AbsoluteSteve posted...Just out of curiosity, but what's your guys main motivation for writing reviews for games that are already oversaturated? Is it an exercise in writing?
Not really. It's something I really enjoy doing as a hobby and I don't really pay attention to how many reviews a game already has. Obviously, my reviews for games that originally had none get far more hits but the fact that they all get hits is what motivated me to start writing them regularly. I guess it's the feeling of having an audience that drives me to write as many reviews as I can. I also love sharing my opinion and I'm on a mission to have one review earn a star...so theoretically writing as many reviews as possible increases the odds of that happening.
I will concede the point that it is a lot of fun writing a review for a game that had none. You feel like you are breaking new ground or something.
Further, I also keep track of the raw score I assign each game and keep them ranked in a Word document. Using a series of tiebreakers I can rank them all and determine which is, in fact, my favorite games.
A lot of people tell me I have an obsessive-compulsive personality and I seem to have an obsession with listing things, so that probably goes along with it.
