If you want to kill each other, fine, but leave historical sites out of it.

If it's either kill people or destroy historical sites, it should be destroy historical sites in a heartbeat.

And if people want to destroy a historic site and lethal force may be necessary to stop them, you say let them destroy the historic site?

Yes. Lethal force should only be used to save the life of others.

Few things sicken me more than stuff like this. I was SO pissed when the terrorists in Mali looted and destroyed tons of ancient buildings and artifacts in Timbuktu.

And the Syrian government has the balls to say Israel did it.

They're probably right.

It was probably looted by criminals for personal profit taking advantage of the chaos when no one is watching, rather than the rebels or the government. So not really related to the government.

Of course the rebels and government will blame each other of doing it make each other look bad.

So some anarchists with guns evacuate a museum and threaten to burn it/blow it to the ground, you say "mehh, let them, nobody is going to get hurt"

Orca, why must you be such a joke poster?

Joke posting is valuing some old clay over actual human life. How messed up do you have to be?

You say somebody would be messed up to kill a hostile man with a gun, I say that man must be messed up to risk his own life to destroy a "piece of clay". If some crazy man is willing to point a gun then he should own up to the consequences.

I can't believe I'm gonna do this.... but I partly agree with Orca. Human life is far more important than stone, no matter how old or significant you think it is. A tragedy that this synagogue is gone? Sure. A loss of a national treasure? Definitely. Should we be appalled that so many historical treasures, especially non-muslim ones in muslim countries get destroyed, and that they're destroying their own heritage? Yes.

Is it at all more important then the loss of life in the Syrian civil war, which we haven't talked about much on this site? No. Every day that the syrian civil war continues, that the syrian government murders it's citizens, that it uses cluster bombs and other various weapons to kill, is more important than this building.
