Sorry for the delay. Here's my next one:

Though I stand out from my peers,
You may not notice me straight away.
But you may return to me,
When you wake the old man from his daze.

This might be a longshot, but my guess is the Wise Wisterwood. He stands out, obviously, compared to the little bub-ulbs around him. Yet he's so big he's almost like part of the background scenery so you may not notice him right away. But in order to grow your vine, you have to talk to him, after you've "awoken" the sun.

So far, none are correct. Here are a couple more verses along with a hint.

The old man sends you to me for something to gain,
But in fact, it's actually located in his domain.

Also, the subject of the riddle is not a sentient being, hence my saying not to take the term "peers" too literally.

A quick google search of "paper mario old man" got the answer, I believe.

Is it the red (it was red, right?) palm tree in Dry Dry Outpost?

Though I stand out from my peers,
You may not notice me straight away.

It's a different color than normal, but you probably won't notice it if you're not looking for it.

But you may return to me,
When you wake the old man from his daze

I don't remember any time you wake up Merlon.

The old man sends you to me for something to gain,
But in fact, it's actually located in his domain.

You have to return to the tree and run around it, only to find out that all you had to do was Spin Jump in Merlon's house to make Quick Change fall from the attic.

Yoda is correct.

As for the daze I was referring to, from what I recall, Merlon was dozing off outside of his house during or after having that dream.

Just a note, from now on, I'm going to have a riddle "in stock," so to speak, before I answer so I don't keep you guys waiting for three days after I guess. =]

A pretty easy one since I'm just filling in for Yoda.

A battle with us
can cost quite a bit
you'll take 40 in "damage"
if you don't block or hit

4 Koopatrols, if they all charged up.

If that's right, I again pass the Great Riddle-Making Staff of Ultimate Power to someone else.

Incorrect... koopatrols wouldn't stop at 40, but anyway note the quotes around damage... not the typical usage of hp loss.
