I look at something like this: http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/ViperXtreme/emulators/f4.jpg and I think to myself "That looks pretty rad!" But I can't get the game to actually look anything like that using those shaders.
Not that being stuck with 4xGLSLHQ is the end of the world or anything. |

My main deal was that I couldn't get it configured properly (which is a pretty common problem, apparently). I won't be able to get much less vague as far as the software goes.
Anyway, I was able to get it set up to where it looks decent outside of battle but also looks good in battle:
All resolution settings at the highest, filtering level is 2, I use 2xSaI but it looks decent with stretching too (2xSaI looks better in battle but introduces minor "green lines" outside of battle, nothing too major. Stretching is clean all-around but not quite as impressive-looking).
Open the .slf file and tweak these settings: th = 0.50 bb = 0.75 pp = 0.35
Shader level is 1 or 2. If I knew a way to reduce the blurring at higher levels I'd push it higher, but I don't know how to edit these crazy shader files.
It gives a pretty "light" cartoon effect, nothing too extreme, definitely makes the game look a lot cooler to these eyes. With something closer to the default you'll get a more impressive in-battle appearance, but you'll have to turn it off outside of battle for the rest of the game to be playable, so I like my way best for its simplicity (after the initial setup).
To the majority of people who will read the above as a bunch of gibberish, I apologize. |
