it's not really thte mediocreness thast the issue it's the... let's call it anime approach to story telling
Implying that there is only a select standard few ways of storytelling approach in anime, lulzy.

Implying that anime hasn't seriously gotten lazy in it's apprach to genre defying and cliches.

really eveything in theses games is designed specificlly to target a direct fetish or fetishist. There's alwyas the little girl the shy girl the loud tomboy adn so on so forth

Newsflash, every genre has a set of cliche characters

Tough guy who has a heart of gold
Rookie soldier who's amazing
Rough commander who really wants to help you personally behind the scenes.

It's all been done before.

Yes finnel is tsundere, but is she the same as say taiga from toradora? No

The issue is do you like the genre? If not you have a lower tolerance for that genre.

How would you write a believable female character who doesn't fall Into a stereotype
#14Lost7thPosted 6/13/2011 11:30:31 AM
By writing a character and not a stereo type. the issue is that the characters are PURPOSELY made to be a certain cliche just to appeal to fans of tsunderes or whatevers

Gotta love make believe figures, and biased generalizations. You still haven't answered why its okay from other genres? But not with anime?

And about the pedo comment, even in the usa teen girls are highly sexually marketed.

And frankly your comment is just ridiculous, anime is as broad a genre as American tv.

Lost just trolls everything slightly having to do with anime. Don't mind him.

CAREFUL BECCA! YOU MIGHT GET MODDED BECAUSE YOU'LL HURT HIS FEEWINGS!

Back in the days of Working Designs, their Playstation games got the finest packaging. Collector's boxes, leather bound manuals, trinkets, the works.

srsly, Working Designs went all out! I think NISA is trying to do the same, as is XSEED...

....Atlus often does too. But not as much as they used to -- I was hoping for a Special Edition for Persona2, but nothing yet. Maybe since it's a PSP release, the most they'll toss in is the soundtrack.

the common link between most animes and anime games that try telling a serious story is that they lack the ability to tell a story on a basic level. Meaning they sometimes get insultingly bad like Tales of the Abyss.
