A basic gun safety course could have saved his life. But nope, mandating that someone gets trained before being allowed to own a gun is unacceptable to gun nuts!

Rules only work if people follow them.

This guy wasn't a criminal. If we mandated people get trained before legally acquiring guns then accidents like this would be less common.

Or, demanding that people take a government run course to so much as touch a weapon is downright selfish, and actually very pointless.

All the gun safety regulations in the world wouldn't have helped this man.

Idiots will always find idiotic ways to accidentally kill themselves.

Why is the NRA doing this to us? Making us live like this? They are opposed to any legislation that would keep firearms out of incompetent folks like this Florida man who was a danger to himself and others.

Police were called to the home to investigate a shooting and they found Shaw behind the house with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Witness told officers that Shaw, his uncle, grandparents and some friends were on the back patio talking when he showed them a .38-caliber revolver, police said.

Shaw told them that he kept one round out of the firing chamber to prevent an accidental shooting, according to police.

Witnesses then said Shaw tried to prove the gun was safe by placing it to his head and pulling the trigger, which is when the gun fired, fatally wounding him, police said.

People at that age more often than not feel they have a lot to prove to themselves and their family or friends in an attempt to be seen as a "grown-up", and too often it overrides their common sense and leads to stupid ****. Get a gun in their hands and... well, there you go.

This is true. Of course education generally has a way of reducing idiocy. If he took a gun safety class, then maybe he would've acted smarter. No guarantee though.
