Just map A and B on the right side of the controller and use the right analog stick for the C buttons. Don't tell me you can't figure out a configuration for yourself.

How would you actually get the controller to act as a plugin?

A and X (360) for A and B, respectively. Right analog for C-buttons. RT or LT for Z. RB and LB for R and L.

If you can't figure out the joystick and D-pad, there's nothing we can do for you.

No, as in I can't get the controller to be registered by the emulator.

Which emulator are you using? The only version I'm familiar with is Project64.
