*REJECTED* Message Board Achievements

I wouldn't mind a little 1, 5, or 10 year badge for the anniversary of the account on the actual day of the anniversary.

Conditional 3: Only if every single achievement is related towards board hunting >_>

Remember back when the Karma system came out for the very first time and it was suggested that marking messages would get Karma? And then anything even the slightest, remotest bit questionable got flagged immediately by Karma hunters? And the system lasted all of three days before it got switched?

Yeah, I don't want that coming back either. Achievements would just encourage people to act stupidly or game the system to meet the 'target'.

1 out of 5

Seems to be very unlikely to promote sane postings among users, when people will spam 500 topics like nobody's business. It's good enough that we get Karma to show rankings, but it shouldn't turn this site into a video game itself.

Achievements could and probably would be used as a trolling device where posts are dismissed because of implied 'farming'. It's very difficult to implement an effective incentive system that promotes good posting etiquette rather than discouraging the opposite, especially in this environment, where the achievements would need to be very innovative to interest the kind of user that won't be posting just for the sake of getting them all. After all, it's only a message board... How original or unpredictable could the achievements themselves realistically be?
Many a man fails as an original thinker simply because his memory is too good.

2: Do Not Care - I have no love for this idea, but no real hate either

As mentioned above, the spam for achievements will be a pain.
