Immigrant town tips?

#1Taishi Ci CCRPosted 3/7/2013 1:05:06 PM
I create this topic because the FAQs don't really explain what I'm trying to do. I know I want the Bazaar so I only invite merchants. I know to leave the permanent immigrants for last. BUT! I know I need the normal town to get a ? Shard.

So let's say I have 20 merchants (I know I need 21 for Bazaar but that will be the permanent merchant.) And I start inviting random nobodies like men, women, guards, scholars, ect. to get "Normal" and get my shard. Now... Do I just kick one person, get my 21st merchant and the town transforms into Bazaar OR do I need to kick five or so randoms to devolve the town one form THEN work back to final with 21 merchants? Thanks.

Also, I'm nearing disc two (I know you can't get a final town on Disc 1. This question is irrelevant to that) but I don't want to start it yet. Is there anything misable if I don't get it on disc one? I'm using a walkthrough, so I think I got most everything. I mean things like Monster Book/Park. I want to complete the monster book. Are there certain monsters only on disc 1 or are they all on disc 2? I know about Gracos V. I took him out ASAP. I just mean like random monsters in certain areas. Thanks again!

Yes once you start disc 2 all the weak monsters from every disc 1 area get replaced by stronger monsters until the final dungeon opens up.

As for town itself getting the normal final form is way too easy the other forms are just too random to get the required NPCs to join it.

However if you want some of the best tiny medal items on disc 1 getting the max 27 NPCs to join the town on disc 1 is still a good idea.

I think that if you meet the requirements for a final form it will appear. Make sure to get the mini medals from all the forms before the final form because you will not be able to get them if you have a final form. The mini medals are needed to do the bonus dungeons and bosses.

What's a more awkward title? Final Fantasy II or the Neverending Story II?

Also, I just got my first non normal final form, the grand slums. It took a while but it was worth it. I think the Mega Bazaar is easier to get.

Vegh, is there a monster book list that shows all 298 and where they are? I just looked through my book and I don't think I'm missing many. I grind often. I know from my last playthrough that once you get to a certain point the screen goes black and says "Please insert disc two" and there's no going back. So I'm just grinding in coastal for now until I figure this town deal out. So far I have eight immigrants. All merchants. I just named the town.

Slime, thanks for your input but you never really answered my question. I remember reading here that you posted you wanted to get the bonus dungeons. So did you get Normal and convert it to Slums? Or did you just get Slums? I don't see how getting Normal, kicking one person out and getting my 21st merchant will magically change the final form. It seems more logical to devolve the town to 27 immigrants and get back to Bazaar. Right?

Also, I know a bonus ? Shard is a prize in the Coastal Casino. Problem is, I suck at gambling. The FAQs also fail to explain the gambling mechanics very thoroughly also. Is there any way to increase odds of winning other than the ID Card and Puff Puff? Also, how the hell does that poker game work? I don't understand it lol. Thanks again guys. I really appreciate it.

I had the normal first and then kicked out the people who I did not need for the Grand Slum. Then I got all the people for the Grand Slum. Yeah, you need to get Normal first so you get one of the shards for the bonus dungeon. To answer the gambling question I have to tell you a little about my current playthrough. I grinded for experience against the metal enemies before the game's conclusion because I knew I needed to be at a high enough level to fight the bonus bosses. This made me accumulate a lot of gold. The price for the ?? Shard is rather low and you do not need a lot of tokens to win it. I made the Grand Slums and I had lot of gold that I converted to tokens. I just played the highest token slot machine, I think it was at a hundred tokens each. Keep in mind that this is in the Grand Slums. I would save anytime I had more then my original amount of tokens. It took me a few hours but I was able to get almost everything I wanted from two casino within a day. Keep in mind that you can use tokens from one casino in another. The things I bought included the metal helms from Coastal for all the characters who could equip them. I think the guide makes a mistake because I do not think Maribel can equip the Metal Helm. The game will asks you who wants it and then warn you if the character cannot equip it.

No the monster list book does exist but it only lists the name of the said monster its max HP/item drops but NOT where you fight it and the monsters only appear on that list after you fight it at least once.

However this site does have a monster list + location faq for every monster/boss in game and where to fight it.

Are you sure you checked my guide? It clearly has a description of the games as well as a pretty in depth analysis on how to play poker. It's in the Inn and Casino section.

Well I read that part of the same faqs and still had trouble winning double or nothing especially if the game hates you so that when you go high on a 3 or low on a Jack a 4 shows up for low on a 3 or a Queen to Joker shows up when you go low on a Jack only to lose everything.

But its hard to win double or nothing if a 7 to 10 shows up.

Slime, when you kicked out people to replace them with Slums, you devolved the town at least one form, right? That's my question.

There's a monster list FAQ. I'll just use that. =)
