I hate the Lakers, but I still think they should be the favorites.
The favorites to win the championship of sucking that is......AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
No, but seriously. The Lakers are a really good team. I hate on the Lakers all the times, but the fact of the matter is they are a great team will loads of depth. They have just had a lot of bad breaks so far this year. According to advanced stats expert John Hollinger, lakers quality of play is equivalent to a 24-10 record right now. Pretty impressive for a banged up team.
Steve Nash is stilly playing just as effectively as he did when he won back-to-back MVPs. His numbers are just a little lower, because he has more talent around him and he is playing less minutes.
Kobe is Kobe. Still the best in the biz. There is noone I would want on my team more than him. I would trade Lebron for Kobe in a heartbeat. Kobe knows what it takes to win. He doesn't shy away from the big moment. Time and time again I see Lebron wilt under the pressure of late game situations (see last night).
Dwight is the best center in the league. Nuff said. Bynum was more talented offensively, but with Dwight, the Lakers have a defensive presence that makes the Lakers a formidable opponent.
Then you got Pau. He is in a slump, I'll admit that. But maybe that concussion knocked some cents into him. Ya gotta give a chance. When Pau is motivated in happy, he is easily a top 10 player in the league.
MWP has had a rennasawnce year. He is knocking down shots, can take anyone off the dribble, and has been playing the best defense since the year he won DPOTY.
The bench is so stacked, I can't even describe it. Jodie Meeks is an elite three point threat. Jordan Hill is the best offensive rebounder in the leegue. He plays with reckless abandon and isn't afraid of nuffin. And Jamison, he is a beast capable of dropping 30+ on any given night, but since the Lakers have so much depth he doesn't get much run. Then you got young guys like Earl Clark who provide a jolt of youthfull rambuckshisness to this veteran group. Every championship team has a reject from "So, You Think You Can Dance." This year the Lakers found Robert Sacre, the missing link.
All in all, the Lakers are a great team. And if your team faces them in the playoffs, you should be scared.

bump. I poured my heart and soul into this. I want some legitimate discussion. I'm gonna go take a shower, so there better be at least two more posts in this topic or I will be hurt.
If D'antoni wasn't the coach of the team, I'd agree with you. The Lakers are going no where for the next 4 years because he isn't a leader
It's weird that a team with all that talent is now an underdog.
Time to take the East, Brooklyn Nets!
