"Yar Matey, Ye Be A Mighty Metal Fly, ARGHH!"

Yar's revenge is a bit of a strange game. You are a metal fly who must shoot and chew away the barrior around an enemy base while dodging a missle. Occasionally the base turns into a swirling projectile and guns for your metal bug. A safety zone will protect you from the missle but not the swirling projectile. The game gets progressively harder but never ends, as it is a score based game.
It is never clearly stated what Yar is exactly avenging revenge upon. That's OK, this is Atari, there is not enough memory for games to have plots! This is an extremely addicting game! The challenge gradually gets harder as the floating missle gets quicker as does the swirling projectile. Eventually you lose your safty barrier and have to keep moving to survive! Some of the barriers guarding the base start to move, which can be trouble for your little fly! Often you will be gnawing away at the barrior only to have your violent chewing bounce your right back into the missle! Doh!
In the vein of Asteroids and Space Invaders, this is a score based game that is addictingly fun! Yar!

Graphics=7.0 You have the one screen, with your silver fly and enemy base. The colorful band of protection utilizes every piece of color the Atari had ( do you guys remember the Atari had a switch for color or black and white TV's??) Not too bad!

Sound=6.0 A constant buzzing surprisingly does not drive you insane. The swirling projectile gives a warning sound then a launch WHOOP! The normal fare of Atari sounds.

Playcontrol=8.2 A fun and responsive game. You can even move diagonally ( a cool thing in Atari games!) You can spit bullets and bite weapons. When you bite enough of the enemy barrier away (or tough the base) you earn a missle of your own which you can launch to destroy the base and move on to the next level.

Challenge=8.0 It gets harder as the game goes on till you can't play no more!!

Overall=8.3 A very fun and addicting high point game. A great addition to your Atari library!!
