1.0 Intro
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==============================================================================

Hello everybody, I am destroy_ad_12, obviously, and this is my first FAQ for
an awesome new game I got, the first 3D game I got, Pilotwings Resort! The
series is back after so many years with another epic adventure over land, sea,
and a lot of other stuff! This time you are brought to a familiar island, the
one called Wuhu Island! This was originally introduced in Wii Sports, but you
could fully explore it in Wii Sports Resort, and it returned in Wii Fit, and
now it is back again for the greatest adventure yet, this time in 3D!
Pilotwings Resort brings three classic vehicles to Wuhu Islnad, the plane,
the Rocket Belt, and the Hang Glider! These vehicles also have upgrades that
you unlock through playing the mission that they are in. The plane goes to
the Turbo Jet, the Rocket Belt goes to the Super Rocket Belt, and the Hang
Glider goes to the Pedal Glider. Unlike the previous game, there is only one
island to explore, instead of 4. But Wuhu Island is packed with fun,
adventures, challenges, and a little easter egg! So get in your plane, strap
on your Rocket Belt, and get on your Hang Glider and get out to Wuhu Island
for one of the most fun flight games out there!

Note: This guide is not complete yet, it is just up for purposes of actually
getting it up there. It will be worked on more soon!

4.0 Mission Flight Mode
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==============================================================================

The missions of Pilotwings Resort are the heart of the game. Missions unlock
more fun for you, and give you a challenge. There are over 40 missions in the
game, some are really hard, some are tricky to get a good score, and others
are just plain simple. When you unlock the Silver Class, you unlock balloons
in Free Flight Mode, which I'll explain later, and when you unlock the Gold
Class you get Diorama Mode and Extras appear in Free Flight Mode for you to
collect. Diamond Class is unlocked when you get 3 stars in every mission. Now,
to the missions! Oh wait, first I should show you how this works.

Example:
-------------------------
Plane 1: Ring Run-Through - Name of the vehicle and the mission
-------------------------

Difficulty: 1\5 - How hard it is out of 5
Description: Fly the Plane through a consecutive series of rings. - The ingame
description
Start Location: In the ocean west of the beach. - Where you start
End Location: Over Duckling Lake. - Where you end
Objective: Fly through 11 rings in order to finish. - What you have to do
Tips: Use your speed boost as much as possible until the turn, and then use it
again before the end. - My personal tips to make it easier
Scoring: Perfect Time: 0:45; 100 pts for 3 stars, 75 pts for 2 stars, 55 pts
for 1 star - How they score your performance

NOW to the missions!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These missions are for you to learn the basics of flying with the three
vehicles. As you notice there are two missions to each vehicle. It will be
like that until the Silver Class, when there are three per vehicle. These
missions will give you practice on flying and landing each vehicle. You will
need those skills for almost every mission.

5.0 Free Flight Mode
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==============================================================================

Free Flight Mode is a special mode in which you can free roam Wuhu Island for
a certain amount of time. You can use the plane, Rocket Belt, and Glider to
fly freely, and the Turbo Jet, Super Rocket Belt, and Pedal Glider once
unlocked. Once you get to certain classes, new extras become available to you
and for you to find. These will unlock special things in the game. The first
extra from the start is the I rings. I will explain these in the next section.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5.1 I Rings
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The I Rings are special extras from the start that unlock something. There is
a total of 76, although you can only register 75. If you get 30 rings, you

I have a list and a relative location for each of these. For more info, check

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5.2 Balloons
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Balloons are unlocked when you unlock the Silver Class. These are special that
you can earn extra flight time. There are 120 balloons total and 40 to pop
with each vehicle. The ones that you pop already will be a different color on
proceeding flights and then can be popped with any vehicle. White balloons are
ones that haven't been popped yet by that vehicle, and the transperant
balloons are ones that can only be popped with a different vehicle. As I said
before, you gain extra flight time and more fuel when you pop a certain number
of balloons. Here are the times:

20 balloons popped = 2:30 maximum flight time
40 balloons popped = 3:00 maximum flight time, extra Rocket Belt fuel
60 balloons popped = 3:30 maximum flight time
80 balloons popped = 4:00 maximum flight time, extra Rocket Belt fuel
100 balloons popped = 4:30 maximum flight time
120 balloons popped = 5:00 maximum flight time, extra Rocket Belt fuel

As you can see, 20 balloons equals +30 seconds to your flight time. Once you
pop all of the balloons, you get a flight time equal to that in Wii Sports
Resort. If you're searching for the balloons, it may take a while, like it did
for me. Good luck!... Oh, wait, I forgot something, also, for 40 balloons you
pop, you get an extra Rocket Belt refuel. That means if you run out of fuel,
one of the little icons on the bottom next to your fuel guage will disappear
and you will get maximum fuel. If you pop all 120 balloons, you get 3 refills.
Personally, with the 3 refills, I have never run out. Now good luck!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5.3 Stunt Rings
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stunt Rings are unlocked when you unlock the Gold Class, and can only be used
by the plane. These are special red rings littered through Wuhu Island and
Wedge Island. There are 60 total and are used to unlock dioramas. For every 20
you find, you unlock a new diorama. But these rings are unique, you don't just
fly through them, you fly through them with style! Each ring has a picture of
your Mii's face at a different position. If it is sideways pointing left, bank
left by holding the L button. If it is sideways pointing right, bank right by
holding the R button. If it is upside-down, hold L and R to invert and fly
upside-down. If it is spinning clock-wise, double-tap the R button. If it is
spinning counter clock-wise, double-tap the L button. They can be hidden in
some tough to get places, so good luck! Oh, and the red ones are ones that you
haven't flown through before, and the gray ones are ones that you have flown
through before.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5.4 Mii Trophies
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mii Trophies are unlocked when you unlock the Gold Class, and can only be used
by the Rocket Belt. These are little red presents with little suprises in
them, trophies! And not just any trophies, trophies of your Miis! 60 red boxes
are scattered around Wuhu Island and Wedge Island, waiting to be discovered.
These can only be found with the Rocket Belt, and can be tough to find, but
here's a hint, they can only be found on land. For every 20 you find, you
unlock a new diorama. Some are in tight places, like in between trees and
between buildings in town. Red boxes are new and gray ones are ones that you
flew through before. Good luck!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5.5 Gold Rings
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gold Rings are unlocked when you unlock the Gold Class, and can only be used
by the Glider. These are shiny, yet dangerous, gold rings found throughout the
Wuhu and Wedge Islands. They are dangerous because if you hit the sides, you
crash, so you have to be careful how you go through them. For every 20 you
find, you get a new diorama. 60 rings total are around the islands, and they
are everywhere. Land, sea, sky, you name it. Since the Glider is the hardest
vehicle to fly, and the gold rings are one of the hardest things to get, this
posses a real challenge. The gold rings will turn gray when already obtained.
Good luck!

6.0 Extras
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==============================================================================

Extras can mean a lot of things. In this FAQ, it means stuff I couldn't put
anywhere else. This section will include all and how to unlock all the
dioramas, taking a look at the layout of the famous Wuhu Island, that special
easter egg I told you about earlier, and other unlockables, all in one place.
So, first up are the dioramas!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6.1 Dioramas
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dioramas are unlocked after you unlock the Gold Class. These are little

Some are incomplete because I didn't unlock them yet. I will get them as soon
as possible!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6.2 Look at Wuhu Island
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You've heard about places on this island all throughout the FAQ, but you some
of you don't have one clue of what I'm talking about. Here, I will describe
with the best of my ability what this place looks like.

I'll first start in the town. It is a fairly small town on the coast of Wuhu
Island with all of these games to play (in Wii Sports Resort). There is a
Bowling Alley, a Swordplay Coliseum, and, well, those are the only games. But
there is a Wishing Fountain in the middle, a Broken Clock Tower next to it, a
large luxury cruise ship called the Queen Peach docked in the harbor, a harbor
called the Starboard Harbor, and the Runner's Circle where runners from
everywhere meet.

Next I am going my the harbor to a road that extends from the east part of
town. You'll go across a large red bridge called the Red Iron Bridge. The
road is called Palm Boulevard, for its vast abundance of palm trees. Down
the road is a hotel called the Cacoba Hotel, with a Pool, a Ping-Pong table
and tennis courts. Behind that is a large beach that extends into the ocean,
and is called different things at its different points. The closest point is
called Sugarsand Beach, then farther out is a rock with two humps called Camel
Rock, then there is a bit of grass and Starry Beach, then a large island on
the land where they launch fireworks at night called the Firework Launch Zone.
Over this launch zone is the starting place of Miguel's Guide Plane. Follow
him and he will fly you around Wuhu Island, and he comes with an I Ring. A
bit of beach is behing that called the Sweet Beach. A little bit into the
ocean is another Firework Launch Zone, so fly at night to see the fireworks!

Further down Palm Boulevard is a tunnel called the Island Loop Tunnel. There
are two of these, one further on. Once you get through the tunnel, the road
is like it is in a canyon. Above you are the Silk Sands, and sandy place at
the exit of a cave. Further on and still above you is the Dead-end Point. At
about the same spot, or closer to the Silk Sands is the Boost Gate. Go through
here to get shot up the mountain side! Further on and to the right is the
Mysterious Ruins, a place of mystery and ruin. Over the cliff at the edge of
the ruins is a cave entrance called the Serpent's Mouth, which leads you into
the Sea Serpent Cave. Further down you will see the Needlepoint Spire. It is
right at the exit of the Sea Serpent Cavern. A little further down the road
you will be on a narrow road and to your left you will see the Cabana Lagoon.

Keep going and you will make it to the other Island Loop Tunnel. Through that
it will get a bit more industrial. A wind farm is on your left and a little
further back is a long rock called Talon Rock, one of the four Wuhu monuments,
the Forest Monument, and a large forest. Further down the road is the Candle,
a lighthouse mistakenly built twice the planned size. Going down more is the
Sundown Point, and then you make it back to the town.

Now to more "non-seen" roads. On Palm Boulevard, if you take a left, you will
go up a steep hill called Heartbreak Peak. Once you are up, to your right is
a large cave called the Lava Tube, which leads to the Silk Sands. Further down
is the Hilltop overlook. If you keep following the road you will reach the
Swaying Bridge, a narrow bridge over a river. This bridge will lead you to the
forest. Below the bridge is a river, which leads to a Footbridge, then a lake
with a waterfall called Summerstone Falls coming down the cliff above. Behind
the waterfall is a cave called the Heart of Maka Wuhu, right under the volcano,
which leads in two different directions when you get to the middle.
They lead to the Dead-end Point and somewhere else. When you go up the
waterfall, you will reach a river that leads to Summerstone Castle, a large
castle next to Duckling Lake. There is a path behind the castle that leads you
through Cedar-Tree Tunnel, and up what I like to call the mountain path. You
will first go past the Off-Road Vehicle, then up to the Lone Cedar. On the
mountainside is a tunnel that leads into Maka Wuhu, the volcano. In there is
another of the Wuhu monuments, the Lava Monument. Fly up the tube and you will
get another I Ring, the Magma Chamber. Anyway, if you keep following the
mountain path, you will reach the Mountain Monument, then keep going and you
will reach the castle again. If you go on the other side of the path, which
goes around the lake, you will follow a path that leads into the Heart of Maka
Wuhu.

Now for the small islands. First, the arch in the ocean near the Mysterious
Ruins is called Barnacle Arch, then farther out is the Private Island, the
larger of the two. Once you get all 75 I Rings, you will get a private castle
on that island. Next to it is the Deserted Island. Out in the top-right spot
on the Wuhu Island map are three rocks. The left one is another arch called
the Gateway to Wuhu. The others are just rocks. Out in the ocean near those
rocks is the Mystery Zone. If you're having trouble finding it, it is where
the alien mothership is in the mission Lost Little UFOs. Also, you are near it
where you start your flight with the plane at night.

Finally, the large island far away from the mainland, Wedge Island. Here I am
starting at the dock, called the Wedge Island Marina. Farther inland and
following the road is the Nineteenth Hole Hotel. Near it is a large rock
called Crab Rock. Now to the golf courses. The island in the back near the
landing pad is Golf Area B. Near where you first fly in is a small lake that
is Golf Area A. Another area is on the opposite side of the island of the
Marina, that is Golf Area C. The Landing Pad is in the back for you to
practice landing with the Rocket Belt and the Glider. Finally, (nearly done
with this section! :D!) the special easter egg that I will explain in the next
section walks around Wedge Island in a circle, and is hard not to notice.

6.3 The Easter Egg
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I have mentioned many times before, a special easter egg appears under
certain conditions and walks around Wedge Island and is fairly large. Many of
you know who, or what, it is, many don't. When I first found out about it, I
went straight to Google Images. I was WRONG! Google Images didn't have
anything related to what I was trying to find out. I finally found it on
Youtube, but I still wasn't convinced it was actually there. So I fulfilled
the requirements and what do you know! It was real! So I'm here to share that
secret with all of you. To find it, you need to get three stars in every
mission, including the Diamond Class. To do this, you need to be an expert
pilot with every vehicle. You need to be an expert in flying and actually
paying attention to where you are flying. The secret easter egg is!... (drum
roll) ...going to be announced after these messages. Nah, just kidding, the
secret easter egg giant Wedge Island obsessed mystery guest is...

Meca Hawk!

That's right, he's back and more 3D than ever! Though this time he is not so
bent on destruction, he is now just a lonely 50 foot robot (with a mustache)
with nowhere to go. He does have an I Ring, but it doesn't count towards your
total. Anyway, a little background on Meca Hawk. He was a boss in the original
Pilotwings 64. I don't know how or why he was built, mostly because I haven't
played the original. But I do know that there was a guy in Pilotwings 64 that
was named Hawk. Anyway, look elsewhere for more info.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
