In honor of the upcoming NFL playoffs, I propose a little tournament purely for fun and modeled somewhat on the sport.
Setup Each participant will enter a single generic unit (following the guidelines set out below). Once all entries are in, Team Captains will be randomly selected from the eligible units. Once Team Captains are selected, we will hold a ‘draft’ during which each Team Captain will take turns selecting a unit from the pool of available units. During or immediately after the draft, the Team Captain will be responsible for 1) Choosing a name for the team, 2) Choosing a primary color and a secondary color, and 3) Choosing a map to act as the team’s “home field.”
Play Following setup, a schedule will be posted in which the teams will play each other, either home or away. The schedule will generally attempt to give teams an equal number of home and away games. The games themselves are best of three matches (1st half, 2nd half, OT) played on the home team’s map. For the second match, the starting positions of the teams will be switched. If both teams win one match, then the positions will be randomized and an OT match will be conducted.
The number of games will be based on the number of teams, which in turn will be based on the number of entrants.
At the end of the season, the 6 best teams will be involved in a playoff tournament, with the teams with the better record receiving home field advantage. The final battle will take place on a random map.
Rules We are playing by 1.3 rules so that I can use that nifty tournament hack some brilliant people developed. That said, there are a few balancing issues that need to be addressed.
Golem and Hamedo are banned, mainly because they make the AI act stupid. Meteor and Bahamut are banned. Throwing Axes and Knight Swords is banned, but I think 1.3 already does this.
Additional Balancing: No unit can have both Throw and Steal. No Thief/Ninjas and no Ninja/Thieves. If your unit has the skill ‘Throw’ as either primary or secondary, your zodiac sign must be Scorpio. If your unit has the skill ‘Steal’ as either primary or secondary, your zodiac sign must be Pisces
Explanation: The Throw skill set and Steal Heart are longtime favorites of these tournaments. Although it is true you can slap on a N Kai Armlet or the reaction Catch, I thought I would add a few more options. If you are worried about a particular ability, you can now adjust your compatibility accordingly. The fact that Scorpio and Pisces are good compatibility should hopefully make these two skillsets dangerous to each other.
Otherwise: Monsters are banned, because they need specific team setups to do well. Brave and Faith are (as usual) between 40 and 70. Equipment is any buyable. This means that abilities that rely on non-buyable equipment (looking at you Draw Out) are effectively banned.
Please post your units in the topic, following whatever format you wish (so long as all the relevant information is there). Please specify what abilities your character knows, or just say “all” or “all except...” If being a Team Captain sounds like too much work or hassle, please indicate that you are opting out of captain eligibility
If anyone wants to help me out on this, I will gladly take assistance. I reserve the right to withdraw if my computer blows up, I’m hit by a car, or a Russian Space Station falls on me.
Hopefully, this will be a fun way to celebrate Final Fantasy Tactics and Football!
Let me know if I've missed something or if this is plain stupid.

Is there a list of what's available in shops in 1.3? Assuming its different from Vanilla, as I can't remember. --- "BUT 1 KNOW... TH3 B1GG3ST 4ND MOST 1MPORT4NT S3CR3T OF 4LL. LUCK DO3SNT 4CTU4LLY M4TT3R" Terezi Pyrope, Homestuck

if you do all the other stuff I can record videos Effy --- I am in love, albeit two sided as of yet Gamefaqs mods fear that which they haven't seen
Brave does not have to equal faith in this. That old rule was mainly meant for Bladegrasp, which is eliminated in 1.3
Although each user will only submit one unit, a team will be composed of four units. If we can't get enough people to join that might get changed, but for right now, plan on 4 units per team. --- This space is dedicated to Final Fantasy Tactics, the truly Best. Game. Ever.
