I am not sure if it'll show up if I provide link to it. I would like to get some early thoughts on my Mega Man X guide that I'm working on. Although haven't had a chance to really start on the walkthrough part while trying to do a few things before I start working on that part of it. Here it is and hope that there isn't any problem viewing it: http://warhawkfaqs.webs.com/FAQs/Mega%20Man%20X%20Walkthrough.txt --- CRP: 12949 | FAQs: 15 FAQ Outlaws | Mega Man X
Looking good bro. Its very easy to follow and it doesn't look cluttered at all. Liking it so far :) --- Total Files / Complete FAQs / Starred FAQs / KB: 66 / 29 / 6 / 8,543KB Reached Prolific Contributor: September 2010
I'm trying to go with a new approach compared to the other guides that are up for it. Though I was checking out a few of the guides for X2 and felt disappointed in a few of them that I looked at. --- CRP: 12949 | FAQs: 15 FAQ Outlaws | Mega Man X
Looks good man. A few points of constructive criticism (if you don't mind) to make it even better: 1. It's not necessary to put 'Copyright 2013 - 2015' in your copyright sections. Just putting 'Copyright 2013' is sufficient, even when the year ends. 2. Readers generally prefer to read text from a 'readers' perspective, which is different from speaking out loud or typing up (informal) emails. Here's an excerpt of what you've written, and below is a text with the same content, but written from a readers perspective. First, you write: My first attempt at doing a guide for a Mega Man game. While a older title and when the Mega Man got a facelift on the newest console [at the time] the successor to the Nintendo, the Super Nintendo. I have been asked "Why do a guide for a game that's like 20 years old?" and my answer is simple "I always wanted to do a guide for one of the earlier Mega Man games whether if it was for the "Classic" or the "X" series. Here's an example of a rewrite: This is my first attempt to write a guide for a Mega Man game. While it's an older title, back then it was a facelift of the series. People have asked me why I've chosen to write a guide for a game that's 20 years old and the reason is quite simply that I've always wanted to do a guide for one of the earlier Mega Man titles (be it for the "Classic" or the "X" series). One of the key tricks is to use a full stop at the right places. I sometimes goof up on it myself, but it's definitely worth it for your readers to knit two separate sentences together in one longer sentence to get readers into the flow of your text. --- www.facebook.com/absolutesteve
I guess having a 6 year hiatus does that to one person. --- CRP: 12949 | FAQs: 15 FAQ Outlaws | Mega Man X
I agree with Steve. Try to write from a reader's perspective. It can be difficult, sometimes I have to stop and think about how to word things so that I'm not referring to myself. A six year hiatus is a while, you'll get back into it and I'm sure it'll flow naturally once more from your fingertips. --- Currently Writing for: Ni no Kuni Prolific Contributor: www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/32351.html
Looking good. One thing I noticed was the guide split everything into stages instead of Bosses. My gut tells me bosses would look better in a ToC but it isn't a big deal. --- The Blitz Knight rides again! Facebook: http://Facebook.com/Bkstunt -=- Website: http://Bkstunt.com

My gut tells me bosses would look better in a ToC but it isn't a big deal. One thing I learned from the Silent Hill guide is don't try to ruin it (mostly for anyone playing for the first time). That is why I have the ToC like I do. I want to keep to that cause I'll never know who's going to be playing the game for the first time. I guess it's with that being my only project up on here so far and kind of wanting to try to go with how I done with that project. --- CRP: 12949 | FAQs: 15 FAQ Outlaws | Mega Man X

My gut tells me bosses would look better in a ToC but it isn't a big deal. if you don't want to add them, then replace the stage names with the boss names in MMX you know the name of the stages only during the credits, at the end of the game, so if an user read "factory stage", he will NEVER understand precisely which of them it is on the stage select screen because there are no names there, only shining dots on a little map instead an user can understand quickly which boss is there just watching its portrait or, in this case, reading its name next to (or in place of) the stage one |
