Thief Gold is still my personal favorite. This one is still a close second.

Ha ha, I feel the same way about Thief Gold. Very close second.

I wouldn't call this my favorite game but it's certainly a damn good one. Thief Gold... It's good too but I much prefer this one, the first Thief had too many monster missions.

This game is easily in my top 10. So immersive... so atmospheric. The level design is divine. I beat about half the game ghosting, and did only non-lethal KOs to everyone later on. One design choice I disagree with is how enemies gain more health when they're alerted to your presence... kinda unrealistic. Still, I suppose if you're playing properly, you'd never have to worry about that in the first place, n'est-ce pas? :)

my top 5 favorite missions:

Life of the Party
Blackmailing a certain someone in his own mansion
Bank
Police Station
first mission with Basso

but my favorite 5 minutes of gameplay is in the Docks mission where you swim into the ocean and sneak aboard the pirate ship

Life of the Party and the Bank missions are my top two. From there, I'm not sure. I need to play again and rank them.

my top 5 in this one are (in no real order):

1. Shipping and Receiving
2. Life of the Party
3. Eavesdropping
4. Blackmail
5. and the bank

my top 5 in Thief Gold are (again in no real order):

1. Return to the Cathedral
2. Thieves' Guild
3. Songs of the caverns
4. assassins
5. and a toss up between bafford's or undercover

I agree with the too many monster missions from Thief Gold, but I really like the "undead" levels like Down in the Bonehoard, The Haunted Cathedral and Return to the Haunted Cathedral. Those three levels are just so well done imo.
