Help bring Bravely Default (RPG - 3DS- Square) to US/Europe

It could be regional, then; I don't know. I still see a needlessly large DS section at Gamestop, Best Buy, Target, and so forth. Unless it's TRU, the DS section tends to be larger than the 3DS one.

Go to Gamestop, buy a Steam card, and use it to purchase Ys Origin. You won't be disappointed.

Perhaps, but the only games coming out on the DS, games that aren't Pokemon, are games no one really cares about. Shovelware, essentially.

Granted, the DS has always been a magnet for shovelware but it also had an adequate supply of good games to go with them. It just doesn't anymore. Oh, and the only reason the most recent Pokemon came out on it was because Nintendo didn't want to alienate people who hadn't bought a 3DS yet.

Doing some research, the DS only had three big releases this year, one of them only being big if you're into RPGs. They were Pokemon Conquest, Pokemon B&W 2, and Devil Survivor 2. Those two Pokemon games were the only two games published by Nintendo for the DS in 2012.

If you look at sites that specialize in video game release dates, you'll see that the DS has been a wasteland all year.

I imagine the games you're seeing on the shelf are all stuff these places are trying to get rid of.

Well, everyone knows Custer died at Little Bighorn. What this book presupposes is... maybe he didn't.

There's a store near me with like 100 DS games. All boxed. Several new.

The store next door to it has a decent sized collection too.

It ain't dead here atleast.

I'm not talking about how many games stores have. I know stores that have hundreds of NES games.

It's about what games are being made for it nowadays and there just aren't any. That's a dead system.

having played the PS3 version, the 3D environments are f***ing gorgeous.

I did not like them much, comparing to the 2D art are boring, for me at least

Teh charatcers are perfect, since they do indeed look like the 2D art, but the environments cant look like 2D art, that woulkd require like 10.000x added detail and a super computer to run

Okay.

Since you have played enough of Bravely Default, enough to say it is one of the best rpgs around can you tell us about it?

What makes it so good?

What is the gameplay like?

How long is it?

Why are people so worried about this not being released in the west? It came out in Japan, what, a couple months ago? Give it time.

Good gameplay can easily salvage a bad story.
Good story can never save bad gameplay.

The longer it takes for a title to get announced the less confidence people have in it being released. The key is the level of patience varies. The less patience one has the sooner their confidence runs. That and to be honest, Square Enix has already proven they're willing to skip games. Sure they've also released games here. However people focus on the negative sometimes more than the positive.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy (Japan)

Real gameplay abounds in the latest demo from Square Enix!

Visually, the art style is breathtaking and the music is a complete joy to listen to. There are times when the camera pans out to give you a full view of the town (usually when you don’t press anything for a few seconds), which looks exactly the same as previously revealed artwork for the game. The visuals mixed in with the 3D character models give the game a unique feel."

"Bravely Default: Flying Fairy is one of the best traditional RPGs I've played in years, and probably the best new IP to come out of Square Enix since The World Ends With You. If you have a Japanese 3DS, you should own this game. For those of you that don't have one? Start sending SE your letters demanding BD:FF be released in English. A game as good as this deserves to be experienced."

"The game itself features random encounters and turn-based battles, powered by a classic job system reminiscent of FFV. It's not yet been revealed how the AR tech shown at TGS will be implemented, but we certainly hope it will be an innovation rather than a shiny gimmick. Either way, Bravely Default is shaping up to be the RPG that many nostalgic Final Fantasy fans are pining for.

"But cross your fingers. Despite its name, Bravely Default really is the sort of Final Fantasy experience gamers have been clamoring for. With luck, we'll be playing it ourselves sooner rather than later."
