Looks like the Sonic games will remain on the VC in Europe, at least.

It seems that Europe will only get Mega Man 5 this week. SSFII Genesis was originally set to be released alongside MM 5, but it looks like it'll be delayed to next month.

I wonder if it'll be released alongside another VC game? it's been the case with every version of SFII released so far.

^I'm starting to think that it'll be our next Wii VC game for America, assuming Metal Slug 3 doesn't show up next.

I just NOW noticed a VC edit involving Catrap; mostly to do with copyright info.

The game was originally localized by Asmik's US division, so the US version's title screen has the "Asmik Corp of America" logo, whereas the original Japanese version (Pitman) has "Ask" and "Kodansha" (the two companies who share copyright for this game, I guess) in the game's font. however, in the VC release of the US version, the logo was completely removed and replaced with "Ask", like in the Japanese version. Asmik no longer exists in America, so maybe that's the reason for the change?

Japan's next 3DS VC is a GBC game; this time it's Wario Land II: Nusumareta Zaihou (subtitle roughly translates to "The Stolen Treasure"). it came out in America and Europe simply as "Wario Land 2", without the subtitle.

it's worth noting that there was a GB version of the game (which was Nintendo's final game for the original GB), but it only came out in America and Europe, which explains why Japan is getting the GBC version instead. since the GBC version DID get released here (unlike Balloon Fight GB), we might get that version on VC.

It's really sad that Nintendo is releasing the second Wario Land game in Japan when America has still yet to get the first one (SML 3).

The April 2012 list for Japan is up, and man, it's their smallest EVER. they're only getting two games! well, at least they were both originally released here. the games are--

(Super Famicom/SNES)
Prince of Persia (looks like Ubisoft will be publishing it in Japan as well; originally, it was published by NCS in Japan and Konami everywhere else. PAL regions got this game on VC back in January,)

(Neo-Geo)
Metal Slug 3 (the third game in the Metal Slug series. the previous game in the series came out on VC in late 2008. it's the largest NG game released on VC so far, clocking in at 708 megabytes. Europe is getting it this month as well.)

Maybe Japan will get "surprise" VC releases later on?

That's odd; Spelunker is back up on the Japanese VC today. this time by Tozai.

And I also noticed that R-Type 3 is no longer up on the JP/EU/AU VC but is still up in the US. probably because of Jaleco (now Hamster)'s distribution rights to that game over here?

Shining Force: Sword of Hajya and Defenders of Oasis have been rated by the ACB.

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2012/04/shining_force_and_defenders_of_oasis_rated_for_3ds_vc

The former game is actually the second Gaiden game within the GG trilogy, and the only one in the set to see a US release. strangely, no EU release of the game seems to exist, which means that they might be having another import title to receive in the future.

The latter game DID saw a EU release, though, so that game will likely get released there first.

Tumblepop is Japan's next GB game. it's yet another Data East title that was originally an Arcade game (as with Burger Time and Lock 'n Chase).

Interestingly, it's the second time a game came out on VC that was originally localized by Sunsoft in America; the first one being Sky Kid, which was published by Namco themselves. we actually ended up getting the original Japanese version of the game when it got released on the NA VC.

Japan will be getting DK Jr (their fourth ambassador game, as Punch-Out wasn't among the 10 NES/FC games) and G-Sonic next week.

G-Sonic is the original JP name for Sonic Blast, BTW.
