Okay, so I made a lot of these codes a few years back and intended on posting them here... I forgot about the text file though, so it's a little late coming. I just have to state that the following is straight from my text file with no editing and it doesn't mention that the in battle character bonuses modifiers mess with the game like crazy. Somebody would need to create a code that allows that code to only trigger during a battle I assume which just further complicates the fact that the code is already complicated enough as is. Oh well, without further ado! Thought I'd share a code I created a while back (about 6 months ago, in fact) with all of you. The following code allows you to pick and choose, with a somewhat absurd level of broken hilarity, what are normally equipment exclusive abilities. The great thing about the code is that it allows you to have every single effect from every piece of equipment in the game all at once and never have to worry about them wearing off. Yeah, God Mode. Imagine, always absorb all forms of damage and be immune to all status ailments while at the same time greatly boosting the damage you deal all without actually having to forever modify your core stats. Of course, there are also a lot of less broken things you can do. Sadly, there is one minor flaw with the code that I'm simply unable to resolve. The way the game handles character data in battle is goofy as hell. While the majority of the characters all share the same location a few have values just a tiny bit off. It sucks that Precis, Ashton, Ernest and Chisato all have different ranges that govern their in battle modifiers because this makes a universal code impossible. To make a code that suits your needs simply pick a leader for your party and then >subtract< the values listed by each name below. It's important to note that the entirety of the math here is in Hex. Windows calculator has built in hex functions if you turn it to Scientific and then click Hex. As would a Macs calculator, I'm sure. If you take a glance a little further down you'll see that I've listed each characters Base value below. Once you have your Base values you then need to pick what abilities you want to have and that's done by taking your parties slot values and adding a line (Base Y's + Subgroup #) for each subgroup below that has things you want to use and adding up each abilities value to get the value for ??. I'll show some examples and other forum users will surely be able to help you out. I'd like to help but I don't have net and have to rely on public PCs so the time I have net is limited and precious (it's been two years since I made this code and I just now posted it...). --- People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realize how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world.
You also need to decide if you want your code to start with a 3 or an 8 in place of X. To simplify things I'd suggest using the code type starting with 3... But if you know how to use codes starting with an 8 you can use them too. The only difference is that code type 8 will combine two of the "Base +" groups below into a single line. Keep in mine that an 8 type code can NOT combine ability subgroups that are more than +/- 1 "Base +" group from any other "Base +" group. You can combine 3 & 4 but not 0 & 7 for example. Also, and this is incredibly important, there is a chance that your version of Star Ocean 2 is different than mine. I know for a fact that a lot, far too many, of the original codes from Code Breaker simply do not work on my version of the game and I've had to make my own codes. The easiest way to find out is to input this code 301EDFA4 0020 and then load your game up. Put Claude in slot 1 and remove all his equipment. Get into a battle and if you can move around like you had Bunny Shoes equipped these codes will probably work for you. In fact, if the Have All Voice Clip code never worked for you these probably will. Lastly, there are several values that are seemingly never used by the game. Or, at least, never used by any equipment or usable in-battle item. I really lost interest in discovering what they did considering I wasn't able to figure out what certain items did (like the Battalia Ring) coupled with the fact that I tried every single item in the game all in one afternoon. Please, somebody, figure out what certain unknown item effects do and if possible fill in the blanks in the data too. Format of code Base X01EDYYY 00?? P.S.S. This is my full code list for Star Ocean 2. Some of these codes are official Code Breaker codes but the rest are all created by me. I've seen codes like some of these online but I don't really have any idea if my versions are the same. If so, credit goes to the original creators of these codes whoever they may be. In fact, I don't give a rat's ass if you credit me for any of the following codes, because ANYBODY could make them just as easily as me. I'll make notes for codes that may not be fully self explanatory. The following Orchestra codes allow you to create items as though you were under the influence of Orchestra at all times (even if you aren't far enough to even play Orchestra). Thus far those three variants worked for me in all locations I've tried although I don't create items in dungeons so it's VERY possible these three don't cover all areas in the game. Ha, some of those are very interesting codes. I agree that some codes for this game are pretty messed up. A lot of them can cause or increase the occurrence of glitches and crashes. Still could be fun to try. Thanks for sharing. I'm curious on how you found/discovered them? Did you need some other program other than an emu and hex editor? And I also think you should submit them to the codebreaker site so that more people can find it. This thread probably won't last too long.
Yeah, I had planned on posting them over at GSHI and possibly at a few other places. However, GameFAQs is my primary hangout so you guys get them first. --- People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realize how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world.
I'm curious on how you found/discovered them? Did you need some other program other than an emu and hex editor? Heh, oops. I meant to comment on that earlier. The way I found the codes was through the use of epsxe and the PEC plugin. PEC has a basic search function allowing you to compare current values with previous ones. I also have Hex Workshop on my PC which is also supported by PEC. So, for codes like Orchestra I was using compare searches to find a good likely starting point and then I would narrow things down using the Hex editor. I've actually got a lot of custom codes made for around 10 or so classic PSX games. --- People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realize how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world. |
