Break MP Limit

Is there ever a use for this? It seems pointless.

Probably the best use for it would be for Yuna or Lulu with their celestial weapons sincerity increases in power the more MP they have. But with max stats it's pretty easy to deal 99999 damage with them so it's probably more useful if you're not aiming for max stats.

No, it doesn't matter how much MP they have, only what % of their max MP they have. Having 500 MP out of 999 MP will have the same effect as having 5000 MP out of 9999 MP; and at any rate with One MP Cost on both weapons it's quite negligable except against MP-drain attacks, which Immolation is the only significant one and at any rate you're better off using the other characters in that fight - the guys for Counterattack/E&C and Rikku for Mix.

Also, they don't increase in power. They have 100% damage at full MP, and drop from there. ONLY Auron's can actually go over 100% of normal (ie: pre-celestial modifier) damage.

Having both Break HP Limit and Break MP Limit on your armor gives you the "highest" tier armor name and appearance. As others have stated, it serves no practical purpose in battle, since there's One MP Cost. It's more of an aesthetic/status thing.

^ Even One MP Cost honestly isn't *that* useful. Most enemy attacks that affect MP will get either an insignificant amount, or all your MP at once, and in the absence of those, you can usually kill anything long before running out.

Fair enough, though there are some bosses where magicks are preferable (required, Jumbo Flan) and you do want the decrease in MP: if you plan on using magicks you should be running around with Magic Booster and doublecasting boosted Flares will deplete that thousand MP fairly quickly.

Nothing is vital however, it is just what you'd take otherwise. After BDL, One MP Cost and Magic Booster they're set and the fourth slot is free: boost it (Magic +20%) or use utilities (First Strike, Initiative etc). Another slot to replace One MP Cost has no better use than One MP Cost itself.

In that sense the Nirvana and Onion Knight are odd ones out in terms of Celestials as they relate to using magic but do not affect it whatsoever, hence the suggestion to just use fabricated magical weapons for them with better abilities and damage unrelated to their proportion of MP.

BMPL is even more striking: even at max MP, BMPL only increases spell quantity ten fold, whereas One MP Cost does so based on the spell, but many times more if we're talking powerful spells.

Magic Booster - Magic +20% - Magic +10% - Break Damage Limit doublecast Blizzaga on self with Ice Eater on armor?

Spellspring is a broken status and makes Break MP Limit the worst ability in the game.

Ultimaga: That's completely unneeded at 9999 HP (Megalixir / Healing Water, or even Auto-Potion, is faster), but is definitely superior to Curaga at BHPL levels, especially if you leave your magic defence low.
