It gives you some protection from death spells, I think

It gives you a +3 to death attack. In other words, you auto-kill creatures vulnerable to death 1/4 of the time.

No, it gives +3 to Death defense. It doesn't auto-kill.

Well, it certainly doesn't give you immunity to death-type attacks by itself, so... 'some' is still correct.
