jessemo posted... What happened with the Batman: Inc Trades? I heard a lot of stuff had to be changed in Vol 2 in order to fit the new continuity and hence, a lot of the background stuff for Vol 2 had to be totally changed. The "Batman: Incorporated" Vol. 1 trade came out in April. When people say changes had to be made, they mean in-universe, storyline changes. Not literal changes made to the comics. The Vol. 1 trade is identical to the single issues that were released last year. However, from an "in-universe" standpoint, some of the stuff happening in that trade no longer happened, or happened differently. We only have one issue of Vol. 2 released, so the amount of changes we can not be sure of. Some things I can say we know so far though: Everyone uses their DCnU costumes rather than their Inc. cosutmes. Katana was never a member of The Outsiders. Catwoman does not know Batman's secret identity. Everything that Stephanie Brown did in Batman Inc. still happened, but she did them as Spoiler rather than Batgirl. That's just off the top of my head. It has been a while since I read Batman: Inc. Vol. 1 so their are most likely other changes. Time will tell.
This isn't quite a continuity question but since you answered the first so well... Is the invasion thing going on in voodoo linked to any other books and if so which ones and issues? --- http://psnprofiles.com/goatjugsoup1278 Currently playing: Warriors Orochi 3 (while hoping the upcoming dlc fixes ME3s ending)
GoatJugSoup posted... This isn't quite a continuity question but since you answered the first so well... Whew, that's an in depth one. The Daemonites are a big push in the DCU right now and they've been infiltrating us for centuries. In fact the "big threat" to the Earth that was mentioned in Stormwatch, Justice League, and Action Comics (The Multitude) may in fact be a fleet of Daemonites. Here's a list of their appearances so far: Superman (#7-8): Superman fought one of their leaders, Helspont. The Savage Hawkman (#1-4, 7-8): A recurring villain named Askana is a hybrid Daemonite just like Voodoo. Demon Knights (#4): They haven't shown up yet but they have been mentioned by Merlin as being a threat that the team has to prepare for. They have also been alluded to be the ones who murdered Merlin. Stormwatch (#6): The daemonite leader Helspont had been imprisoned on their ship for centuries, and escapes. This leads right into Superman #7-8 and Grifter #7. Grifter (The whole series): Grifter's origin ties into the Daemonites and they are his main villains. He's the "chosen one" and the leader of a Daemonite resistance force that also includes Cheshire and Deathblow.
Is it at all likely that the New 52 will go back to being the original DC Universe? --- ~Halo Now darkness takes you... forever.
ShadowHalo17 posted... Is it at all likely that the New 52 will go back to being the original DC Universe? Never going to happen. They will probably change it again in a few years time (like they have done many times before) but they will never revert to a previous reality. Or in other words. It's exactly the same as what happened with CoIE, and people wanting pre-CoIE reality back have been waiting for 20+ years. I'd suggest just dealing with it.
No one wants pre-CoIE though. The previous DC universe was perfect. The New 52 is pretty good, but I still wish it was just a temporary thing until they go back to the norm. I know it's unlikely but dang it. --- ~Halo Now darkness takes you... forever.
ShadowHalo17 posted... No one wants pre-CoIE though. You're the epitome of "my opinion is the only one that matters". For years and years after CoIE people were wanting for a return to pre-Crisis. Enough time has passed for most of them to have moved on, but I know at least one old codger that stopped reading after that and still cries for the "good old days". Many people (myself included) prefer the DCnU to the pre-Flashpoint world so it couldn't have been "perfect". It's all just...opinions man.

Did it actually say in the Hawkman series that Askana is a hybrid Daemonite because I just read that and if it did I missed it. Also I am now going to pick up those other books you mentioned. Quick question about the Superman series, does it have a billion words per page like action comics because that's kinda what's been blocking me from reading it. --- http://psnprofiles.com/goatjugsoup1278 Currently playing: Warriors Orochi 3 (while hoping the upcoming dlc fixes ME3s ending)

It was never stated outright that Askana was a Daemonite hybrid, but if she isn't one then she is pretty much identical to one. Just like Voodoo she is a shape-shifting alien, and her true form is a green reptilian like monster. As for the Superman series, it depends on the writer. The first six issues were written by George Perez and yes, it can be pretty wordy. More so than Action Comics, even. It's due to Perez' age, he's a rather old-fashioned sort of writer. After that writing duties were given to Keith Giffen. He's much more "modern" and less wordy but in my opinion that's a bad thing. He has the inner monologue of Superman written like a teenager or something. It just doesn't feel like Superman would say things like that. I honestly wouldn't recommend the book, but if you are intent on getting everything that has to do with the Daemonite invasion, more power to you.
OK I'm heading to bed now. Feel free to keep asking questions, I'll check the thread again tomorrow. Night everyone! :) |
