I've finished Ape Escape and only 1/3 of APe Escape 2, haven't started Ape Escape 3 yet, but I love the first one. The second one seems pretty good so far. I guess it isn't worse, but the fact is when the first one came out, it was amazing. It had that new original factor, which the second and third don't and can't have. It was the first game I had that really used the dual shock. Plus it's funny. So, anyone played all 3? Or even the PSP versions etc? What did you think? --- R.I.P Nicky-------------Pat---------------Mother Puss 1989-30/4/02__198?-20/11/02__198?-22/12/02
well i guess this is really only an opinion but i only really loved the first ape escape the second one had solid gameplay but it's missing something that first one had and that's atmosphere. the levels looked really cheesy and boring and the music was awful. the third ape escape i thought was a step up from the second but again missing something that first one had. the music in the third one was pretty good though as for the psp one, avoid it. it's just a remake of the first but taking away the dual analog controller, which sounds like is the main thing that appealed to you
Well yeh, that was one of the main things that made Ape Escape special. It would have been a lot different if not for dual shock. If I remember, the vibration was also pretty well used too. As for the atmosphere, that would probably describe my first encounter with AE2. Different character and the girl at the lab was different. I guess it feels better to think of it as a new game rather than a sequel. (not sure if AE3 carries on from 2, character and story wise) I wonder what they could do with a PS3 remake? maybe 3000 monkeys instead of 300. maybe like a lot of things, the first is the best, and can't be bettered. --- R.I.P Nicky-------------Pat---------------Mother Puss 1989-30/4/02__198?-20/11/02__198?-22/12/02
I've got both 1 and 3, and will be getting 2 over ebay soon.
I love 1, and it is definitely more basic than 3. So far it feels meatier than 3, but I haven't gotten that far in 3 really.
I like that certain monkeys are just downright impossible to get in early stages in AE 1 until much later, whereas in AE3 it doesn't take long to come back to the beginning and get them. Both are great though, the monkeys definitely have more variety in AE 3. I kind of view them all as one big game. --- http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q54/Master_Cilander/Lam.jpg
That's what I would say too. A few game series are like that, each one is just a part of one big game. --- R.I.P Nicky-------------Pat---------------Mother Puss 1989-30/4/02__198?-20/11/02__198?-22/12/02
