Easiest way to get Malboro Tentacles w/o killing?

Title.

I'm playing this game to and intend to use all the <stat> Bonus abilities to increase my base stats. However, Bad Breath screws over that plan by inflicting Sleep, Berserk and Confuse on my party. (As well as various other status effects, but most of those don't matter...)
So far, I've tried Mugging(while blinded) and Carding, but either strategy gets broken when the Malboro uses Bad Breath. What(if any) magic would be worth junctioning to my ST-Def for these guys, and what GFs have ST-Defx4? Right now, I only have 2, I believe.

Play the Card Game - 4 Malboro cards = 1 Tentacle.

Berserk and Confuse/Sleep - you lose control of the party, and you really want your Mugger to hit. Cerberus and, IIRC, Doomtrain have ST-DEFx4 naturally. I want to say that Siren's Card gives you 3 Status Guards, but don't quote me.

No, I don't want my Mugger to hit, actually. Dealing damage gives me EXP, which results in level-ups. I'm not leveling up just yet.

I'll want Confuses and Berserks, though. What's the easiest monsters to draw them from? (All my characters are at their original levels, although some are just barely from accidental EXP.)

Heal it.

This FAQ tells you how to get each spell, and also how to get any items that refine to that spell:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/197343/4916
(when using CTRL+F, turn on "Match Case" and search for the spell/item name in ALL CAPS)

This FAQ will tell you exactly where to find any monster you're looking for:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/197343/4916
(when using CTRL+F, search for the monster name preceded by x and a space, like "x Wendigo" for Wendigos)

This FAQ will break down, in a very readable format, what your chance of getting a given steal/drop from an enemy at a given level is:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/197343/51741
(when using CTRL+F, search for the monster name preceded by "Name: ", like "Name: Wendigo" for Wendigos. You might have to search a second time if the first search pulls up the entry for the monster's card instead of the entry for the monster itself)

The items that refine to Berserk and Confuse and Steel Pipe and Betrayal Sword.
