Subliminal Hint?

I recently started my first playthrough of this game (yes, I overlooked it when it first came out). In the transition rooms between red doors, I noticed the disc with "CD" beneath it. Is this some sort of subliminal hint Konami was giving you to put the disc in CD player? Kind of neat if you ask me.

I always thought it stood for Count Dracula. But really, who knows?

I liked how it still read "CD" in the inverted castle.
"Brush away those tears underneath your mask!"

It stands for "compact disc" because those are the loading rooms.

Exactly what Mr Hangman said. Isn't that kind of obvious?

I dunno, you could argue Count Dracula. The hidden track in the CD player does kind of make me lean towards Compact Disc

I could understand arguing this point if there wasn't also a CD icon above the "CD" text, but THERE'S A CD ICON ABOVE THE "CD" TEXT. There's no point in reading too much into this. It's a room in which the CD is accessed in order to load the next area, although it's worth noting that this functionality is broken in the Saturn version, making these CD rooms completely pointless in that version.

what's funny is that I've never actually seen the letters "CD" in that room myself despite how many times I went through the game so far (30 times at least!)

What was Dracula thinking, decorating his castle like that. CD's are so out of his genre.
