176, no difference between chocobos. When you breed the gold chocobo from a black and wonderful, there's an extra speed boost mechanic, if the parent's fail to meet an average speed, which they usually will, the offspring gets bumped up to within a certain range, resulting in almost everybody's first gold chocobo being at that 147-150 speed.

wait....you mean if the black and wonderful have a high enough speed average the gold will have a max speed of 176? just what average is needed....or is a 176 average needed?

What I meant was that if you haven't done anything incredibly special you'll get a gold chocobo at the same speed as everybody else so there's no 'good' or 'bad' outcome to the standard breeding procedure.
But yes, if the parents are fast, the offspring will probably also be fast, standard breeding mechanics. Each nut has multiple outcomes; Zeio Nut, for example, has a 55/256 chance of the offspring's max dash being 10% higher than that of the fastest parent, otherwise it's just set to the average of the parent's.
Be warned, there's a lot more to a chocobo than the the speed and stamina stats shown at the races. Most importantly, the race displays the speed while dashing, there's a separate stat for running speed. There's no way to see the full stats, so attempting to breed a perfect chocobo is largely worthless.

well mostly i just want to breed one capable of beating that black chocobo that appears in s rank with the 1200+ stamina...

His stats are based on your stats, so breeding a better chocobo isn't going to help.
