If I token clone my phantasm with counterpart and use ability on the clone, does the ability still work? Cos the clone can't be shuffled into the library, it's exiled. Ability fail? Or a great way to insta mill yourself if you only have one left in the deck or only one in deck fullstop.

You can shuffle a token into the library, and it won't disappear until state-based actions are checked, but it might as well stop existing right away, because the ability tells you to flip cards from the top of the library. You'll never care about the position of the token in the shuffle, and you keep going until you hit an actual card named Mirror-Mad Phantasm (which will gladly replace the token) or until you have no cards left.

Just make sure to understand that it will hit the next Mirror Mad Phanstasm, so having more than one in the deck makes the likelihood of it milling your entire deck much worse if you have multiples. At the same time, if you only have one you have a low chance of drawing it.
