I was always a fan.. I grew up watching Buffy and it remains one of my favourite shows. I haven't watched Firefly yet, I want to but it's a bummer going into a series knowing it's cancelled prematurely.

Thumbs up from me.

Well my opinion is not the general opinion but here it is.

I think he is good with big ideas but he personally isn't so great with details. Of the shows he has ran I find I generally don't like episodes he himself wrote (not an absolute one of my all time favorite episodes of Angel he wrote... but many of my least favorite least favorites he did as well).

Overall I would rate him about average. He hits the ball out of the park sometimes, but he swings and misses a lot too.

^The movie Serenity does a pretty go job of wrapping up the series... and I've heard the comics tie up some loose ends.

The man is a wordsmith who can write very witty dialogue, but a lot of his stuff is a bit too humor-oriented for my taste. That said, he can still write a very riveting plot when he wants to, as he showcased with intensely engaging Dollhouse, and he's very good at breaking conventional cliches and being different. I love Dollhouse, enjoy Firefly a lot, and am currently watching through Buffy, on Season 2, which is mostly very good as opposed to the horrid season 1. But I knew that coming into it. And of course I loved the Avengers.

So overall I think he's honestly one of the best screenwriters out there and he's very good at accomplishing the goals he sets out for himself in his work.

Loved the Avengers, loved Dr. Horrible, liked most of Firefly/Serenity (though I had a lot of issues with the way one of the main characters was used and the things that came about from this character; Ariel and the movie were as close as I ever came to really liking the show), had an extreme like/hate relationship with Buffy (never actually loved it (okay, I loved Giles's character)), hated Angel, and got bored by Dollhouse.

I'm not a fan of his tendency to give stupid people intelligent dialogue that doesn't make sense for their character (especially giving them cultural knowledge that they shouldn't have), and apart from Dr. Horrible and Penny, I've never liked any of his attempts at writing romantic relationships.

But even though I dislike his writing way more than most people, he doesn't seem like a bad person from the interviews I've seen of him, and as I mentioned in my first paragraph, he has written a couple of rare gems in my eyes.

I'm a new Joss Whedon fan. I saw Dr. Horrible a long time ago and really liked it. I was never aware of who Joss Whedon was. I saw he was announced to direct The Avengers and looked him up and realized he write and directed Dr. Horrible. I LOVED Cabin in the Woods and really enjoyed The Avengers. There was a bit too much humor in The Avengers in my opinion. I have since gone back and watched Dollhouse(which is among my top favorite shows), watched Firefly, read his run on Astonishing X-men and I'm currently watching Buffy season 3.

I'm currently trying to consume every I can of Whedon.

I don't like his TV stuff at all but Cabin in the Woods and The Avengers were both pretty good.
