Donkey Kong

"Mario vs. Donkey Kong. Who would win? (Updated 7/2 2010)"
Remember when Nintendo first released this game into the arcades? It was an instant hit! And several companies saw the huge success of this game. And now, ports are seen on nearly every console to date, but this is an okay port when it was first released. But today, it is not that bad at all. I liked this port of Donkey Kong in my younger years, but when I grew older, I started spotting the one thing that was bugging me for years to come. But more on that later.
The Story is that you have to rescue Pauline from Donkey Kong in multiple levels.
The graphics for the time were okay for an Atari 2600 game. They were good enough so that I can tell between Mario and Donkey Kong. At least the levels looked a little good.
The sound's not that bad. Moving is okay, but it's the only sounds you will ever hear in this game. It can get irritating after a while. And that's when I muted my TV every time I played this game. Overall, the sound isn't very good.
The controls are okay for an Atari 2600 game. Occasionally, it wouldn't read my jumps correctly. Another thing is that they are mapped somewhat correctly. I can see that it made the controls that enjoyable at best. And it's hard to pass a level with these types of controls. Overall, the controls are okay.
Your goal is to reach the end of the level while avoiding Donkey Kong's barrels and stuff. Whew. That's all I had to say about it. The gameplay's so little all I can review for this game is the level designs.
The levels are bad. They feel the same and there is only two designs in the entire game! And none of them are interesting or fun to play.
If you can tolerate playing these levels, you would finish the game in under 10 minutes! And the fact that there's nothing special about the game will discourage you to play this game again.
This game has okay graphics, okay controls and very boring gameplay. If you're an Atari fan (and only ones who still own an Atari 2600), you will enjoy this game on a rainy day. If you have never heard of Donkey Kong before, I wouldn't suggest getting this game at all. Everybody else, please rent this game.
