Hey, pbirdman. (Or anyone else who knows.)

Was it ever discovered if Mix actually runs off a formula of some kind, or is every result explicitly defined?

If it helps in any way, the official strategy guide included a Mix chart which showed every(?) possible combo and outcome. I cannot verify that all the results are absolutely true, but all the combos I tried were correct, so it appears to be at least mostly accurate. If that is the case, with the way it was structured, the Mix chart leads me to believe it was both formulaic AND defined...

I know where to find a list of combos. I'm just interested in the technical details.

To answer your question Yes each individual Mix uses a formula just like any kind of attack does (theres no special Mix only formula if that's what your asking) so in Mix case most will probably used Formula 9 which is Pwr * 50 w/ Random Variance
Some others will use different ones like the Gravity type ones and healing ones etc

Full list of Formulas are listed in my guide in the sig below
If you want any other info then just let me know?

No no, I was meaning like... is there a formula which determines the result of the mix? Or is each combination of items hardcoded?

I'd assume it's hardcoded.

That's what I was trying to explain: it appears that the outcome is a hybrid of hardcoded and formulaic. There are certain mixes that will only occur with two specific items, but there appear to be others that are less rigidly defined and behave more like a formula.

Well it looks like a lot of the items are grouped together. So if you hardcoded it you could use the item groups which would simplify things a lot.

I see. I was mostly interested cause I'm working on a Mix skill for my game, and while I already have a formula I quite like, I'm also pretty open to other ideas so was wondering if I might've picked up any good ones from FFX's.
