You can technically still play this game online if you possess the necessary technical skill, correct? Is it difficult to do? --- well, the idea is that you try to avoid getting shot. Sparkster on Airsoft/Paintball

There are multiple private servers still up and running. You will need a Code Breaker/Action Replay disc in order to enter or load the code files necessary to redirect PSO to the correct IP address in order to access a private server. Make sure you read the directions on doing so thoroughly as if done wrong you can corrupt your PSO save files on any VMU connected to the system at time of code activation.
Just do a search for "Schthack's Server" and you'll find the very much active site of the very first private PSO server that came into existence.
There are quite a few others out there in existence now, but they're primarily rip-off's of Schthack's, and far less popular. --- Welcome To The Next Level---SEGA http://www.segaforums.com/hosted/psoarchive/

I have logged on successfully to the schthack private servers and unless you make explicit plans to meet another dreamcast users online, you will disappointed.
As of the time this is posted, the entire online population is a mixture of PC "Blue Burst" and Gamecube users (though mostly PC users) who cannot reliably play together in a game and interactions are limited to the lobby. The one time I did find someone else (another DC user) I was disconnected once and my console reset - perhaps it was just my bad luck but without a larger pool of available people, it will be difficult to know to for sure.
