Can the 3DS interact with the DSlite?

Me and my bro both have DS lite and i want to upgrade. but i got pokemon white and most of the gen 4 games an i want 2 know if transfer will still work.

Yes it will, 3DS has full DS backwards compatibility (except 3 DSi games, I believe - and transfer from GBA games / Rumble pack since it doesn't have a GBA slot).

It even has Download Play, and gives you a choice between 3DS or DS download play.

I waited to get pokemon black until I had the 3DS, so I could transfer all my DS-lite gen4 pokemon on there.

Yes. The 3DS download play is compatible with all DS types.
