Inconsistencies in the X-Men films *SPOILERS*

#13khcPosted 6/3/2011 7:48:28 AM(edited)
-Beast still being human in X2
-Professor X walking in Origins and The Last Stand

Debatable:
-Emma Frost being older than herself in First Class than in Origins
-Magneto and Professor X going to meet Jean Grey in The Last Stand
-Storm being too old to appear in First Class
-Storm, Cyclops, and Professor X not remembering Wolverine in the first X-Men
-Cyclops not not knowing about Xavier's school in Origins even though Havok was on the team
-Alkali Lake =/= Stryker's Island

I don't really see how some of those are debatable. They're just inconsistencies any way you look at it.

-Beast still being human in X2
I thought in the earlier comics beast could change form at will. And then later have had a device to make him look human when he couldn't change back anymore. Something like that.

--Professor X walking in Origins and The Last Stand
He walked in Origins because it was early on and he still could. I don't remember him walking in Last Stand. Please don't ask me to watch that movie again. =(

Debatable:
--Emma Frost being older than herself in First Class than in Origins
Strike made clone is one theory. Other than that, different movie.

--Magneto and Professor X going to meet Jean Grey in The Last Stand
Frenemies do weird things at weird times. Like still getting together to play chess after trying to kill each other.

--Storm being too old to appear in First Class
Not really. Prof. X is a college grad in FC, an adult. Storm was a little girl when they met. Still possible.

--Storm, Cyclops, and Professor X not remembering Wolverine in the first X-Men
Why would Storm and Cyclops remember him? They hadn't met yet. Xavier did remember him.

--Cyclops not not knowing about Xavier's school in Origins even though Havok was on the team
Different movie, jacked up time lines. Havok is actually younger than Cyclops.

--Alkali Lake =/= Stryker's Island
I don't remember either place being in FC.

Basically X-Men 3 and Wolverine don't count any more. The amount of stuff in First Class that directly contradict those films is enough for me to believe that Singer is ignoring them. Good on him too.

The only thing that' a big iffy in X-Men First Class is that Beast makes a Cerebro Prototype but in X-Men 1 Xavier says he and Magneto made it. Unless he was only referencing to the one in the X mansion.

Yeah, I think Prof X and Magneto may have made the new Cerebro. That can be put under debatable.

And I guess I shall explain why I personally think these inconsistencies are debatables:

-Emma Frost being older than herself in First Class than in Origins
Actors/actress much older than themselves often portray much younger characters. Or maybe Frost just used her psychich abilities to look younger. OR we can go with that cloning theory.

-Magneto and Professor X going to meet Jean Grey in The Last Stand
Nothing is stopping these two from collaborating.

-Storm being too old to appear in First Class
IIRC, she was younger in Origins. Could always say it wasn't even her.

-Storm, Cyclops, and Professor X not remembering Wolverine in the first X-Men
They might've never tlked to Wolverine (In Cyke's case he didn't see him) but, I'm sure they heard stories about the man that set them free.

-Cyclops not not knowing about Xavier's school in Origins even though Havok was on the team
Havok simply might have not told Cyclops about it.

-Alkali Lake =/= Stryker's Island
Actually, this isn't debatable. Straight up retcon right hurr.

Havok's existence in the 1960's may be explained via the time travel shenanigans his bloodline is known for - his dad hung out with time travelling aliens then you had his nephew Cable getting transported to the future by Apocalypse, etc.

MAYBE we'll get Sinister and/or Apocalypse for the next one!!

The problem with the X and Magneto recruiting Jean Grey scene in X3 is that Professor X was able to walk in that scene.

Inconsistencies...

So they're trying to be true to the source material, I see.
