Yes there is an English patch that translates the menus. There is also another program called PSO2 Tweaker that has an option that translate a lot of the weapons/items/armors into english too. Most of the NPC's speech is still in Japanese though.

I bought the DC v2 again earlier this year for some nostalgic single player fun. Somehow it's a really relaxing experience.

I also sometimes play the Gamecube version in local multiplayer with my gf, she's enjoying it so much it made her buy PSZ for DS.

I wish you could play dc version with local multiplayer. as I have enough dc's around.

PSO is one of, if not THE, best games I've ever played. Period.

PSO2, as Exo401 mentioned, is very good. I just started it a few days ago. I was waiting (and waiting) for the NA version, but it looks like it may never come here. So I downloaded the JP version, and the PSO2 Tweaker program, and it's more than playable. Sure, there's still some things in Japanese, but all the main menu's and even a lot of the dialogue is translated now, and they're still adding more English translations. The game itself is awesome - a true sequel to PSO.

Have any of you tried to connect to the private servers on the dreamcast? I have the broadband adapter and action replay but I couldn't figure it out at the time. I have played on the PC but I wanted to try playing on the DC again.

Really regret not playing this online when it came out... is it still fun playing by yourself in offline mode? I'm thinking about getting into it eventually.

It's still worth playing offline.

None of the private servers have ever managed to recapture the authentic feel and experience of playing on the official servers.
