"Great Action Adventure/Maze Game!"

Well, this game is my favorite Atari 2600 action game, the game was more or less a hybrid of a maze game and an action adventure game. Good combination for this system. Superman being the all time greatest super hero ever also carries the game past it's sluggish game play since you can fly. Superman for Atari is a game that made me expect more from the NES title which didn't deliver at all. The game features a handful of missions for Superman, one of them being to rebuild a bridge, one if to rescue Louis Lane, and another being to capture the evil Lex Luthor & his goons. The game scrolls side to side much like Pitfall with the option to scroll up aswell with your ability to fly. It keeps the game long, because it takes awhile to move from screen to screen unless you are flying in which case you move much faster. Sound is very Atari-esque with sounds found in a lot of their games. Superman's finish is pretty disappointing, it took myself over an hour to beat from beginning to end but when I beat it there was no flashing "Congratulations" or a picture of Superman flying through outerspace or such. Nothing happens when you beat the game, you beat it and if I recall correctly you change back into Clark Kent and then the game is over, then the screens start rotating from location to location. Like it will flash to the jail, then the bridge, then the telephone booth. But for the Atari 2600, this is one of the better action games I played. I enjoyed it for what it was, just an old fashioned action game.
