True, Spider-Man is undoubtedly the most popular Marvel superhero. There is no doubting that, and him being in The Avengers would have given them more tickets, but they are waiting on it so that the second Avengers will get better sales than the first. Besides....*SPOILERS!!!*

I heard Spider-Man makes a cameo at the end of The Avengers. Or a least his actor does.

*End Spoilers*

Not a part of the origins. I'm sure all the characters in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance video games will make an appearance in some Avenger movie. That game was out long before the first Iron Man movie, yet the fourth palette change for Nick Fury in the game is Samuel L. Jackson.

The forth palette change for Blade seems to be the bald TV show Blade.

Similar to the Watchmen movie and in the Xmen Universe, they will be divided over Mutant and Hero registration. MUA2 gets into that, Civil Wars. You can see how it will divide already with the tension seen in the trailer for the Avenger movie between Captain America and Iron Man.

Peter Parker plays an important roll in the Civil Wars comic book that came with MUA2.

Spider-Man has never been leader of the Avengers.

The big reason he isn't in it (or other popular "New Avenger" Wolverine) is they are owned by other studios.

Spiderman, Morbias, Blade, The Black Panther, Ghost Rider and others have been a part of an Avenger team. Most of those comics had a lot of SHEILD involvement.

Pictured in the group in the top left side corner box on the comic book.

I think the real strange missing are the Fantastic Four. I think The Avengers use their HQ made by Tony Stark in the game.

I have a hard time believing Sony would let Disney anywhere near Spider-man or the actor, even if it is just a cameo.

The only way you'll ever see Spider-man in a movie with another Marvel character is if A. Sony owns the rights to that other character or B. Disney shells out a ridiculous amount of money to buy the rights to Spider-man back.

What the hell at posts 2 and 3?

In case you didn't know, Spidey is owned by Sony. Sony isn't gonna let Marvel get him. It's why they're doing a reboot. They have to keep on making movies or they lose the rights to him and they revert back to Marvel.
And no, Spidey does not have a cameo in the avengers.

They're probably thinking of a Fantastic Four reboot anyway. I don't think they want to use the cast from the old movies.

Fox may be thinking about a Fantastic Four reboot. Disney doesn't own the rights to Fantastic Four.
