Anime and Manga - Gundam

Yeah, I just said that. Come at me.

My reasons? The main character for Wing is a psycho, that's all that needs to be said frankly. He is unlikable, boring, and just plain mean. If Duo was the main character I could stand watching the show since Zechs and Trieze look cool, but with Heero and Relina, one a psycho the other a complete moron (I'm afraid there is no other word to describe someone who becomes infatuated with a guy who's whole involvment in their life is to wash up on a beach, then when you invite him to your birthday party he says he'll kill you).

That, minus stunning animation (AGE has it) and length (AGE has short arcs so if you don't like a mc they aren't the mc for long) makes AGE the better series. Flaws and all.

I will however say this, the Gundams in Wing look cooler than those in AGE. Unfortunately AGE has some of the best designed grunts in the series (just below those of the Zeon style) and so overtakes Wing in that department as well.

Next we have G. I know this is a fan favourite, but I just couldn't stand this series. It was so cheesy the room was practically smelling of it after every episode I watched. The suits besides the lead and a couple of others (Master Gundam for example) were boring or downright ugly. The side characters were also rather dull, or annoying (besides that American dude, he was cool). And lastly, the plot took so long to go anywhere I just got bored and dropped it at episode 10 (iirc, the episode after Domon gets druged).

The animation was however actually fairly nice, and better than Wing's from what I saw. Still not a patch on AGE's though, but then AGE has animation almost as slick as 00's, which was the best animated full length series that I'm aware of. The soundtrack also wasn't up to the standard AGE's is, but had a few nice little tracks like the Shining Finger theme.


All up all I can say is I am VERY disappointed in these two series. I thought with the ravings people around here gave them I would be in for a treat, sadly I was mistaken.

I AM however open to having my mind changed, if anyone actually gives me some good enough reasons I shall reattempt to watch G and Wing.

What episode, roughly, would you say G gets going? I could probably give it another shot if I know roughly when the series hits it's stride.

To be honest I probably phrased the cheese comment wrong, it wasn't so much the cheese so much as the pacing was putting me to sleep as it had that whole "Dragon Ball filler arc" vibe going, and I kind of had enough of that after I finished DB.

Just after you stopped. The introduction of Master Asia is awesome. Admittedly I personally feel it goes back to meandering a few episodes after that when Domon goes to the Guyana highlands or whatever, but it picks back up just before the finals and stays pretty awesome after that.

Pretty much this. Master Asia's introduction is what begins to move this series beyond "Domon faces off against... ANOTHER RANDOM FIGHTER!"

I disagree with the MS designs. They are almost all copies of each other. See Spallow, G-Bouncer, Thielva, G-Xiphos, Shaldoll, Shaldoll Rogue, Shaldoll Custom, G-Exes, G-Exes Jackedge, Genoace, Genoace Custom, Genoace II, Farsia, and Fawn Farsia (only weaponry is different).

Animation wise, of course AGE should be the best. Comparing 2012 animation and 1996 animation shouldn't be a point. It's like me saying Gundam Wing has better animation than MSG.

Character wise, AGE isn't any better than W...... Only Woolf and young Asemu are likable. Flit turned psycho at the end of generation 2. Kio, Ash, and Zeheart are morons. Forgettable enemies (I'm looking at you, Magician 8, Man name Spriggan, and some other person with blue hair, and then some more I don't remember).

i can smell the bs. you dropped g gundam before master asia shows up, yet made it through ages entire first arc. master asia and shwartz bruder are in a tier that age can never touch.

g gundam does have a story that only really starts when master shows up.



wing boring main? laughs like a maniac, rips up invitations making girls cry and tells them he going to kill them. the dood takes grunts suits and fights way better machines in them (virgo mobile dolls, and altron custom). heero does have emotions. he kills a lot of people , but really does want peace, just that power hungry people wont let it happen.

he was trained to show no emotion. he got messed up in the head after a mission went wrong and he killed a young girl.

leo (wing grunt) > any grunt in age that ive seen (first 2 gens). leos show that they arnt terrible when it has a good pilot. and its possible to take out vrigo II with them.shame that the mobility pack for them only showed up in 2 episodes.
the tallgeese is just a big leo with 2 thrusters on its back.

i havent seen gen 3 but from what ive read on this board the main acts stupid trying not to kill. while wing goes with more my style and blows up enemy training base while they sleep. i thought wufei was great.
