2009 was a great year for sci-fi IMO, between Avatar, Star Trek, and District 9.

Out of all the possible years you could've chose for sci-fi, you chose 2009.

1982 had Blade Runner, The Thing, Wrath of Khan, E.T., Poltergeist, The Road Warrior, Conan, Q, The Dark Crystal, and Tron. Also Swamp Thing.

1968 had 2001, so that's the best year for sci-fi.

Can't argue with that.

Though 1984 provides healthy competition with the Terminator tee-hee

I'll second 1982 for Sci-Fi.

I think 1987's probably the best year for Action. Predator, Robocop, The Living Daylights, Project A 2, Armor of God, The Running Man, A Better Tomorrow 2, Lethal Weapon, Death Wish 4. Probably more that I've forgotten.

I don't know a year that has multiple movies I really like for any of those genres.
