Differences between SEED and Remastered? (spoilers)

#1CharocksPosted 1/16/2012 7:09:54 PM
So since I'm too lazy to find the Remastered SEED episodes, whats different so far?

I know Defrock made it's main-series debut but not much else.

Sharper graphics/ animations, a few new scenes, openings changed a bit. Seeing it in HD is pretty awesome.
Waiting for FF Type-0, FF Theatrythm, Kingdom Hearts 3D, Lord of Apocalypse, Starcraft II Heart of the Swarm, Skyrim DLC, Gundam SEED Battle Destiny

Bear in mind that newer animation isn't necessarily better animation. Combat looks better, characters look... so very, very much worse.

Characters look like their Destiny forms, which is for the better.

Thanks for the link! For some reason, I just love looking through these comparison type of stuff.

A quick summary I've found from seeing a few episodes:

1) A new remix of the original ending theme that ruins a lot of the "planned to end this way" episode endings, where the theme would add a touch of actual feeling to a scene. It doesn't help that the song just is plain crap.

2) Re-animated scenes done under the direction of the character designer. Certainly, the designs look more uniform between Gundam Seed and Destiny, but it absolutely screws with the actual feel Seed had. Makes the show feel infinitely more generic and bland. Several of the new scenes don't actually ADD anything either.

3) A new eyecatch featuring a new Gunpla kit... I mean, the Strike using all 3 packs at once. Which probably won't happen in the show.

4) SUPPOSEDLY, we have some new voice acting coming down the pipe. This was probably meaningless hype, though.

Oh, and it's upscaled from 480p. However, because it wasn't made with a film stock (as most anime from that timeframe were stored on computers, having been made almost entirely on computers), there is very little that can actually look better. It's a little ironic that 1986's Zeta Gundam actually looks better in HD thanks to the film stock it's taken from compared to Seed's remastering.

I sincerely doubt we'll get any new plot for the show, though.
