Extreme battle level 3...them dogs!!

#1darkvoid2100Posted 10/21/2011 11:45:43 AM
I've died so much on this! the dogs instant kill you on caution and theres so many of them! I've been trying to do this with ada and it's crazy, some rooms have 4-5 dogs and if you happen to enter the room on caution your getting your throat ripped out if one pounces you.

3 leg bites from a zombie = danger!

2 dog bites = danger

It's really easy to be on caution. damn dogs!

I only finished ex battle 3 with leon and chris... too hard for bad weapons... :/

Ada's SMG is the best thing you can possibly have for Cerberuses and Lickers. There's enough ammo (barely) to kill all of them on the most direct paths towards the bombs. If you aren't taking the most direct paths and run out of SMG ammo, then yeah, you're fairly boned.

Claire's GL is probably the all around best weapon to deal with everything you come across, and you never stop finding ammo for it. I'd say she has the easiest out of anybody.

IMO beating it with Leon is the toughest, since his Shottie isn't as powerful and/or has such a long reload time that you get decimated by Cerberuses and Lickers before you're able to shoot again, especially in certain rooms with certain enemy placement. Chris isn't as good as the chicks either, but he handles the Shottie far better than Leon does (and he doesn't have to upgrade it, does he?)

Watch out for Super Lickers and Doggie Birkin. Both of those can kill in 2 hits (so being tag-teamed by a duo of Super Lickers is certain death if you don't get the drop on them).

Well, I just tried it again and got as far as 2 bombs!

the last 2 bombs were either in

bens cell (parking lot guarded by birkin dog, hallway before cell guarded by g-embryo boss...)
Room with furnance (Hallway outside office with safe was guarded yet again by birkin dog...)
Where you meet sherry near irons office (walked in hall, licker dropped, 2 swipes, dead =( )

I was expecting to die by one of the bosses, not a puny licker...

First run, I went into the parking lot, instant hit by birkin dog (cheap) I was still on fine and started to run, he caught up to me and...dead. good thing I saved just before then.

Had to rely on the bowgun for most of the police station, doggies took most of my smg.

Ooh that video! they cheat as well as kill you in 2 hits, this run tho not one dog hit me, I just killed all the ones in my way. (there sure are A LOT!! of rooms with packs of dogs, good thing I didn't need to go through them, I just turned around, exited and went the long way...)

I'll try again sometime soon, wish you could find more ink ribbons.

I might give Claire a try, you make a good point about everything being grenade ammo, I would of loved to trade all that handgun ammo I got for grenades.

Claire is very strong if you know which grenades to use.

Well, I just tried it with Claire, MUCH easier! everything dies in 1 shot pretty much if you use the correct round (tho some lickers did survive 1 acid round and got cheeky death hits, not sure what determines if they survive a hit or not? is it if the acid hits their brains?)

Got to 3 bombs and it was between bens cell or the furnace room...saw birkin dog outside safe room so picked the basement, got there being battered (2 crow pecks and danger, ugh!) and had to pass birkin dog anyway in the parking lot =/ + g-embryo and guess what? no bomb...ran back with no healing, birkin hit me, I went into the sidepack storage room hoping just maybe it has healing, lickers survived some grenades to the face and swiped my ankle...dead.

I will, someday finish ex-3...just got to pick the right locations!

But yeah, claire is so much easier, all the ammo you find is useful! plants dead in 1 shot, zombies dead in 1 (2 if unluckly, hate the ones who survive and crawl...) lickers dead in 1 (or 2 if very unlucky)

Yeah, that Sidepack room is one of the ones with the deadly duo of Super Lickers, lol. Grenade Rounds are usually most effective against Super Lickers, and can usually kill them in one shot in the main game. Might take two in EBM3. Acid are best for the regular ones in the main game, I assume it's the same in EBM3 but maybe they'll occasionally take more than one as well. There are tricks to getting by all the ones in the Sewer or Kennel without firing a shot or taking damage, either by exploiting their hearing or just some faster clever dodging which would be a bit difficult to explain even if I remembered the specifics, lol.

Best route IMO is left at the sewer junction up to Ben's cell, easily run by the G Embryo without getting hit, pass by Birkin once (if you get a shot of a quick weapon off in time it can repel him and give you a chance to pass by unharmed, though usually works best with a simple Handgun. Otherwise, eat a FAS or RG Herb). Go into Sidepack room if you're daring (with Grenade Rounds equipped) to stock up, then head up to the bunk room with the Ivies for #2. Then the 1F East media room where X busts through the walls in B for #3 (gotta pass by Birkin twice, which again can be done without damage but until you learn the patterns sacrifice another healing item or two), and then through either path on the 1F West side to the Briefing Room (outside route has a chance of Birkin, inside just has some Cerberuses but takes a little longer while speedrunning). That's basically the fastest route for speedruns when you get lucky with the bomb placement.

If you still need more, head up to the 2F from there, S.T.A.R.S. room, 3F cog room, then east to Iron's office and finally the Birkin lodge (way outta the way and harder to avoid him IIRC).

You can do them in any order obviously, but I found that worked best for me for fastest speedruns and as little risk as possible.
