It's possible, just a little tricky. I'm actually attempting my first no-health pack run and had to relearn how to get across safely.
Walk along the wall to either the right or left side corner and then walk forward until you're about a step and a half away from the contact pad. Do a regular forward jump, no running. You just have to time it so you jump a split second after it starts zapping one of the other pads. If you jump before it actually connects with another pad it will instantly zap the one you're jumping over.
