Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. (spoilers)

Saw the first episode.

Basically, Rick Jones wants to make a web series to show the world Hulk is not a monster. Annihulus (too tired to go check the spelling) makes a big rift in the sky and sends Skaar through. Lots of fighting. Red Hulk shows up. Skaar gets a gamma ray gun to let Annihulus through. More fighting Hulk wins.

The visuals for the interdimensional rift looked really great.

Everything else I feel ranged from standard (plot, Annihulus' voice, Hulk's voice) to grating (Rick Jones and Red Hulk)

these things happen when you sell out to Disney...

If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.

That makes it sound like all pre Disney Marvel cartoons were Masterpieces. They were not.

Which weren't?

Well the MTV Spider-Man series was pretty bad. So was Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes...

No, it's true. Every Marvel cartoon before Disney took over was great.

Part of the problem is that despite a big company like Disney is handling Marvel cartoons now, they're still not much better off (if at all) than the bad Marvel shows prior to the acquisition.

Add in how shows like Spectacular Spider-Man, Wolverine and the X-Men, and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes all suffered after Disney got Marvel and it just makes Disney's purchase of Marvel look like the worst thing to have ever happened to their animated programming.

^^^Still, not really.

Found this podcast linked from a blog, and as the blog poster put it:
I also listened to this podcast where Man of Action pretty much said that Joe Quesada came to them about making "Ultimate Spider-Man" as a show to appeal to kids and kids alone, and not to "forty year old white men reading comics"

USM is definitely the end result of Joe Q's request, not Disney.

Hey now, the 90's Advengers song was at least epic, even if the rest of the show sucked.

Its true that not every Marvel show was a hit before Disney, though I think making examples of mostly 60 cartoons is unfair.
uStill, even if its also partly because of Qusada and Lobe's quest to make the most brain dead super hero cartoons around, it does not help that it seems Disney strongly motivated them to also make shows like most of the line up on Disney XD, seriously you can tell that the new Spiderman and Avengers show, and this new Hulk show feel like most of the XD trash shows.

Its been a bad combo though, born of people who think that quality in Kids shows is a oxymoron.

Sooo, um, anyone else actually watch the first episode?
