ruins.

Take the first left at the branching path, then go right at the next branch. Follow the path to the stairs to get to a room with a chest containing a Star Pendant. Go back up, then go left at the branch, go around to find a chest with 1 pg. Continue down the stairs to B1. Go left to find a chest with Echo Herbs. Go back down, then right to find a chest with 1500 pg. Go down the passage, then to the right to find a chest with a Clothespin. Go to the left, then down to find the way to the stairs to B2. Go further down to get a chest with an Iron Bow. Go the the right to reach the Save Point. Contiue through to the thieves' den. Talk to begin a boss battle between Khint and The Jackal. Before the boss it is recommended to get special moves for swords, knuckles and staves by rebuilding Norende Village. The recommended party set up is 3 physical professions and one White Mage. Equip the White Mage with an accessory with Silence immunity. Being level 15 or higher is recommended.

BOSS: Khint

Key Stats: 6750 HP, Human.

Strategy: Khint can use Sword Magic Fire or Sword Magic Silence. Once Khint is below about 50% health, or The Jackal is below 50% health he'll leave, making the fight much easier. Use special moves such as Moonblast and Hack and Slash to make this easier.

BOSS: The Jackal

Key Stats: 6750 HP, Human.

Strategy: The Jackal can use Steal to steal one of your items, or use a Potion to heal 500 HP. After Khint has left, he'll start attcking 3-4 times in one turn. Using Default to build up to 3 BP, then using quad/special attacks will finish off this fight easily. It is worth noting that if you don't have any Potions in your bag, he can't steal them, which means he is unable to heal.

Reward: 720 pg, 360 EXP, 36 JP, Hi-Potion

After this battle, you'll be able to switch to the thief class, which can steal items. Go back to Ancheim to the merchant, and now you'll battle the Chairmaster Profiteur and Khint.

BOSS: Chairman Profiteur

Key Stats: 8100 HP, Human.

Strategy: Attack him first. When he's below half HP, Khint will leave again, making this fight much easier. Every odd turn, he'll use Default, and every second turn he'll use Takeover twice, which does 300 damage each time. Attack him on this turn. Default won't protect you against Takeover though. Occassionally he will use Pay to Play, but this isn't too threatening.

Reward: 720 pg, 360 EXP, 36 JP, Gold Hourglass

After beating the Chairman, you can switch to the Merchant class. This class can make more money in battles, but can also spend money to deal more damage. You'll need to wait until you've finished the Wind Temple story before continuing the next quest.

Next Main Quest ~ Temple of Wind

Grand Mill Works

Once you have finished the Wind Temple quest and the Chairman quest, at night, go to Ancheim and enter the windmill. Go to the door to get access to the Grand Mill Works. Go in, and at the first branch go down to find a chest with a Remedy. Go up at the intersection to the stairs to 3F, Go along the path, go right at the first intersection and left at the second, then go down the stairs to 2F to find 3 chest, one which is locked. You'll find Thumbing Claws and an Earthing Rod. Go back up to 3F and go right to find a chest with a Phoenix Down. Go back down to 2F using the stairs at the top. Go up tho other set of stairs to 3F. Go to the far right and go up and activate the lever. Go down at the intersection to a set of stairs to 2F. Take the left path at the intersection to find a chest with an X-Potion. Now go to the right to the stairs to 3F. Take the left path to find a chest with a Hi-Potion. Go down the stairs on the right path to 2F. Follow the path to find a chest with an Ether. Go up the stairs on the left to 3F and activate the lever. Go back to the save point, go into the elevator which is now open, and activate the lever. Go across until you reach the end of the palace. Now you'll enter a boss battle with Khint and Khamer. If you beat the boss in the Wind Temple, you should be fine here.

BOSS: Khint

Key Stats: 8100 HP, Human.

Strategy: Khint can use Sword Magic Fire or Sword Magic Silence. Khint will not leave the fight this time. Use special moves such as Monnblast and Hack and Slash to make this easier.

Reward: 720 pg, 360 EXP, 36 JP, Hi-Potion

BOSS: Khamer

Key Stats: 8100 HP, Human.

Strategy: Khamer can use Stop to put one party member into inaction for a while, as well as Veilga which increases his team's evasion., as well as Quara to do earth damage. Khamer can use Default, so watch out or use moves like Qigong Wave to bypass Default if you're attacking. Take him out before Khint to make the battle easier. Protect and Shell will help if you're taking too much damage.

Reward: 720 pg, 360 EXP, 36 pg, Ether

After you win the battle you can change jobs to Spell Fencer, which plays like a warrior, but can add additional magic effects to their attacks, as well as a Time Mage, which can alter the order of battle. This will end this sidequest.

Next Main Quest ~ Chapter 2

In Search of Petalhue

After getting this quest, go up into the next part of town and speak to the girl just right of the intersection. Next, go to the item store. Exit Florem. Get to the topright of the area by crossing the bridges to the right and going up. Watch the cutscene. You'll then battle against a Legion Impaler and Legion Mage. Continue right to a large tree, then enter the hideout to the Twisted Treetop. You'll battle against Artemia, a Legion Impaler and a Legion Mage. Being level 23 or higher is recommended.

BOSS: Artemia

Key Stats: 20250 HP, Human, weak to Fire.

Strategy: Get rid of the Legion Impaler and Legion Mage first. Artemia will use Default to build up BP, then use Multiburst to do high damage to the party. Bring lots of Fire based attacks. Use Protect to increase defense if required. Bring party wide healing such as Cura to offset the damage from Multiburst.

Reward: 194 pg, 1930 EXP, 194 JP, X-Potion

After this battle you can switch jobs to Ranger which specialises in exploiting enemy weaknesses.

Searching for Sisters

Go west to the blue ! marker from Florem. You'll need to fight 6 Alaraune. These are weak to fire.

Go left to enter Florem Gardens. Watch out for Purple Flowers which can cause Silence. Go to the right and follow the path to find a chest with 500 pg, then go aroun to find a chest with a Hi-Potion. Go left, then down to find a chest with an X-Potion. Take the left exit and follow the path to find 2 chest with an Ether and 1000 pg. Go back and take the right exit to the top, and follow the path to find a chest with a Tomahawk. Both parts will lead to an exit at the top. Go straight to find the save point. Go left and go along the path to fin a chest with a Remedy. Take the far right branch and go down to find a chest with a Tengu Yawn. In the branch to the left of this, there is a chest with a Turbo Ether. It's not possible to avoid the purple areas, so bring Echo Herbs for spellcasters. Go and enter the next area for a boss battle against Mephilia. Being Level 25+ with lever 6 or higher jobs is recommended.

BOSS: Mephilia

Key Stats: 13498 HP, Human.

Strategy: She can use Summon Soldiers to spawn two extra enemies, making your task tougher. She can use Girtablulu to do high earth damage to your party as well. The Legion Archer summoned has high HP and can also inflict Confusion with Chaos Arrow, so target it first. The main strategy here is similar to other bosses. Use Shell to reduce damage from Girtabrulu, and get rid of the summoned enemies first. Lightning damage is effective against the summons. Mephilia will always move once a turn.

Reward: 1800 EXP, 180 JP, Turbo Ether

After this battle, you'll be able to switch to the summoner job, which can summon powerful monsters. This ends this sidequest. You'll be teleported back to Florem.

Next Main Quest ~ Revisiting Yulyana

A Preventable Tragedy

Go towards the area to the north to enter the Witherwood. At the first branch, go right to find a chest with a Remedy. At the next branch, go left to find a chest with a Phoenix Down, then go right and follow the path to a chest with 500 pg. Continue forward to obtain a chest with a Sleep Blade. Go back to the left branch and go forward to the next area. Go to the far right to find a chest with an Aeolian Bow. Go left, then go up, then left again to find a chest with a Teleport Stone, then left and up again to find a chest with 1000 pg. Continue to the right to the next area. Go down to get a chest with an Ether. Go back up, then right to get a chest with a Hi-Potion. Go down, then to the left to find a chest with an X-Potion. Continue right, then go down and follow the path. Get to the save point, then proceed up to get to the boss battle. A level 28 or higher party is recommended with high job levels (at least level 7)

BOSS: Einheria

Key Stats: 27000 HP, Human.

Strategy: Crescent Moon does damage to the entire party, but costs an additional 1 BP. She has high physical defense but low magic defense, so using magic is recommended. Sword Magic works as well. At lower HP, she uses Spirit Barrier, which means attacks make her lose MP instead. As she often spends high amounts of BP, using Default, then attacking during the turns where she has negative BP is safest. Jump allows her to do large amounts of damage to one party member the next turn, but consumes her BP.

Reward: 1800 EXP, 180 JP, Valkyrie Halberd

After beating the boss, you'll be able to change jobs to Valkyrie.

A Playboy's Palaver

Rest at the inn to progress the quest. Next, enter Florem at night and go to the plaza. Talk to the group of two girls in the plaza. Next, go towards the couple and watch the cutscene.

After the long cutscene, you'll be facing off against a boss, DeRosa. A level 30 or higher party, with high job level is recommended.

BOSS: DeRosa

Key Stats: 27000 HP, Human.

Strategy: He can use Cura to restore about 2000 HP, Thundara to cause high lightning damage to the party and can charm members of the party. He also has Revenge, which increases BP by 1 when taking damage some of the time. He can also cast Fear to cause Dread on the entire party. Make sure you have Thunder resistance from getting the Summoner Job to level 2, as this makes the fight much easier. To cure charm, you can attack the character (preferably with a white mage so it only does 1 damage).

Reward: 1800 EXP, 180 JP, Mirage Vest

After the battle, you'll unlock the Red Mage job, which can use both offensive and defensive magic.

Next Main Quest ~ Finding Olivia

The Ghostly Vessel

While travelling by ship, look for a cloud of grey fog in the ocean. Select 'Board'. Talk with the pirate to start a boss battle against Barbarossa. If you beat the boss in the Water Temple, you should be fine.

BOSS: Barbarossa

Key Stats: 60750 HP, Human, weak to Lightning.

Strategy: He only uses physical moves. He can use Double Damage, Defang to drop attack, Shell Split to drop defense. He will often use attacks 2 or 3 times in one turn, allowing you to recover in between those turns. Use Default on the turns he attacks, then attack/heal on the turns where he has negative BP. Since his attacks only hit one target, he's not too threatening.

Reward: 3000 EXP, 360 JP, Bacchus's Wine

After you win, you'll be able to switch to the Pirate job, which can inflict high amounts of physical damage.

You can revisit this area later: just go to the cloud of dark mist. Go to the far left of the ship and inspect the area to find 2000 pg. Inspect the area just in front of the pole near the entrance to find a Viking Axe.

Next Main Quest ~ Grapp Keep

Commander Goodman's Woes

Note: If you clear Chapter 3 before finishing this quest, you will not be able to complete it until Chapter 5 because you lose access to the Grandship on the sea.

Go to the ship in the middle of the sea. Enter the tavern, then talk to the elder left of the entrance. Travel to Ancheim. Talk to the person in front of the clock. Travel to Caldisla. Talk to the person just down from the magic shop. Travel to Florem. Go to the plaza. Go to the stage area and talk to the man. Go to Hartschild. Talk to the man in front of the fountain. Go back to the ship. Go to the tavern. Exit the ship and go back to the bridge. Talk to Commander Goodman and select Do battle again. If you beat the boss in the Water Temple, you should be fine.

BOSS: Praline

Key Stats: 54000 HP, Human.

Other Enemies: Black Axefighter: 4050 HP, Human, weak to Lightning. Black Blade: 3780 HP, Human, weak to Lightning. The resummoned ones have 2700 HP.

Strategy: Praline uses One More for You to increase another ally's BP by 1. She can use Bodyguards to summon her guards again. Love Power boosts their attack. Put the guards to sleep as the Black Blade can cause confusion, while the Black Axefighter can drop defense. Use Dispel if Praline uses Love Power. Keeping one guard alive prevents her from resummoning them.

Reward: 422 pg, 3317 EXP, 393 JP, Star Corslet, Stardust

After you defeat the boss, you'll be able to choose the Performer Job.

Next Main Quest ~ The Mythril Mines

Starkfort

Go into Starkfort again. Go up until you reach a locked door, then go left, then up the stairs to 2F. Go down to the end, then go left to find a chest with 1000 pg. Go right, then up the stairs to a boss battle with Qada. Make sure all your characters have more than 1000 HP and an accessory giving immunity to poison.

BOSS: Qada

Key Stats: 54000 HP, Human.

Strategy: Qada uses Water of Life (regen), Poison Hi-Potion (does 1000 damage and inflicts poison), Dark Breath (deals damage equal to the amount of damage the user has taken). If he uses Default on a turn, he will act three times the next turn, using Dark Breath, Poison Hi-Potion and a regular attack. Use the one turn you have after this to revive party members. Make sure to use Dispel to cancel out Regen.

Reward: 3000 EXP, 360 JP, Dragon Fang

After the battle, you'll be able to switch to the Salve-Maker profession, which specialises in using items. You'll also unlock Compounding.

Next Main Quest ~ The Fire Temple

Starkfort Revisited

Go into Starkfort. This time, go straight ahead through the door that was locked last time and go up the stairs to 2F. You'll find 4 chests which contain a Dragon Fang, a Bacchus's Wine, an Ice Charm, and the fourth one is locked. Go down to the stairs to 3F. Go up, then right to find a chest with an X-Potion. Go to the far left, then down to find a hidden passage leading to a chest with a Safety Ring. Go to the upper left of the area and go up the stairs to 4F. Follow the path down, then go down the stairs at the end to 3F to find a chest with a Courage Ring. Go back to the previous area, then take the stairs to the upper right area. Follow the path. Go down at the first branch to find a chest with a Kunai. Continue along the path, and take the stairs to 5F. Go to the right, then take the stairs down to 4F to find a chest with a Turbo Ether. Go to the top left corner to find a chest with Power Bracers. Save, then go up to 6F.

BOSS: Kamiizumi

Key Stats: 81000 HP, Human.

Strategy: Nothing Ventured counters physical attacks, while Before Swine can counter magic. Know Thine Enemy will activate a counterattack if the target attacks. At lower HP, he'll attack 3 times in one turn. Use Default to reduce damage that turn and recover on the following turns. Items and compounding are of use here.

Reward: 3000 EXP. 360 JP, X-Potion

After this battle, you'll be able to change to the swordmaster job, which specialises in making counterattacks.

Next Main Quest ~ Searching for an Airship

Tragedy at the Banquet

Talk to all 3 people at the bottom of the stairs. Go upstairs and talk to Eleanor. Go to the front door, then go right and enter the cellar.

BOSS: Kikyo

Key Stats: 81000 HP, Human.

Strategy: Utsusemi causes the next physical attack to miss and be countered. She also has an attack that will go first no matter what, which she will often use on targets at low health. This can be exploited if you have plenty of Phoenix Downs (or equivalent) as she will tend to get stuck in a loop, allowing you to do damage with the other two characters. Alternatively, a Knight with high defense can keep low health party members safe.

Reward: 3000 EXP, 360 JP, Kunai

After this battle, you'll be able to switch to the Ninja job.

Vampire Castle

You'll need to find 6 keystones and beat the boss before continuing. These are at locations with tall stone pillars. All attacks except the Eye attacks are all physical, so using evasion strategies such as Utsusemi will help. Each of the dragons have a common skillset, except each focuses on a different element.

Here's a strategy that will allow you to win on Auto-Battle and doesn't require too much leveling:

BUILD: 4 x Ninja/Any

Items: High Agility Equipment, Daggers in both hands.

Abilities Required: Utsusemi (Ninja Lv. 4), Transience (Ninja Lv. 2), Turn Tables (Red Mage Lv. 4), Comeback Kid (Ninja Lv. 5). BP Recovery (Red Mage Lv. 9) and Counter Amp (Swordmaster Lv. 9) makes this faster as well.

Description: Use Utsusemi, followed by attack on all 4 people on the first turn. Then set it to auto-battle, and sooner or later, the dragons will be defeated. You won't take any damage unless you happen to be too slow.

Credit goes to Ovan Kazuto who reminded me that you could use Counter Amp (you do have extra ability slots at that point in the game).

Here's a list of the Dragons and where to find them.

Caldis Region - Northeast of Lontano Villa

Jabberwock: 134998 HP, Dragon, weak to Light.

After beating all 6 bosses, go back to Vampire Castle.

Enter the Castle. Go left. At the far left, go down to find a hidden passage leading to a chest with a Blood Blade. Go right, up, then right again and follow the far right path down to find a chest with a Dragon Fang. Go back to the centre, then go up then left to find a chest with a Safety Ring. Go right to reach the stairs to 2F. Go down, then at the next branch go right, then down to find a chest with a Hermes Shoes. Go back, then continue down and follow the path. At the end, go left, then down to find a chest with a Black Belt. Go to the centre of the room, then go up, then left to get to the stairs to 3F. Go down to find a chest with a Soul of Thamasa. Next, go up, then right, and follow the path down. Go up the stairs at the end to 4F. Follow the path, and at the first branch go up to find a chest with Dwarven Gloves. In the central room, go left and follow the path to a chest with Hyper Bracers. Go back to the centre, then go up, then left to the stairs to 5F. Go right then down to find a chest with Magic Armlets. Go back to the stairs, then go down and follow the path. At the next branch, go up, then right to find a chest with Lamia's Tiara. Go back, then continue right along the path to the stairs to 6F. Go down, then at the end, go right, then up to find a chest with a Megalixir. Go down, then left and follow the path to the stairs to 7F. Follow the path to the end to find a chest with Lilith's Rod. Go to the save point, then go left and talk to Lord DeRosso.

BOSS: Lord DeRosso

Key Stats: 202500 HP, Human, weak to Light.

Strategy: The majority of the attacks are physical. He can use Graviga (which deals 75% max HP damage), and if he has 1 or more BP, Energy Burst. Battle Thirst steals 1 BP but can be evaded. Bone Crush hits all enemies with low HP. He will only use this if enemies have low HP. It is possible to put Lord DeRosso in an endless loop if one party member is at low HP and Utsusemi is used repeatedly to avoid attacks, as Bone Crush will keep getting used. Graviga is the only non physical attack. Alternatively, if he is always above 1 BP due to Hasten World or One More For You, he will always use Energy Burst which can be evaded or tanked by characters with high defense.

Reward: 999 JP, Megalixir

After this battle, you'll be able to change to the Vampire job.

Boss Rematches

Once you've reached Chapter 5, you can rebattle most old bosses. Go to the location where you fought them. Nearly all bosses have a second rematch in Chapter 6 similar to the first, and the ones that don't are part of another sidequest.

BOSS: Barras

Key Stats: 108000 HP, Human. (87750 in rematch 2)

New Strategy: Evasion strategies should be used here to make this fight easier. Invigorate at low HP can knock out the entire party if not covered with Utsusemi.

New Strategy: Nothing has changed much here.

Reward: Turbo Ether

BOSS: Ominas

Key Stats: 108000 HP (114750 in rematch 2), Human.

Key Stats: 108000 HP (114750 in rematch 2), Human, Weak to Lightning. Sky Archers have 9450 HP and are weak to lightning.

Reward: Thief Gloves

BOSS: Chairman Profiteur

Key Stats: 108000 HP (114750 in rematch 2), Human.

New Strategy: Takeover does 2000 damage this time. However, it is a physical attack, so it can be evaded again.

New Strategy: Use Evasion moves to avoid Multiburst.

Reward: Artisan Gloves

BOSS: Mephilia

Key Stats: 81000 HP, Human. The summoned soldiers have 9450 HP.

New Strategy: The Salve-Maker job abilities come in useful for defeating the summoned soldiers. Bring earth resistance from the Swordmaster. Before Swine will counter Girtablulu.

Reward: Turbo Ether

BOSS: Einheria

Key Stats: 108000 HP, Human.

New Strategy: Every attack is physical, so Utsusemi makes this battle very easy. Use Dispel to cancel Spirit Barrier.

Reward: Power Bracers

BOSS: DeRosa

Key Stats: 108000 HP (114750 in rematch 2), Human.

New Strategy: There's not much different here. The main difference is that you can evade physical attacks with Utsusemi and use Reflect to stop magic, but it's not much different.

Reward: Bravo Bikini

BOSS: Praline

Key Stats: 108000 HP (114750 in rematch 2), Human.

Other Enemies: Black Axefighter: 13500 HP, Human, weak to Lightning. Black Blade: 13500 HP, Human, weak to Lightning. The resummoned ones have 9450 HP.

New Strategy: The strategy remains the same as before, except you have evasion moves this time.

Reward: Stardust

BOSS: Qada

Key Stats: 81000 HP (87750 in rematch 2), Human.

New Strategy: Dark Breath can now be evaded through Utsusemi, making this battle easier than before.

Reward: Dragon Fang

BOSS: Barbarossa

Key Stats: 121500 HP (128250 in rematch), Human, weak to Lightning.

New Strategy: Utsusemi and Rampart are useful to stop damage from attacks here. Nothing else has changed much.

Reward: Bacchus's Wine

BOSS: Kikyo

Key Stats: 108000 HP (114750 in rematch 2), Human.

New Strategy: The loop can be exploited with Utsusemi, causing her to miss against a low HP target which keeps using it. Otherwise nothing else has changed. In the second rematch, she will use an attack that always goes first twice in one turn, so bringing someone with high defense helps.

Reward: Kunai

BOSS: Kamiizumi

Key Stats: 108000 HP (114750 in rematch 2), Human.

New Strategy: Evasion and blocking moves can help to block counterattacks. Otherwise, use the same strategy as before.

Reward: Masamune

BOSS: Victoria

Key Stats: 94500 HP (101250 in rematch 2), Human, weak to Light.

New Strategy: The Spiritmaster's Fairy Ward makes Poison completely useless, as well as Corpse. Dark resistance and immunity is helpful.

Reward: Force Armlets

BOSS: Victor

Key Stats: 108000 HP (same in rematch), Human, weak to Dark.

New Strategy: Same as before...

Reward: Amulet

BOSS: Braev the Templar

Key Stats: 151875 HP, Human, weak to Dark.

New Strategy: This time he won't revive after depleting his HP. Otherwise it's mainly the same batte as the previous time, just a bit harder.

Reward: Light Curtain

BOSS: Lord DeRosso

Key Stats: 202500 HP (same in rematch), Human, weak to Light.

New Strategy: Same as last time.

Reward: 999 JP, Megalixir

Sage Yulyana

Go to the Eternian Central Command top floor. (The same room where you fought Braev the Templar). Next, go to Edea's room on 48F. Next you'll battle Alternis (again).

BOSS: Alternis

Key Stats: 135000 HP, Human.

Next, go to Eternia and go to the Central Healing Tower and go to the left side. You'll have to fight Braev the Templar again.

BOSS: Braev the Templar

Key Stats: 162000 HP, Human, weak to Dark.

Next, go to the Twilight Ruins. The next battle is harder, since there are 3 bosses instead of 1.

BOSSES: Artemia, Mephilia and Einheria

Key Stats: Einheria has 114750 HP. Artemia and Mephilia have 81000 HP. Artemia is weak to Fire.

Strategy: One viable solution is to use a tanking Swordmaster with 400+ defense (after boosts). Girtablulu is still a problem, but earth resistance and Before Swine help reduce its damage.

Next, go to Norende Ravine and go to the chasm. Next, you have to fight 6 Kobolds: 2 regular, 1 slasher and 3 archer varieties.

Go back to Yulyana Woods and speak to Yulyana.

BOSS: Yulyana

Key Stats: 202500 HP, Human

Strategy: Meteor does high amounts of non-elemental magic damage to the party, so having party members with high M. Def helps. However, he can use physical attacks such as Amped Strike, so a balance is required here. Skull Bash can help to reduce Meteor's damage, while Utsusemi or Rampart can deal with physical attacks. The major problem is dealing with the stat boosts. Dispel can get rid of them, but make sure you are faster. Alternately, taking off all 9999 MP of Yulyana through attacks such as Amped Strike with Aspir Blade (or Toxic Elixirs) will limit him to using regular attacks, making the battle very straightforward. In addition, the MP drained will cover the cost of Amped Strike until it runs out.

After you beat Yulyana, you'll be able to switch to the Conjurer job.

Special Boss Battles - Chapter 7

Go to the Ruins of Centro Keep.

BOSSES: Ominas & Bahamut

Key Stats: Ominas: 87750 HP, Human. Bahamut: 119623 HP, Dragon, weak to Water.

Strategy: Ominas can cast Fire on Bahamut, healing it. For this reason, take out Ominas first. Bringing fire resistance is necessary for all party members, and one player should have lightning immunity. Bahamut only has single target physical attacks which can be evaded with Utsusemi. Alternatively, use Reflect to stop the spells. Bahamut is not immune to instant death, so bring a special move or Death from the black mage. Once you defeat Ominas, the battle is over...

BOSSES: Ominas, Heinkel and Barras

Key Stats: Ominas: 121500 HP, Human. Heinkel: 94500 HP. Barras: 94500 HP

Strategy: The main problem here is that Heinkel will protect others from single target physical attacks. Omias is the biffest problem at the start, so use magic. Next, get rid of Heinkel. Lastly, get rid of Barras before he uses Invigorate at low HP.

Go to Florem Gardens.

BOSSES: Victoria, Kikyo and Artemia

Key Stats: Victoria: 114750 HP. Kikyo: 94500 HP. Artemia: 101250 HP

Strategy: Bring dark resistance/immunity and someone with high P. Def. It is a good idea to knock out Victoria first so you don't have to deal with Poison and Corpse. Next, get rid of Artemia. Finally, get rid of Kikyo.

Go to Eisen Bridge.

BOSS: Praline

Key Stats: 121500 HP

Strategy: Using a Swordmaster tank works well here, as all the attacks are single target physical attacks. Once you beat Praline, the battle ends. (To be continued...)

Reinforcements: The Jackal (134998 HP)

Go to Ancheim Palace.

BOSSES: Praline, The Jackal, Khamer

Key Stats: The Jackal: 101250 HP. Khamer and Praline: 94500 HP.

Strategy: Using a Swordmaster tank works well here, however you'll need a way to reduce earth damage or heal due to Quara. Stop can also be problematic.

 Go to Eternia.

BOSSES: Holly, Einheria, Khint

Key Stats: Khint: 101250 HP. Holly: 87750 HP. Einheria: 94500 HP.

Strategy: A physical tank can easily take damage from Khint and Einheria. Holly can't deal too much damage with Aero, so as long as you bring some healing you should be fine.

Go to Eternian Central Command and go to the top floor.

BOSSES: Braev the Templar, Alternis and Kamiizumi

Key Stats: Braev the Templar: 94500 HP. Alternis: 121500 HP. Kamizumii: 87750 HP

Strategy: Bring dark resistance/immunity to reduce damage from Black Bane. Highly defensive builds work here, as the only attacks are physical. Kamiizumi comes in midway through the battle. Because Alternis has Minus Strike, which deals 9999 damage at low HP, defeat the others first, then use evasion moves against him.

Go to the bottom floor of the dungeon in Eternian Central Command.

BOSSES: DeRosa, Qada, Chairman Profiteur

Key Stats: DeRosa: 101250 HP. Qada: 87750 HP. Chairman Profiteur: 94500 HP

Strategy: Bring lightning resistance to reduce damage from Thundara. Beat DeRosa and Chairman Profiteur first so you don't have to deal with Qada's Dark Breath along with other attacks. A balanced team with a healer, physical tank and two other damage dealers works well. Be aware that Takeover, Poison Hi-Potion and Dark Breath ignore defense, so your tank needs high HP.

Go to Vampire Castle and go to the top floor.

BOSSES: Victor & Lord DeRosso

Key Stats: DeRosso: 134998 HP. Victor: 108000 HP.

Strategy: One person in your party needs immunity to light. Have someone in your party redirect all attacks to them using Kairai, as it nullifies damage from Holy. Take out Lord DeRosso first as he is more powerful.

Go to Yulyana Woods and talk to the Sage.

BOSSES: Barbarossa, Mephilia, Yulyana

Key Stats: Barbarossa: 101250 HP. Mephilia: 87750 HP. Yulyana: 94500 HP

Strategy: Mephilia now has a Summon called Susano-o which does non elemental magic damage. Defeat Yulyana first so that you don't have to worry about Meteor. Next, target Mephilia. Finally, use evasion moves or a character with high physical defense to reduce damage from Barbarossa. If you find yourself taking too much damage, the Pirate's abilities Defang (on Bararossa) and Skull Bash (on Yulyana and Mephilia) can reduce damage significantly
