    INTRODUCTION
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1a. SERIES HISTORY

Everyone knows this series by heart, but for those in the dark, we take you to
    the beginning.

The story begins about 1000 years in the past on the Earth’s moon. The Silver
Millennium was a kingdom of peace ruled by Queen Serenity. She ruled the
kingdom with an open heart alongside her daughter Princess Serenity and an
    Earth Prince named Endymion.

Alongside Princess Serenity is her royal court of princesses from other
planets. Suddenly, the peace was shattered when the Dark Kingdom led by Queen
Beryl invaded the moon in order to claim the Silver Crystal and rule the
universe. Queen Serenity used all of her might and the power of the Silver
Crystal to drive back the Dark Kingdom.

In the end, Queen Serenity faded away. With the last of her strength, she sends
her followers to a future on Earth. 1000 years has passed and the Moon Princess
is reborn as a clumsy ditzy teenage girl named Usagi Tsukino. With help from
her cat guardian Luna, Usagi transforms into the sailor-suited superhero Sailor
    Moon!

    1b. ARCADE STORYLINE

The Sailor Moon arcade game is almost basically a battle with enemies and
bosses from Season 1. The game is similar to scrolling beat-‘em-ups like Final
Fight or Double Dragon, but mostly Final Fight with added twists.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    GAME CONTROLS
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You have a basic arcade layout for most fighting games. You got a Joystick and
three buttons: Attack, Jump and Super.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    GAME ELEMENTS
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you play the game you’ll run into helpful items along the way. You’ll also
run into your generic gangs of bad guys. Some fighting games like Final Fight
have regenerative enemies during boss stages. This will be outlined in the
Walkthrough later. Look for special power-up items along the way.

    3a. ITEMS
Peppermint Candy: Fills your health by 10%
Bracelet: Fills your health by 13%
Canned Food: Fills your health by 15%
Ice Cream: Fills your health by 20%
Muffin: Fills your health by 33%
Cake: Fills your health by 40%
Donuts: Fills your health by 50%
    	Rose: Restores full health
Crystal: Power-up item used for elemental attacks

When you retrieve a Crystal, you’ll gain a Level of power. A Sailor Senshi can
collect as many as 5. For a Sailor Senshi to unleash her Special Attack, she
must use all 5 Crystals to unleash it on all the enemies and a few bosses, too.

    3b. ENEMIES

The enemies are from Season 1, but there is one that is not from the series
itself, just a basic enemy. Each throwaway enemy will be listed by their
original and English names. The bosses will be listed as well in the
    Walkthrough section.

    FROU
Frou is a yoma girl in a toga. She appeared during the time Jadeite took
over FM10, a local radio station.

    TESUNI (TENSY)
Tesuni is a large yoma girl who uses a powerful racquet and tennis ball
bombs. She appeared after Nephrite possessed a young tennis girl.

    YASHA
Like the legendary Japanese monster itself, Yasha is a female yoma
wearing an oni mask, a standard haori (jacket) and hakama (trousers). She was
ordered to spy on Nephrite in case he found the Silver Crystal.

    TITUS
Titus is a yoma woman with a faceless mask and an almost liquidy body.
She appeared when Jadeite took over a couples-only cruise ship.

    ONIWABANDANA (NINJANA)
Oniwabandana is a yoma kunoichi (ninja girl) who uses all the weapons and
skills of a ninja. She was hired by Kunzite to defeat Sailor Moon and take her
    Silver Crystal and her life.

    CONTROLLED HUMAN
This is a normal man who wears a trench coat, pants and a wool cap. This
enemy is only found in one stage throughout the game.

    JUMO
Jumo is a yoma girl whose body is composed of a mannequin. The mannequin
parts can also be detached and reconnect at will so long as Jumo is alive. She
appeared after Nephrite possessed a young dollmaker girl whose best friends
    with Usagi’s young brother Shingo.

    MURIDO (DREAM DOLLY)
Murido is a yoma doll dresses as a little girl and is completely
mechanical. She was part of a scheme when Jadeite took over the DreamLand
    amusement park.

    GEMINI CLONE
For more information, check Kastor and Pollux in the Bosses section of
    the Walkthrough.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    EASTER EGGS/GLITCHES
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These two glitches are found in most scrolling fighter games. Final Fight has
some of these glitches and so does this game.

    HIT AND PIVOT
In the middle of a combo, you can avoid attacking a third time by turning away
and using your combo again. The term is also called “turn-canceling” as quoted
by Bryce Griffith (Youkai Kouga). Look for this strategy in the Walkthrough.

    OFF-SCREEN IMMUNITY
Some enemies go halfway off-screen and don’t take damage no matter what attacks
you use. Only enemies fully on-screen can take damage from any attacks used.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    WALKTHROUGH

    6a. AREAS

    LEVEL 1: AZABU JUBAN
ENEMIES INTRODUCED: FROU, TESUNI, YASHA, TITUS

Heading further downtown, more enemies surprise you as you make your way

After Stage 2 is complete, an intermission screen shows Queen Beryl’s claw-like
hands waving over a crystal ball as Jadeite stands. Quite possibly, the scene
represents Queen Beryl’s displeasure in having Jadeite fail her missions.

    LEVEL 3: BACK ALLEY/DUMP/TOKYO TOWER
    ENEMIES INTRODUCED: GEMINI CLONE

    LEVEL 4: ACADEMY

The academy Ami goes to after school is under attack by a yoma and you must
stop her from stealing energy. The source of the evil energy is located at the
    end inside the computer room.

    LEVEL 5: YOKOHAMA BAY
    ENEMIES INTRODUCED: CONTROLLED HUMAN

A seaside port is under control of the Dark Kingdom. Workers from a nearby
warehouse are under the spell and attack you. You must fight your way into the
warehouse and try to break the spell.

LEVEL 6: SANJOUIN MANOR (STANTON MANSION)
    ENEMIES INTRODUCED: MURIDO

The manor house of Masato Sanjouin (Maxfield Stanton) A.K.A. Nephrite (Neflite)
is on the other end of a forest where enemies await your arrival.

    LEVEL 7: DOWNTOWN/CROWN GAME CENTER/SUPERMARKET
Bakene, a wild cat yoma, is on a rampage throughout town! You must stop this
beast before he does any more damage to the town and its people.

    LEVEL 8: NORTH POLE/DARK KINGDOM
This is it, the final showdown! Here at the North Pole, the portal to the Dark
Kingdom is wide open awaiting the invasion of Earth. This is the last stand for
the Sailor Senshi and must succeed in driving the evil away! Go Sailor Team!

    6b. BOSSES

Here are the bosses of the entire game. Note below you see:
HIT AND PIVOT __, REGEN GANG __, TUXEDO KAMEN __.
An “OK” means it’s in effect and an “NG” means it’s not there.

BOSS 1: KASTOR & POLLUX (The Gemini Warriors)
HIT AND PIVOT OK, REGEN GANG OK, TUXEDO KAMEN NG
Kastor and Pollux are twin yoma girls with long tails. Nephrite created
them after he possessed an artist working on an anime. Kastor and Pollux
utilize both Sailor Mars and Sailor Mercury’s Special Attacks against the
Sailor Senshi. In Stage 3, a clone of Kastor and Pollux reappears as a generic
    yoma.

    BOSS 2: MORGA
HIT AND PIVOT OK, REGEN GANG OK, TUXEDO KAMEN OK
Morga is a yoma who kidnapped the owner of OSA-P Jewelry and took her
place. Naru Osaka, Usagi’s best friend, is the daughter of the jewelry store
owner. As you approach Morga, she drops Naru and attacks you. When things get
too rough, Tuxedo Mask evens the odds only temporarily.

    BOSS 3: KYULENE
HIT AND PIVOT OK, REGEN GANG NG, TUXEDO KAMEN NG
Kyulene is a female yoma that resembles a gargoyle. She can fly with the
wings on her back and attack. When her power level is halfway down, she leaves
the junkyard and heads directly for Tokyo Tower where the battle continues.

    BOSS 4: GAROBEN
HIT AND PIVOT OK, REGEN GANG NG, TUXEDO KAMEN OK
Garoben is a large lanky female demon who was in charge of draining life
energy from people at the computers. As you arrive in the computer room,
Garoben drops her hostage, Gurio Umino, another of Usagi’s friends and
boyfriend to Naru. Beware of Garoben’s vicious assault. Tuxedo Mask will help
you a little but you’re on your own after that.

    BOSS 5: ZOISITE (Zoycite)*
HIT AND PIVOT NG, REGEN GANG NG, TUXEDO KAMEN NG
Zoisite is one of Queen Beryl’s Four Generals. He’s very vain and hates
to do most of the dirty work himself. Here, he controls the dock workers. Only
by defeating him will the spell be broken, but he’s fast and can teleport.
Watch his movements and be on guard. You’re on your own in this fight.

*Zoisite was originally a man. In the North American version, Zoisite was made
    a girl.

    BOSS 6: TWIN KYULENE
HIT AND PIVOT OK, REGEN GANG NG, TUXEDO KAMEN NG
As if Kyulene herself wasn’t bad enough, she becomes cloned and both of
them pick up where the original left off. Luckily there are no enemies to
assist the twin yoma in this battle. Plus, there’s nowhere to fly inside the
    mansion.

    BOSS 7: BAKENE
HIT AND PIVOT OK, REGEN GANG NG, TUXEDO KAMEN NG
Bakene was one of the legendary Seven Devils who took the form of a fat
blue cat. Once awakened, Bakene begins his rampage. His intelligence is
basically primal and his instincts are like those of wild animals. To return
Bakene back to his normal state, you must defeat him which won’t be easy.

BOSS 8: ZOISITE & KUNZITE (Zoycite & Malachite)
HIT AND PIVOT NG, REGEN GANG NG, TUXEDO KAMEN NG (ZOISITE)
HIT AND PIVOT OK, REGEN GANG NG, TUXEDO KAMEN NG (KUNZITE)
Kunzite is the leader of the Four Generals and is Zoisite’s lover and
mentor. The two make a powerful tag team against the Sailor Senshi. To beat
both of the Generals, attack one, then go for the other.

    FINAL BOSS: QUEEN BERYL
HIT AND PIVOT OK, REGEN GANG NG, TUXEDO KAMEN NG
The final showdown takes place inside Beryl’s inner sanctum as she
    begins
to battle. Naturally, she’s the strongest of all the enemies put together and
has some powerful attacks as well. Only by using the best strategy can you
destroy Queen Beryl and rid the world of the Dark Kingdom!
