Carmelo Anthony is the best player in the NBA. Anthony Davis is a bust. Canada sucks. Go Knicks! Future 2013 NBA Champions

Let's see this article discussed on Sportcenter, then we are in business. Hopefully, the whole world will take notice of whats been going on for the past 4-5 seasons.

Kobe doesn't try on defense and is old. Shocker.

Although damn at some of those possessions...

I literally said the same things in the other topic.

All the responses were just about Kobe's offense or that all defensive responsibility falls on Dwight.

But Kobe also took a charge in that game. He doesn't normally do that

His defense did get better in the 4th quarter but that's about it

He's been doing this roaming non sense for years now and playing off his man (in that Spike Lee documentary Kobe talks about it and actually sounds proud of this strategy). I really don't see him try at all anymore unless it's a one on one situation where he doesn't want to get embarrassed
1984 is a great book. I think kids should be forced to read it.

Roaming as part of a scheme isn't necessarily bad though.

At least Kobe is being exposed for his pseudo-ALL-NBA defense to an extent.
Houston used Harden! It's super effective!

Roaming is good when you actually HELP. Kobe isn't helping.

There will be a splatter of people pointing to the part where he managed to defend Chris Paul. As if that matters. One can excuse Kobe if: Kwame Brown is still your starting center and Smush Parker is your PG, thus you are playing 3 on 5 on offense so you at least need to expand energy to get a basket. Or if the Lakers on the whole is playing atrocious offense.

Though it doesn't matter, look back to this season no one will go and say "Kobe had an amazing year but letdown by poor team defense."

Roaming defense makes no sense in those plays highlighted, is an excuse. We can highlight who he justifiably sags off Rondo, he can't hit a 3 to save his life. But we are looking at Danny Green, who only got a job as the starting SG because he can shoot 3s accurately (while being sound defensively too). And in those plays highlighted, Kobe isn't seemingly stopping the offense in any way even if they decide not to fling it to Green.

I think the kicker in both plays; Dwight can do nothing. Maybe he can recover in time to Superman block Manu if he is fully fit. But Dwight's value in defense is not necessarily highlight reel blocks, but that he gets into positiion well. This is why he (and Chandler) are better defenders than Ibaka and DeAndre Jordan.
You're pretty radical, can I fill your valence?
