What is with the damn pop up that keeps wanting me to download something?!

For some reason I keep getting a prompt asking me to download m.js (642 Bytes) from a website called secure-us.imrworldwide.com

Obviously I never ever download anything that I don't intentionally click on to download. This, it's just a random pop up while on the message boards. I'm not doing anything and it will randomly pop up asking me to download it. Happens regardless if I'm click something or just reading a topic. I've been getting it several times a day for the past several weeks (months?) now.

A bit of searching makes it sound like it's a tracking cookie, but I'm not sure why it's prompting a download. I wouldn't trust it, as it's a Javascript file and who knows what that will do. I'd download and run this: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

I have downloaded it and opened the file just to see what it would do (yay for work computers). It seems like it has something to do with one of the ads that the site has on it. I'm going to do a bit more research to see if I can narrow down specifically which ad(s) it is. I personally don't think it's right that the site should be asking someone to download additional javascript files from third-party sites.

If it's ad related, I'd recommend filling this feedback ticket out the next time you see it:

Mods aren't involved with anything related to the ads and I have no idea what CBSi's advertising guidelines are, but it's worth bringing it to the admin's attention.

Well that's not good. =/ I haven't run into anything like that myself, but then running AdBlock Plus and Ghostery I'd be more than a little perturbed if I did.

It seems to be an issue with the Mountain Dew/Doritos ad. I just submitted a feedback ticket, so hopefully something will be taken care of shortly.

nice to hear. Frankly the ads have become a nuisance. The video ones while playing lags text while typing and it taunts me as I try to click forums it will load and the screen will jump an inch and I'll end up clicking something else for the top banner.
