I started playing back when I as in 5th grade when the cards just released. I bought cards like crazy till about 9th grade. I moved and all my cards disappeared and that is when I gave up on collecting Yugioh cards. I haven't watched the new show's but I have seen many booster packs in my local stores and they are starting to become really appealing again...

So my question is, Does the game still feel amazing like it did years ago? Is it worth collecting and playing again?

It's even better in some ways. There are a few archetypes that pretty much rule the scene, but that makes finding ways to beat them all the more satisfying. :3

I agree with Yusuke. There's so much more to the game now. Players coming from the old school era sometimes are skeptical of the new sychro and xyz mechanics, but I think they really add a lot to the game. Plus, nothing stopping you from collecting old school cards as well. Right now, I'm trying to complete the original LOB Exodia.

Awesome sounds very interesting! Can you guys get me started on what to buy first? I would buy all the new decks and boosters here and there. I think I should be buying many more boosters and leas decks this time around...

Depends on how invested you want to get into the game, I would avoid Galatic Overlord series like the plague just because the new ban list is in 4 months or so, that and everyone is going to be flocking over it.

Also avoid top tier unless you have 700+ to blow on a deck.

For a new play I recommend either running machina or dragons.

For dragons just buy 3 of the Dragon's Collide structure decks ( they are going for like 8-10 on amazon right now ) and buy some staples ( mirror force, monster reborn, burst breath, stamping destruction, heavy storm) along with a future fusion and a five headed dragon. Oh and 3x red eyes wyvern can be good and cheap as well.

Well I'm just interested in dropping about $100 bucks atm to start a collection and build some type of deck to start me off. But a dragons deck sounds very awesome and I will look into what you listed! I'll go check all this on Amazon right now

The bolded aren't staples, nor are they good.

For a dragon deck they are good., you have no idea how many times bust breath destroyed my opponents when they try to XYZ

Stamping is just replacing Mystic Space

And yes I know they aren't staples.

Stamping does not replace MST. MST is a quickplay that does not require a condition to use. Stamping requires a faceup dragon and cannot be used anywhere except your own main phase, and the measly 500 LP burn damage does not makeup for being much less reliable than MST. Why don't you think top Dark World decks use Dark World Lightning?

Burst Breath is conditional. You might as well just run 2 Torrential Tributes.

And mirror force is arguably less of a staple now. I would agree.

To the TC: If you want something semi-competitive, you can start with 3 Dragons Collide structure decks or 3 Gates of the Underworld structure decks.

Cards to look out for that would really help you are effect veiler, pot of duality, solemn warning, and bottomless trap hole.
